  1. Hello, its not an Octavia, its a Golf 1.8T but you guys share the same engine?? Anyway, I took a friend to pick one up tonight, drove it home 70miles or so. Quite a fast drive to be honest but nothing stupid. When we pulled up I noticed his car was tapping pretty loudly on idle, this dissapears when you rev it up over 1500rpm but if you drop below it comes back again. I had a listen under the bonnet and it does seem the noise is coming from the head/rocker cover area. I have searched google and have read many posts stating that these engines do make tapping noises from time to time but having heard his previous 1.8T running, which sounded sweet as, i'm a bit concerned. It seems pretty slow aswell, his previous one although remapped used to pull away from my standard Fabia VRS pretty sharpish, this one cant keep up at all! Any ideas guys? To be honest I think he has bought a bag of ****e but don't have the heart to tell him!
  2. Skoda showed a Fabia design study at Geneva, previewing the next vRS model, due within the next 12 months While SEAT is supposed to be VW's sporty brand, Skoda looks intent of stealing the Spanish make's thunder. And that's because while SEAT has had to cut its motorsport operations, Skoda has built a corking S2000 rally car, and that machine has inspired the Czech maker to build a new Fabia vRS. According to chaps on the Skoda stand, the finished vRS will look like a cross between the car shown at Geneva and the rally car, and will be powered by the brilliant 1.4-litre turbo and supercharged VW engine, tweaked to give around 180hp. The Skoda will beat the simlarly-engined Polo GTI to showrooms by a fair bit too. Sounds like a cracker. Geneva 2009: Skoda Fabia vRS - iMotor

  12. Hey guys, I have had my VRS for about 3 weeks and its started to feel a bit dull on the power front. I'm wondering if its either me getting used to it or if it really is down on power. Is there anything I can check/clean up to get it feeling a bit more snappy?? I'm wondering if it could be due to all this wet weather we have been having... lots of puddles and things.... maybe some dirt in the filter?? sensors need cleaning?? Any info would be great! Steve
  13. My father took my vRS to Skoda in Swansea and they sorted the doors..... They were put through the ultimate test yesterday, I drove through what seemed to be a "puddle" but turned out to be alot larger than i expected! At one point the car floated, seriously!! It wasnt aquaplaning, it WAS floating, i kept my foot firmly planted on the peddle whilst dropping a load in my pants. I eventually managed to "sail" through the "puddle", checked over the whole car and eveything seems fine. No leakage into the car, no water sucked into the engine, air filter was dry etc etc The moral of the story is ; If you have your doors sealed, a vRS can also act as a amphibious vehicle.

  17. Hello guys!! Just joined the forum as i'm going to be a proud owner of a 06 plate Fabia VRS as of Wednesday. I live in South West Wales and i'm going to be looking to get the car remapped ASAP! Does anyone know of any decent tuners in Wales I could visit? Whats the average price of a remap? Thanks
