No need to apologise pal. Like you, I'm baffled by it!

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
I've had the car 3 weeks, so I'm pretty sure it's occurred under the previous ownership/s!

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
Cheers gents. Yeah, I'm leaning towards this being wear and tear rather than a bizarre mod. A trip to the scrapyard it is!

Seat Belt Cutting Through Plastic Surround
Hey all Has anyone encountered this before? Would it be difficult to replace the surround, with the airbag being there? Cheers

Green algae behind edge of front fog lights
I was going to suggest this, or a small detailer's brush (hog hair). If you use a toothbrush, just make sure it's as soft as possible to avoid small scratches around the light. Good luck!

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
My second time on the register (just this one, thanks) and 3rd octy. Mk3 Elegance in race blue. MY13. Almost every option added! Three weeks in and I'm delighted to be back in an Octavia.

Octavia Fault codes
Wow, this is turning into quite an ordeal for you @Northam. It's the stuff of nightmares when buying a new car. I haven't got any practical advice or solutions, sadly, but I hope this gets sorted for you soon. It'd be nice for you and your wife to enjoy the car and have confidence in it at long last.

Do all bi-xenon's dance?
Auto. It's looking like a trip to VCDS owner to enable AFS

Less interest Detailing nowadays?...
This sounds plausible, but I've read a complete opposite argument that also makes sense too! It's along the lines of 'new cars are increasingly expensive, yet cars actually last a lot longer and it's more economical to treat a car well than it is to keep replacing'. I guess a better measure for such things would be the traffic for a dedicated detailing forum, rather than this subsection for a specific car manufacturer. The volume of products being released doesn't seem to have relented at all, and the following of some social media-savvy detailers is huge, so it would seem as though the broader interest is still there in abundance.

Cleaning & Detailing: what did you do to your motor today?
Thanks, I appreciate that. It has definitely yielded a significant improvement in some areas. The before pic of the bootlid probably doesn't do justice to how bad the scratches on it were...you've probably picked out the most improved section there! So far it is a one stage, but over the course of this week I'm going to go back and finish off stage 1, do some targeted polishing over a few evident scratches and then do a finishing polish. I'll then finally be able to seal it up with some wax. Phew. How did you find the Menzerna heavy cut to use? I've looked at that and Koch Chemie's 8.02 to upgrade on the Meguiars (already!).

Cleaning & Detailing: what did you do to your motor today?
2 hours cleaning and masking, then 10 hours polishing with very few breaks. It was quite an ordeal, tbh! I think a lot of it was just building confidence using the machine and breaking down the compound effectively. The meguiars compound didn't help matters, either. The dust was incredible and made it a far less pleasant experience. I broke things down into small sections and once I got into the grove I was increasingly steady and consistent. I've got a couple of areas to revisit, but the process corrected a lot of issues with the paint so overall I'm pleased!

Second Skoda so far, love it.
Looks great! Best colour too 👍

Cleaning & Detailing: what did you do to your motor today?
Well, yesterday was intense. My first time using a machine polisher to try and correct the paintwork. There were numerous scratches, scuffs and a ton of really bad swirling. I couldn't get them all out, but I did my best! I debadged to make the polishing easier. First up, the clean. Process (& products); Jet wash to loosen dirt up Snow foam (AD purple velvet) Rinse 2 bucket method wash (Sonax gloss) Alloy clean (Gtechniq W6 Iron & General Fallout Remover) 2 bucket method wash - again! (Sonax gloss) Rinse Dry (woolly mammoth towel) The value of the grit guard and 2 bucket method! Some before and after shot with the das 6 pro DA and Meguiars 205. I plan to do a finishing polish and wax soon, but it got to 10pm and I was absolutely knackered! When it stops raining, I'll drop some pics of the full car.

Do all bi-xenon's dance?
OK, I finally had a chance to observe how the xenons behave. They don't seem to dance, fully. If my eyes are right, they take it in turns to move up and down, but I couldn't see any L-R movement. Is there a VCDS setting I can manipulate for the full dance? Cheers all

Retro-fit DCC suspension; is it possible?
Hey all Forgive this post if the answer is obvious, I'm rather naive when it comes to stuff like this. I have a 2013 mk3 Elegance and, like many of us, I find the hard ride one of its few negatives. There are quite a few mk7 Golf DCC suspension set ups kicking about now and I wondered how difficult it would be to retrofit this to a pre-FL, where DCC wasn't an option,. If not...Bilstein/Eibach it is! Cheers in advance

Do all bi-xenon's dance?
I'm still to check this out, but looking at the options in the 2013 brochure it seems as though all bi-xenons have AFS.

Do all bi-xenon's dance?
No, there's no warning on the dash at all and the lights work well. I am wondering if I have missed the dance somehow. I'll take lights off auto and try it tonight with ignition on. Cheers!

Do all bi-xenon's dance?
It's an odd question, admittedly, but bear with me! My old vRS (mk3 '63 plate) had bi-xenons as standard. When starting the car, the xenons used to do a leveling-up dance. I'm not quite sure what the purpose was, but they did nonetheless. Fast forward to now; I'm in a mk3 '13 plate elegance with bi-xenons added as an optional extra. They don't do the dance though! Can anyone shed some (bi-xenon) light on this? Is something wrong? Is it a feature added after the initial models were made? Is it something that can be changed in VCDS? Thanks in advance

De-Chrome Wrap
I haven't done it to this extent, but did some of my own wrap work several years ago and was surprised at how easy it was. I'd be tempted to look into decent quality wrap, some how to guides, and save the majority of that £400. It seems a lot of money for what's involved.
