  1. Keep up posted on that...what are the claims for durability?
  2. Have you ever ordered from the site? If so, how long did it take for delivery?
  3. I think we used to interact a fair bit, 6/7 years back, as we shared the obsession. If only we could entice ChrisRs and a few others back into the fold The new car is a stunner, I'm very jealous! Did you enjoy going through the steps again with the Audi? Thanks for outlining your process too
  4. You speak the truth, brother! I lug two of those bad boys around
  5. Great, I look forward to seeing what you do! Hopefully the thread will become a useful resource for Briskodian's when choosing products, or when we encounter specific issues. At the very least, we can ogle over beautiful motors!
  6. Hey all In an attempt to make this section a bit more lively again, I thought I'd start off a cleaning and detailing thread. Feel free to add pics of your shiny motors, describe your process, outline future work you intend to do, recommend products, etc. I'll kick off! I have owned this beast for 2 weeks now and gave it a deep clean to assess the paintwork. Process (& products); Jet wash to loosen dirt up Snow foam (AD purple velvet) 2 bucket method wash (Sonax gloss - first time using this and I was super impressed @ £6 a litre) Alloy clean (Gtechniq W6 Iron & General Fallout Remover then a general wash with the remaining Sonax shampoo) Clay bar (Bilthamber medium with Dodo Juice born slippy lube). I've never seen as much embedded tar/crap in a car's paintwork before! 2 bucket method wash - again! (Sonax gloss) Dry (my trusty 10 year old woolly mammoth towel. Still going strong) Polish glass (AutoGlym) Protective glass coat (RainX) Tyre dressing (Some cheap CarPlan rubbish. I'll look at getting a decent one soon). I decided not to wax it as there's a bunch of paint defects I want to polish out first. I'm about to order by first DA machine (das6 pro) to give it a go. Next time out; Touch in stone chips Polish out numerous swirls and fine scratches Sort out the dull D-pillar plastics Tidy up the interior, which TBF is in good shape already. Right, that'll do for the first post. My neighbours now think I'm quite peculiar and, having written it out, I can't disagree! I look forward to seeing your cleaned/detailed motors! Danny
  7. Great looking car! Did you sell it after all?
  8. Thanks for the detailed assessment pal, I appreciate that. I think I'll have a go with EZ through the current deal they've got going.
  9. Hey all I'm looking at a new set of alloys for my mk3 and have come across quite a few aftermarket replicas of Skoda Alloy designs. Has anyone else bought these before? I'm tempted as both the Vega and Xtreme designs have been replicated in 18", rather than 19", which would give a nice compromise between the style and the ride. That said, I did wonder if there was anytihnt o be wary of here? They are often sold without an indication of who the manufacturer is. Cheers in advance
  10. I'm the same. I cleaned the new (to me) octy last week after picking it up. It put such a smile on my face feeling those familiar contours all over again! I felt quite the freak after that 🤣🤣
  11. There definitely seems to be a slump in posts, here, but is that symptomatic of the forum as a whole? I've returned after a few years away and it seems really quiet across the board. The car care section used to be a good laugh, especially with @ChrisRs about. I spoke to him briefly about a year ago and he was well and enjoying retirement. I'll miss my trips to his gaff to get my cars all shiny!
  12. Car looks fantastic and you've done a good job getting the swirls out of the gloss sides. Those wheels look great too!
  13. It does, thanks. I guess, like most car care ranges, there are some good items and some weaker ones. I need a new set of buckets anyway, which would set me back about £20, so I will probably get decent value out of the offer.
  14. Hey all. EZ have another one of their 'build a bucket' offers on, which looks like a good deal. That said, I've never used EZ products before, are they any cop?
  15. ...but I promise to be faithful from now! I'm back in an Octavia and I couldn't be happier. Picking this 2.0L TDI Elegance up today, in race blue with tons of extras. 84k on the clock, which is pretty reasonable for a '13 plate too. I sold my '63 vrs a year ago for a Merc c350e, after 12 years in octavias...But boy has life changed a lot (thanks covid) since then and it makes sense to step back into my comfort zone. Ive missed this forum and I look forward to chatting over on the mk3 section! Am I forgiven?
  16. Yep, I've decided to let it go. I didn't think cars would ever affect me, emotionally, until now!
  17. Cheers all. I'll have a think and will certainly check out insurance options before proceeding. I test drove it today and am now kicking myself for selling it. I'm so torn!
  18. ...when I was considering buying another Skoda! It's listed on Facebook and is quite close by! I bought it new and traded it in last March. I've regretted it ever since! The chances of coming across it again are miniscule, and I'd love to buy it back. Only problem is, it's now a Cat S. The seller doesn't seem to know much about the nature of the write off, is there any way to find out?
  19. Hey all I tried taking the glove box light out earlier to stick and LED bulb in, and the thing disintegrated in my hand! I've got no idea how these go back together, can anyone help? Thanks in advance! Danny
