  2. The AA have been superb both times I've needed to call them (both pre Skoda )
  3. A degree isn't needed, the fact I failed mine has never been mentioned in an interview, yet. In fact the most I've ever been asked about uni was if I had a good time. You just need to apply for everything and anything. The job you start off doing will not be the job you're doing in 5 years time and the beauty of IT is that you could be doing absolutely anything in the future - I started off as a COBOL programmer, moved into Java web development and now architect content management systems. This has all happened in the last 7ish years!! Generally, unless you've got loads of experience, the money you get offered for your first job is cr@p. From what I've seen though, this is usually just in case you're rubbish. If you put the effort in and are good at your job, you'll progress up the pay ladder fairly quickly. Much faster than some other industries or local governement (Police, teaching, council etc...). Unfortunately, unless you're some sort of genius and get snapped up by one of the big boys, nobody's going to pay you £20k+. Degree or not. [Edit - For your first job that is]
  4. On the back of a toilet wall, in three different sets of handwriting: "Sex is disgusting" "No it isn't!!" "It is the way I do it!!" And the advertising on the side of a builders van: "Sick of cowboys, call the Indians: Singh & Son Builders"
  5. Did anyone else see this? They had on a fantastic looking 3D GPS unit which actually displays what your view should look like as you're driving along (buildings, landmarks etc..) It was incredibly detailed, even down to the billboard positions being correct! It will also show all other cars fitted with the same GPS unit on the screen, so you can jump ahead and check out what the traffic's like and spot any jams. Just a shame it's only available in Tokyo at the moment, and I'm guessing it'll take a while for the maps to be done for the rest of the world :(
  6. Cheers for all the help guys. Ended up getting a Karcher, complete with both a vario and a high pressure lance. Should keep the old fellla amused on boxing day J
  7. Check out the menu prices before you order. We had lunch in Courcheval on last years holiday (staying in Val T) and ended up getting stung £30 for a cheeseburger & fries and a coke!! Should have noticed when someone pointed out the £500 bottle of wine on the menu  Try and get the 3 Valleys pass, at least for a couple of days. The variety of terrain over the whole resort is astounding (couloirs, tree runs, massive powder fields ) Have a good 'un, I'm jealous as hell mate. Buying a house is meaning no snow for me this season
  8. I'm planning on getting my dad a pressure washer for xmas and have absolutely no idea about the things. So.. I was hoping you guys may be able to help. My main criteria are: - under
  9. I'm not sure exactly what you mean from your description. Are you importing the songs from the CD into iTunes (Ripping) or burning your MP3's back onto CD? If you're importing the CD, there's an option join tracks together to remove the gap inbetween (typically for DJ mix CD's). From the iTunes Help: "If you want to remove the gap of silence that normally occurs between songs, select two or more adjacent songs and choose Advanced > Join CD Tracks. iTunes imports any joined songs as one track. To change back to importing the songs separately, select the joined songs and choose Advanced > Unjoin CD Tracks."
  10. Has anyone got the Denison ICE:LINK set up? Was just wondering how well it worked, and what the sound quality was like. Ta, J
  11. I wondered what IBM were branding it as this 1/4. Brings back (not so) fond memories of my COBOL and RPG days, but looks like things have changed a little in recent years
  12. Did the iSeries used to be the AS/400? If it is, I've used an iSeries, and Linux. But never one on the other. Once you've got it installed though, any Linux info you find should be valid, regardless of platform. Try www.linuxdoc.org as a good starter.
  13. Thanks for that, it's taken me the last month to stop singing that to myself
  14. Black looks fantastic, but you'll spen as much time washing it as driving it :( Brilliant car though, and you'd be surprised how a lot of peoples attitudes to them have changed recently. Unless they know absolutely nothing about cars. Some of the biggest compliments mine's had have been from BMW drivers fo all people
  15. They've started again. Not quite on the scale of last times, yet. But it's a start I suppose.
  16. I suppose I should really ask the dealer these questions, but I'm willing to bet I'll get a quicker and more accurate answer from you lovely people.... Should I get anything through the post about the AA cover and Supagard warrenty? The dealer said that I should get the paperwork about the Supagard warrenty posted straight to me, but no sign of it yet (3 weeks and counting). Nothing at all was mentioned about the AA cover. Should I be expecting anything from them? Cheers, Jim.
  17. When you reply to a question, you get the option of either making the question and answer public to all users, otr just e-mailing a reply to the buyer. The decision is up to the seller.
  18. Given time they will come down in price, the (albeit illegal) FM transmitters have almost halved in price since I bought mine. Do we have enough iPod/Mini owners on here to look into a group buy?
  19. I think most people have times where nothing seems to go right. Then, once you mess up the first time, you get more flustered and it just gets worse. Rush hour is never the best display of driving skills anyway. J
  20. How about this for a marker?!?! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10554&item=3695608433&rd=1 Overkill?? Never!!
  21. Good choice of car and colour. I was shocked too when the dealer managed to come up with something not too far away from Motorpoints price. Was a bit more, but worth it for the extra warranty and stuff and knowing that it was a full UK spec car. I hope you have plenty of free time at weekends because although the black loves wonderfull, it's a pain in the **** to keep clean
  22. Not so odd, mine's black as well. Oh, and welcome :wavey: (from another newbie)
  23. Thanks for all the replies. After reading a few threads I managed to find after posting this, I think the first course of action is going to be a Disklok. Just need to collar an hour of my mates time to pop down to Costco and get it (I'm not a member). Then an alarm... The Sigma M32 is winning at the moment, I like the fact it works off the existing keyfob. Has anyone got any pics of it installed as I'd like to see exactly what is visible in the cabin before I make my mind up. Can anyone reccomend any decent fitters in the Midlands (Derby/Nottingham/Leciester) area? The Clifford did look slightly better, but from prices I found on the net it's well out of my price range. Cheers, Jim
  24. Please be gentle, I'm a bit new to this.... So, I've finally got myself a car is actually worth stealing and I'm finding myself getting a little worried about it. Was looking at any security improvements I can make and come up with a couple of options 1 - Some sort of steering wheel lock 2 - CAT1 Alarm/Immobiliser upgrade Are steering wheel locks worth the money any more? I remember that every other consumer program was showing how easy they were to remove a few years ago, but was wondering if they'd improved in recent years? Also, are there any that will actually help reduce my insurance premium? Oh, and will they mark/scar the leather steering wheel on my Octy vRS? Or am I better just saving my money and putting it towards an alarm/immobiliser upgrade? Opinions please, Thanks. Jim
