  1. I got bored of seriously looking at stuff so i'm now a 17 year old who wants an Impreza WR1 that'll be £7655.98 please hmm well i like 4 wheel drive but jap just isn't exotic enough Murcielago? much better that'll be £44,320.96
  2. Why must we go around the same merry go round every 12 months Mrs Pasty's renewal advice arrived this morning and was almost £700?! 32 year old woman with no accidents, no claims, no points, no convictions and 6 years no claims ok the A3 is a fancy one but seriously what the actual f---? Especially when comparing meerkats results in more like £250. grrrr so begin a week of putting the same data into hundreds of websites and arguing over prices
  3. Similar (but not a dramatic as mine) Damage to the A pillar will mean a write off as said as it's more than the car is worth to straighten everything up. As said though by it back and sell it for parts. I bought mine (04 115k) back for £350
  4. well this morning fibre is now no longer on the table :( On speaking to BT it would seem our cabinet is oversubscribed as it is and all fibre slots will be taken. If it said yes yesterday it's cos someone left leaving a slot, which this morning has already been filled - due to them being able to put you on a "waiting list" if you take their standard copper service. So this morning = nothing doing. FFS. and despite plenty of arguing there was indeed no way they'd agree to ever refund the "activation charge". Although there is a grace period if you want to cancel the contract though; so i reckon if i signed up for the Infinity2 contract including it's free activation then realise i'll never need 80MB and downgrade to Infinity1 at 40MB it'll already be activated for free. Naive or what and completely pointless really as there ain't no free ends of the fibre cable anyway time to negotiate my copper service down from a frankly ludicrous £15 a month then
  5. ah yeah if the options are important then yeah it's not a bad car when you consider it's got £250 of remap on it and if you can negotiate in a reduction due to the impending big service work it might be a decent deal makes me think i underpriced my totally standard 85,000 miler that i sold for £2500 last year
  6. ok maybe £500 too expensive then or maybe i just sold my Fabia too cheap or maybe my expectations are off or maybe price have risen again but to me £3000 for a 10 year old car with 110,000 miles seems like a lot. In the end it's your money and only you can decide what represents good value to you Assume it's this one? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201601059821531?sort=default&search-target=usedcars&price-to=3000&make=skoda&postcode=gl34fn&model=fabia&price-from=2500&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&page=3&fuel-type=diesel&radius=1500&keywords=vrs&logcode=p
  7. It's about £1000 too expensive Red 85,000 miles - £2850
  8. Probably more like Aahhh.....ooowwww....now i'l have to take the Lambo tomorrow
  9. I've had to speak to Sky once when the speed dropped from it's 2MB to a consistent 0.25MB and they were great, called me back so they were paying, did some tests, confirmed something was up and had it fixed in about an hour (probably turned something off and on again) There's a big old local facebook community moaning about internet speeds. Apparently BT have only put one "cabinet" in for the entire new development which is now around 1200 homes. but it seems a bit of a lottery. some peopel are moaning about 0.5mB service and having to cancel "fibre services" that was only giving them 1MB but then other screen shots of speedtests giving 19MB and 75MB. I know the 19MB property is in close proximity to the cabinet and think that is always going to help. i wonder if either BT or Sky will upgrade me as a trial and i'll pay the activation etc if i get what i want otherwise just switch me back
  10. I've had my broadband via my phone line for the last 7 or 8 years. It was originally with O2 as a deal off the back of my mobile contract and then Sky bought them so now it's with them. Following a move to a new build 5 years ago speed has been pretty bad (2MB on a good day) but that has been a widely reported problem for the development. However whilst looking for a solution today it seems that BT have pulled their finger out and put fibre in - Hoorah Having spoken direct to BT (as the landline is still supplied through them) it's "fibre to the cabinet" which is about 50 yards up the road. They then attempted to sell me Infinity1 at up to 40MB or Infinity2 at up to 80MB. Having spoken to Sky they also now concur that I can get a fibre service and quoted the same speeds at pretty much identical prices if i move the phone line over to them too. Given they both use the same cables and quote the same speeds is there really any need to consider anything other than price in my decision? I know Sky's servers have proved ok for me so far and that while my parents have no issues with their BT service the inlaws do have common drop outs. help
  11. Exactly the same scenario happened to me when my turbo disintegrated. Accelerated off a roundabout, lost all power, pulled over, would turn over but it wouldn't start, Wouldn't start as the turbo had destroyed iteself so completely it blocked the airflow to the engine. Should look like this Actually looked like this:
