  1. What's the reasoning behind the change? Just after something newer and nicer? Are you set on sticking to Skoda? Seat do what Skoda won't and put the CR140 engine in their small hatch, which in my opinion is the natrual upgrade from a PD130 mk1 VRS. Just made the change over to an Ibiza FR myself and can't say I regret it. I said at the time if Skoda put the CR140 in a Monte i'd have had one of those instead but they don't so i couldn't. Something like this one
  2. The Ibiza came with relatively new tyres all round when we collected it. The rears were dealer fit "new" budget tyres - Accelera Alpha no less The fronts were a legacy from the previous owners - being a pair of Vredestein Wintrax Xtremes. This is not the time or place for a "WTF? Winter tyres on the front only" argument but I am more than aware of the much increased wear rates of winters as the weather warms up. I was going to buy a set of summers but that seems a waste of the decently treaded rear budgets it has and with the wedding coming up the wallet is a little light anyways Is simply sticking Acceleras on all 4 corners to balance things out luncay or the best plan?
  3. Journey down to cornwall in the Beezer last night, 160 miles topped off nicely with a reading of 65mpg. At least 10 better than I've ever seen in the Fabias. The CR engine is certainly much nicer than the PD one. It is starting to feel a little slow though. The linear power delivery and lack of big fat torque spike masks the acceleration somewhat.
  4. Sorry. My fault entirely. My humblest apologies. Jerry have handed his turn over to you.
  5. Richard how far into the process is all the work? When the paint is completed does it just need all the bits bolting back on and away you go or do Jabba still have more work to do after that? Surely you could part company with Jabba thank them for their services and get someone else to assemble it? I know that Unit 18 would relish the challenge and is in a unit next to a body repair place....
  6. Have a look at this thread http://www.briskoda....-refurb-thread/ Sparkly did his Leon winter wheels with grey plastidip style stuff from CardipUK http://www.cardipuk.com/ They also do a pack of 4 can specifically for sets of alloys http://www.ekmpowers...-cans-232-p.asp you could also get a few cans extra and do the roof and mirrors in plastdip stuff instead of wrap. depends on how confident you are in your DIY powers i guess Fabia Citreon DS3 version coming your way

  8. it is indeed the shnozz vents of the later mk2 LCR
  9. As per the posts at the very beginning of the thread other than the airbags going off her damage was limited to a cracked numberplate and bumper. She may have gone to a scrappy sourced new airbags and decided not to bother claiming. Her accident report could have been submitted just as a response to me clamiing against her and through her insurers need to know her side of the story. Admiral clearly then deem that it casts enough doubt to argue liability.....yet still paid out a payment without prejudice - a measure to get me out of a hire car and stop me amassing thousands of pounds worth of hire charges which they maybe not be confident enough to win back.... who the hell knows...
  10. so my claims people are literally only chasing for settlement on the costs of the hire vehicle i had for 2 weeks following the accident - NOTHING ELSE Quindell have submitted an invoice for say £70 a day for 14 days = £980 Admiral have refused and offered 50/50 on that Quindell refused and were going to go to court. Until their legal team caved in and decided it'd be too hard to win in court and now want to settle @ £490 each The £490 bill Quindell are stuck with will NOT be claims off my insurance policy not will i be chased for it personally. The £3000 i had as settlement for my car is safe and Admiral have no way of ever clamiing that back from me personally or from my insurers. Having spoken to the guys at my insurance to confirm that for sure (and learnt more in 20 minutes than i have in the last 4 months!) the third party in the Freelander hasn't even made a claim against me!! She's submitted no claim for repairs, no claim for total loss recovery following a write off, no claim for hire costs NOTHING! He expected to have this closed by this afternoon!
  11. FFS ok this is getting ridiculous now and i'm not sure anyone knows what's going on! GRRR!
  12. Scratch that - already too late It would appear that my claims guy has now spoken to the legal guy and my guys have backed down. With no witnesses and no evidence either way her claim that i "overtook at a junction" is enough to destroy any case we may try to build on the fact that the guy in front of my had already left the carriageway. Apparently as we are contesting their offer the onus is on us to prove what happened - which we can't, so the judge would laugh, I would cry, and i'd be stiffed with 80% of the bill. Fun times
  13. aaaaaand we're going to court. :( The third party are still admant that i overtook a car stopped in my lane of traffic (not in the slip road) and that i did a wild overtake on the wrong side of the road hence being in the wrong place at the wrong time when she pulled out. They have offered 50/50 but my insurers are rejecting that as they are equally adamant that it's her fault not mine. Who the hell knows. With no proof i can't see I think there are now 3 potential outcomes: we decide to settle at 50/50 and my policy increases due to the claim we go to court and i win - she pays everything i'm unaffected we go to court and i lose meaning as i was the one who pushed it to court the fees will be split 80/20 and my policy increases more due to the larger claim Maybe
  14. incredibly close but no cigar. think ever so slightly larger
  15. Rich I'll take the PastyWagon's pedals back and maybe have those Leon alloys back as well
