  1. done brum to middlesbrough and back overnight a couple of times, 400 odd miles. brum to new quay, wales and back overnight only 320 miles or so but much more fun. one of the boro trips was during one of the major cold snaps a couple years ago, several inches of snow/slush on motorway, with cars broken down/abandoned everywhere. the felly got me home with no drama
  2. 2000, first registered 28/09/00 (the one with 10k) and 28/11/00. Everything on it is sweet as a nut other than the electric windows closing rather slow and clutch squealing. (thrust bearing?) temp rises as should and engine is perfect. other one makes a cloud of smoke when started, idles lumpy, engine rattles and shakes all over the place, clutch slips, tries to go sideways at the slightest whiff of a corner and the heaters never get warm but has been like that for ages. never left me at the side of the road and goes like stink. it refuses to die so will get a new lease of life
  3. i have 2 felly's, both X reg classics (1.3) One 80ish K (odo broke) and broken thermostat, has been broken for years.. other has only just hit 10k and is in full working order. the old heap is quicker and less thirsty. maybe thats why? ill have to try swapping the thermostats over and see what happens
  4. i dont fully understand it all, but remember reading on here when changing my HU, that you can wire in a switched live from the sidelight switch. dont know if this will make it on/off with ignition (like dipped beams do)? otherwise beware your battery doesnt slowly get drained. many modern head units dont turn off fully rather sort of standby. i get around this by popping off the removable front
  5. recently discovered with the felly if you start shifting into reverse gently it activates reverse light before going into gear (or at 70 crunching a bit if not careful), most effective!
  6. new head unit will come with metal cage. take the old unit and cage out of the plastic tray (cage will be held in with bent bits, bend them back with a screwdriver or something suitable) insert new (right way around) and fix in place, stereo should slot in nicely There is a little hook on top of the connector you have to push to disconnect it. Also may be of use to know, there is wiring upto behind the front kickpanels for rear speakers, had my old sub hooked up here with original stereo ill give you a hand with it if needed, being so local and all
  7. So much for replacing the old one, they look too good together. Both just washed and waxxed
  8. Problem solved, pulled the above wire and put loop back
  9. the usual loop from perm live to switched live has been cut and replaced with another wire it seems. Anyone have any clue? Cant find my Haynes either :(
  10. After searching through old posts I am rather confused, felicia wiring has no switched live for stereo, but 2 perm lives? The new unit will only turn on (which it does automatically) with ignition on/engine running. Turn ignition off and HU turns itsself off too, losing all settings/stored stations etc. It seems with Fellys and aftermarket HU's the usual problem is the HU is always powered? This is how i want it! (Use radio a lot with car stationary) Factory fitted unit also powers itsself on/off on ignition but can also be turned on/off without. Replacement unit is a Pioneer DEH-2400UB. Any advice? cheers!
  11. 1.9D? barely run it in then :p the "old" ones odometer broke on 56k or so :( looking for a replacement
  12. ill see what comes along, 130 - 140 bhp would be nice
  13. just spent all bloody afternoon/evening looking for this topic in old pages. eventually gave up and find it right at the top.. just got a "new" felly (X reg 9500 miles), so looking for something daft to do with the "old" one.
  14. washed and polished the "new" felly, phone pics dont do it justice..
  15. Indeed one lady owner only used it for weekly run to church apparently, for once I believe them Just sailed through MOT.
  16. Picked her up today to replace her identical twin sister. It seems time has been very kind to her lol just noticed its parked on double yellows, I didnt park there, got the pics from dealer website Chuffed!
  17. im sure i read somewhere on this forum that no carbed felly's were sold in UK, not sure how accurate this is but ive not seen one

  19. I think you just have to do just one of several maneuvers (examiners choice). bay park, parallel park, 3 point turn etc. Was the case a few years ago at least.
  20. id check for play in lower ball joint first, though its not always obvious under inspection. usually sounds more like knocking
