  1. I briefly considered the Urban Cruiser when it was first released but was put off by its 3 star NCAP rating.
  2. Steady now, remember to take your tablets and don't be counting the number of sleeps left.

    Yeti door

I'm on my second Yeti and have not experienced this problem but have noticed an increase in road noise in my Greenline compared to my 110 which I suspect is due to reduced soundproofing and the Conti tyres. I would suggest to keep on top of this and consider contacting Skoda Ireland directly if you get no satisfaction. Which model and spec did you go for this time and other than the door seal problem, how do you find it?
  4. Elaborating on what Lianigraham said If you compare the diagrams showing the areas of injury to adult occupants in both vehicles and compare the severity the Dacia falls down badly on chest inuries compared to the Yeti as can be seen below. http://www.euroncap.com/results/dacia/duster/2011/421.aspx Protection of the chest was rated as marginal for both front seat occupants, based on dummy readings of chest compression. No doors opened in the more severe side pole impact but protection of the driver's chest was rated as weak because of dummy readings of rib compression. Protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision was rated as marginal. http://www.euroncap.com/results/skoda/yeti/368.aspx The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact and dummy readings indicated good or adequate protection in all body areas. Airbags to protect the chest and the head in a side impact were fitted to the test vehicle. Although they are not standard across the model range, they are expected to be standard equipment in the great majority of sales and met Euro NCAP's requirements for inclusion in the assessment. The airbags helped the car to gain maximum points in the side barrier impact. In the more severe side pole test, chest protection was rated as marginal. Protection against whiplash injury in a rear impact was good. Considering the number of fatalities from chest injuries I think I'd pick the Yeti against the Dacia every time, even in the 2nd hand market. Bear in mind that NCAP tests are carried out at moderate speed. http://www.euroncap.com/Content-Web-Page/90769bbc-bb74-4129-a046-e586550c3ece/pole-side-impact.aspx http://www.euroncap.com/tests/frontimpact.aspx
  5. It is indeed an emotive issue, without wanting to comment on the circumstances of the incident you mentioned I tend to agree that people need to take responsibility for their own safety as this youtube clip shows:
  6. Last year I purchased a ceramic heater in Maplins that plugs into the cigarette lighter to help defrost the windscreen. It's not by any means perfect and you won't be blown away (no pun intended) by its efficiency but it's certainly quicker than waiting for the Yeti's heater to clear the windscreen. I mounted it on one of those non slip sat nav dash mats as I didn't fancy drilling holes in my dash.
  7. The difference here is 160euro road tax for the Greenline v 225 euro for the 110 hence the Greenline is the most popular choice. Diesel costing 156.9c a litre also helps to tip the balance.
  8. Wow Blue Peter certainly started something with all that "sticky backed plastic" you'll be telling me that you can make a DPF out of a washing up liquid bottle next. On a serious note I know some Ambulance services have used Yellow vinyl on their response cars as an alternative to repraying them.
  9. I'm away to look for a Lime Yellow respray.
  10. I did a google search on which colours of cars are the safest and came across this: http://www.aaafoundation.org/pdf/CarColorAndSafety.pdf The conclusion of the article being: "When choosing a vehicle, the bottom line is that there is presently no scientific evidence supporting the selection of one particular vehicle color as the unambiguous best choice for safety."
  11. You've probably hit the nail on the head there. Altough having owned both I'd still say the 110 is a nicer drive compared to the Greenline's long legged gear ratios. But fuel economy and lower emissions work in the Greenlines favour in the long run.
  12. Green is generally considered an unlucky colour on a car and because of that its not popular, which means its not the best option come resale time. "The day you buy is the day you sell."
  13. The most frustrating part of the wait, knowing its in the country but waits for a slot on a transporter.
  14. I like those as they look less like fairy lights and add that extra something to the car.
  15. So near and yet so far. Mine sat in NVD for nearly two weeks while they organised PDI and transport. Let us know what you think when you finaly get it, I'd be particulary interested in comparing spec as the Skoda Ireland spec list appears to include some items such as auto dimming mirrors which are not on mine.
  16. It could indeed be an aftermarket add on as I have heard of some Dublin dealers offering leather upgrade for less than the factory price. The Irish spec Elegance also has climatronic as standard which this one does not and I've never seen a Greenline without the stop start switch. My guess is that this is a 2litre Ambition model with dealer fit Leather upholstery.
  17. Much prefer the standard black, the silver just screams "cheap".
  18. I have the same tyres on my Greenline and agree that they do seem to contribute to the cabin noise. I had Michelen Energy saver on the Octavia and they seemed less noisy and also had a reasonable wear rate.
  19. Certainly been rolled and as Plumber said has stood up to it fairly well, maybe the driver was too busy watching out for the helicopter and didn,t keep his eyes on the road. I wonder how much it would cost to put it right?
  20. I too was inmpressed the way it felt stationary as was SWMBO. The look and build quality of the cockpit was spot on, the seats were supportive and it wrapped around you but it just didn,t tick the box in terms of handling and feedback.
  21. It liked the styling of he Sportage so when I was considering a replacement for my last Yeti I took one for a test drive. I have to say that I wasn't that impressed, it was a fairly lifeless thing to drive. It also lacked the practicality of the Yeti in that the boot appeared smaller and the rear seats did not fold flat. Interms of value for money the mid range model which comes with half leather interior and panaramic sunroof costs 28,800 over here and even with dealer discounts the price to change was way over the top.
  22. I covered 42K Kilometres on my Dunlop SP1's, that was mostly on Motorways and Urban roads with a small % of crappy surface rural roads. Then again I did not encounter any Irish cousins of the Welsh farm collies or carry any heavy loads. Most of the time it was just me on board and I did keep an eye on tyre pressures. There was still about 4mm left on the rear tyres and 3mm on the front when I changed to Winter tyres in November.
  23. Just to confuse matters their price list doesn't mention the 1.8TSI either. Then their spec list mentions autodimming exterior mirrors for the Elegance which they no longer supply as standard. Loads of errors on spec such as wheel size for the Greenline being incorrect, they obviously cut and paste from other documents without cross checking what they are actualy supplying.
  24. It is a main dealer who also has a Merc franchise. Maybe it is from their own libary. The first thing that drew my attantion to it was that I've never seen that leather combination here before. Usualy you get Black leather or Gobi, the Gobi having matching door cards. It looks like an Ambition model with an after market upholstery job and not a Greenline model in Elegance spec.
  25. I came across this advert on an irish used car website. http://www.carzone.ie/search/Skoda/Yeti/Elegance/1513276685073720/advert?channel=CARS It's listed as a Greenline Elegance but doesn't appear to be for the following reasons: 1: no stop/start button 2: No climatronic 3: Not moon alloys 4: The leather upholstery with gobi inserts on black door cards. 5: The dash inlay is listed a wood effect which clearly is not. Is this a dealer special? Is the upholstery a dealer retrofit is is this option available? Is it a mongrel? And finaly why did they put in those blingy floor mats?