  12. Just keep on at them. It took me almost 18 months to finally get my case closed and that involved 2 written off vehicles When i had a woman pull out of a side road into my me I simply rang my insurance and said I wanted to make a claim against X. She pulled out of a side road, into the side of me - BOOM - 2 write offs. They did everything else Got me a hire car, took my car off to be evaluated and subsequently written off and paid me my value back so i could buy a new car. Only after all that had happened did the 3rd party try to apportion some blame my way and get me to agree to 50/50. **** that. black and white case she pulled out into me no chance. keep fighting. So they did and eventually after over 12 months (18 months in total) the 3rd party eventually backed down. have a read here (although maybe not with any sharp objects around)
  13. After the revelation that a colleague's grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather) was the biggest goat farmer in our local area "back in the day" I photoshopped her head onto the body of a goat. Brought me joy at least
  14. My media has been moved a long time ago to my 3TB NAS and this drive has sat gathering dust ever since. Anybody out there have a home for it? supplied with suitable USB cable and power block £25 delivered to your door
  15. hope this helps while a little rough around the edges i'm sure it'd tidy up quite nice
  16. Most but not my mum's apparently :(
  17. Having looked at the games which are available most i'm only downloading because they are free. I've looked at Jan's current offering, and previous months and there are only about 4 of 16 games i'd have ever considered actually purchasing. I reckon £15 on an enclosure and use the 500GB i have should see me fine for the time being. Can't on the xbox. Microsoft went down the route of allowing external storage while Sony and the PS4 don't allow external storage but you can just swap the hard drive in the console itself.
  18. If the difference between remap and dtuk box is enough for you to justify i'd go remap everytime. While the DTUK box I have on my Ibiza is an improvement over stanadrd it's got too many small issues and isn't perfect enough for me to warrant ever paying full price for one. Second hand one at £200-250 though id be tempted to get one for the wife's A3 too... have a read of this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/382922-help-w-dtuk-box/
  19. The plan was to keep a small library of paid for games but it seems silly to ignore free ones if they are there. Although the fact you need a new £60 hard drive to store them on makes then not free i guess - hence the harumpf. Console is great. Forza 6 is amazing and the latest Call of Duty's are great. All single player at the moment as I'm not sure if my 2Mb (on a good day) internet will cope with next gen gaming so i've not forked out another £28 for Gold membership yet. Have a few 48 trials, 14 days trials, and 1 month tria, to use up once the net is upgraded. As such I've not got any free games yet but having browsed previous titles is seems like a collection of "lesser" One titles and some big (but old) 360 titles. Should be worth it
  20. Excellent news maybe i'll see if i can get the maxtor apart later on. Although looking at it just the xbox ones games 2 free a month = 24 games at 30GB each that's 720GB on their own before i download the 24 xbox 360 games (24 x 8GB = ~200GB) that i also get free. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a biggun to begin with
  21. I've done all 3 dependant on my mood Generally I hope beyond hope that a car travelling from lane 1, right across their mirror, overtaking them and then pulling back across 3 lanes infront of them will be enough to prompt movement out of the middle lane. Other times (generally if lane 3 is busy) I'll pull out to lane 2 behnid them, if they don't pull over, give them a little flash, if they still don't pull over, lane 3 overtake, then a 3 lane change in front of them. Other times if I really can't be arsed I'll just undertake them. Or of course if i really can't be arsed i tend to just drive along in the middle lane oblivious to everything
  22. I have recently purchased an xbox one and with just 8 games installed it's internal 500GB storage is already almost full (that's a moan for another thread) The xbox allows the usage of any USB 3.0 external drive for additonal storage though - hoorah. I've seen a 2TB external travel drive for around £65 however that's money I don't really want to spend but when a "free" game - of which you get 2 a month - is 30GB I'm really going to need more storage. I have an old empty and unused Maxtor OneTouch sat inches from the xbox but it's USB 2.0 interface means it might as well actually be the house brick it looks like. There are 500GB USB3.0 hard drives out there for around £25 but again if i don't have to spend that it'd be great not to. What do we think the likelihood is of benig able to exract the disc from the old drive and insert into a new USB 3.0 enclosure much like this one?
