It's a big help, thanks a lot - really appreciate it!

One last question, when the 'sidelights' come on - do the DRL's just dim, is that all that happens?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

The DRL's change into the sidelights when they are switched on, so there's no difference in brightness of the two lights.

  2. Just checked my FL SE technology- it looks like the sidelights and drl are the same. Dipped beam (H7) and main beam (H15) are separate units.

I had the dipped beam bulbs changed to Philips x-tremeVision when I bought the car, there doesn't appear to be much choice for upgrading the main beam bulbs, unfortunately.

I got mine from Silbury Skoda near Cramlington. It's only a week old and not run in yet. I bought my previous Fabia estate from them as well. It seems that the revs rise is a feature of the car then. Can you narrow it down to cold engine or gradient? It doesn't happen all the time.

I got mine from Silbury as well, 3 weeks ago. The temperature or gradient do not make any difference.

It's more noticeable when manoeuvring at slow speeds.

Not a criticism but why buy a new car and not spec a spare wheel - space saver or not - it's only £100'ish on top of the thousands you have just spent?

Great choice by the way the 1.5. I'm very pleased with my 1.5 SE L DSG.

The car is on pch so any extras that I purchase would have to go back with the car at the end of the contract. If I purchase the wheel( and kit separately), I can either transfer them to another car at the end of contract, or sell them on.

And you are right about the 1.5 being a great choice, I'm really impressed with it.

  5. My new 1.5tsi SE technology doesn't currently have a spare wheel just a tin of gunk and a compressor, it's on 205/55/R16 tyres.

I've seen a space saver for a yeti 195/60/R16 advertised on gumtree, does anyone know if this would be suitable to use as a temporary spare for my car?

    Thanks

Think the SE Tech is available only to business buyers.

No it's not. It's available to private buyers as well (I've just taken delivery of mine a couple of weeks ago), just ask the dealer.

jtalep- I have asked myself the same question as to why anyone would buy a SE when the SE technology is the same price with more kit.

  7. Today is my last day as a Yeti owner (well almost last day as it will not be picked up by BCA until Friday).

I've had 3 Yetis over the last 8 years, all have been great motors, with no problems ,other than some zinc inclusion on the first two, which was dealt with without any problems.

If the Yeti was still being produced I would probably be picking up number 4 today, but in view of the decision to stop production I will be picking up my Octavia 1.5tsi, se technology today.

I'll still be keeping an eye on the Yeti forum, but will be more active on the Octavia section now.

  8. I have been in touch with my current insurers (RIAS) re changing from my current Yeti to my new Octavia and have this reply:

Unfortunately, as we are unable to find the correct vehicle on our system, we would be unable to offer cover and would have to cancel the policy.

When I phoned them re this they eventually invented a figure of £660 for the remaining 2 months left on my policy, interesting as my premium last year was only £160.

They very kindly say that they will not charge me the cancellation fee and will refund me the balance of my current policy.

How crazy is this, especially as RIAS are part of Ageas, who provide the Skoda insurance!

My 1.5tsi SE Technology, manual was ordered 18th October, built 10th December, arrived at The Port of Tyne 18th December, at dealer on 21st December-am now just waiting to hear about my hand over date.

Spoke with my dealer yesterday, my car has had its pdi and just needs to be registered (I choose a number from the list of available ones).

I've arranged to pick the car up on Wednesday morning, and will get the winter tyres swooped from my current car at the same time.

This will give me a few days to get the insurance changed and my current car ready for collection by BCA next Thursday.

Any guide for 1.5TSI manual delivery times, with just a few options (privacy glass and tow-hook the only significant ones)? We may be ordering towards the end of Jan so if it's taking around the 4 month mark that will suit fine to fit in with the PCP / MOT etc.

Now I'm nearing the end of my contract, I've had a bit more information sent to me by VWFS and this thread seems as good a place as any to post it, to keep all the relevant stuff in one place for anyone that's interested.

Although the letter I received is headed Volkswagen Financial Services, it looks very much as though hand back/disposal of the car is managed by BCA and the car goes straight to auction - not a Skoda dealer's forecourt. When I called the number on the letter, it connected to BCA staff. BCA carry out the vehicle inspection immediately prior to collection and they also take the car away.

I've decided not to extend the existing contract and I've already bought the replacement so I won't be buying the Yeti either, but out of curiosity I called the helpline to obtain a purchase cost. I won't print the price here, but it was less (a lot less) than I was expecting. The combined sum of the settlement figure and the full outlay I've made for the full term of the PCH is considerably less than the original list price and also a lot less than any discounted price I could have hoped to achieve had I walked into the dealers with a suitcase full of cash in the first place. The settlement figure I was given was valid for that day & 2 weeks thereafter; that was two months before the end of the PCH and with around 1,400 miles still to be put on the car, so the purchase price at the very end of the contract will be even less. If you want to buy yourself a Yeti as a long term ownership proposition (as well as a short-term one, which is what I was after), I can say without a shadow of doubt that this is the way to do it. Whoever it was that posted their recommendation on here to take up a PCH for a Yeti in preference to a PCP on a Fabia, you know what you're on and I'm very grateful to you.

Anybody want to buy a well cared-for 2 year old Yeti L&K in almost perfect condition ? Only joking.....

After a couple of extended test drives I decided to purchase an Octavia (built this week) on PCH, so my Yeti will be going back next month (hopefully). I've had the letter from BCA re collection and will arrange a date to coincide with picking up the Octavia. I may use the Skoda free 5 day insurance to cover any overlap of having both vehicle.

If you don't mind, how much was the figure that you were quoted re purchasing the car (roughly)?

  12. I'm looking at new h7 bulbs for my Octavia (when it comes, hopefully next month). I normally us either Philips x-treme or Osram nightbreakers, however I see that powerbulbs also have PIAA Hyper Arros advertised.

Has anyone tried the PIAA ones, and if so, any they any good?

    Thanks
