  1. I think it gets better over time as I noticed a difference between my previous Yeti and my present one.

One of those Do'h moments so. The heated screen should be worth its weight in gold these mornings. What colour did you go for?
  3. It should work straight from the dvd without no need to transfer to an SD card. You can transfer it to a card if you want to be able to play a cd. I used a SD card that already had music on it for mine and it worked with no problems. Make sure you have enough room on the card for the maps and don't remove the dvd until prompted by the unit. Try the obvious first like is the dvd scratched or damaged, does the unit play a cd with no problems? I can't help you with the last part of the query.
  4. My wife has one of these its a 2008 1.5litre 3 cylinder diesel automatic. I have heard that they no longer make the diesel version because Merceedes no longer supply the engine to Mitsubishi in Holland. The automatic transmission is not as smooth as a DSG or even her previous Nissan Micra CVT. The trick is to drive with your toes and don't be temped to floor it when pulling away in traffic. Do this and it can be quite smooth, floor it and it hesitates. Economy is quite good and much better than the Micra if you drive it sensibly. We bought it because she has a long commute to work and needed an economical automatic with low emissions. The interior is a bit cheap plasticy in places but not bad all the same. Road noise is as you would expect in a car this size. Space inside is well thought out and all in all it is a good package at this price.
  5. I put down the 6 months plus option on the survey as I only ever seen evidence of what may have been a DPF regeneration once in the time I owned my 2litre 110 Yeti. My daily commute is over 50miles each way with 20 miles of that on the motorway which probably helps blow the soot away. Skoda UK should bite the bullet on your car Plumber and investigate the issue in more detail, even if it means changing all possible parts in sequence to find the culprit. Just because the computer can't find the fault shouldn't mean there isn't one, the computer can only search the parameters that are in its algorithms. My grandfather was a self taught fitter/mechanic who worked his way up from driving steam rollers to maintaining and repairing steam and diesel engines for the local county council. Having never formaly served his time he relied on his eyes, ears and nose to tell him if something was wrong. In the locality he was the local "go to" man if someone was stumped with a mechanical problem that couldn't be fixed. Granted technology has come a long way since then but there is a case for mechanic/technicians who can use their senses and skills and not just a diagnostic computer to tell them what is wrong with an engine. I realise that dealers are not keen to change parts without computer evidence of a fault for fear of the manufacture not footing the bill but the computer is not always right. At the end of the day customer satisfaction should be the driving force as thats what generates repeat sales.
  6. Bought my Yeti from TMC and all in all the experience was positive. Sales and service was spot on and my experience of after sales was also positive. Have no problem recommending them.
  7. Is it not written on a label on the inside of the fuel cap?
  8. Seems to be alright although I only do it as a hobby. The shape of the boot is ideal for all the gear. If you haven't already tried TMC cars, they might be worth a shout as I got the best deal from him after pricing around other Skoda dealers.
  9. The impact appears to have been to the rear of the vehicle with the majority of the structure remaining intact. Indeed there is minimal intrusion to the saloon even at the rear. Its possible that the occupant was unrestrained and impacted with the cars interior or was hit by flying glass. If they were seriously injured in that situation they would more have been rapidly extricated and time would not have been taken to remove the roof so I would be doubtful if there was a fatality or life threatening injury in the vehicle altough there is always a slim possiblity. It is more likely that the roof was removed in this case to facilitate easy access for a patient with more moderate inuries. But as already said this topic has been raised on a number of occassions.
  10. Looks really well in Black with the sunset glass and Gobi interior. The cornering fogs can be turned off in Maxidot altough as I live in the sticks I find them very useful. If I was living in the big smoke I might not use them as much.
  11. I've heard that the new man in charge of VW Ireland was over the Seat brand in UK and is trying to build up their sales which up to now have been disappointing. But I also think that the spec was trimmed back to keep the prices down. If you find a dealer stock model to suit your needs it may have the Amunsden radio unit if it was ordered by the dealer between Nov and December 2011. I changed from a 2010 Ambition model to an Elegance spec for the same reason and found it was worthwhile shopping around. There was the option of getting an Ambition and adding the adventure pack but that was more expensive than the Elegance altough you do get the sunroof. PM me if you want and I'll give you an idea of the offers I recieved to change. It might also be worth looking at the 2.0litre 140 Greentech model altough it is more expensive.
  12. I thought they looked ok, but the black ones are ok aswell so I think I'll hold onto my money and keep the Troica happy for now.
  13. Mine are black I wonder is it possible and not overly expensive to retrofit the silver ones.
  14. I've just checked the spec sheet and you're right. Its the same with the roof rails the Ambition and Elegance used to come with silver roof rails but these have been removed from the list. All these are to keep the price down I expect. The 1.6TDi has around the same amount of poke as my previous 110TDi with better fuel economy expected when it loosens up. How much of the five months wait was down to your work sorting out the lease with the lease company as opposed to the normal Skoda order/build process to delivery time.
  15. Sounds like it hasn't got the rain sensing wipers either as I think they come as a package with the autodimming mirrors. Mine's the same so I might contact Skoda IRL and complain as it clearly listed in in the price and spec sheet otherwise I would have added them to my order. Wish I had gone for the heated seats as they'd come in handy this weather. The Amunsden sat nav is better than I thought it would be although I think the Navteq mapping in my Garmin is more accurate for Ireland, route calculation can be a bit weird aswell. The Gobi interior should look well with the black exterior. What VCDS mods are you planning?
  16. Wishing you good health to enjoy your new Yeti. Let us know if it came with auto dimming mirrors and rain sensing wipers.
  17. Looks very well I particularly like the "free" interior.
  18. "Noticed engine running at 103 degrees temperture - bit hotter than usual 97 degrees." I am not a technician so I'm probably way off the ball here but this is my third diesel Skoda and all of them have reached a max constant temp of 90 degrees. I never seen them stray beyond the 90 degree mark even in heavy traffic. Maybe it might be worth checking to see what temp other Yeti owners petrol engines normaly run at just to see if your's is running a bit hot. Again I'm probably way off the mark but worth a try.

Looks very nice, I see you've fitted the side steps.

    How do!

I took delivery of a Yeti Greenline Elegance a couple of weeks ago so I'm still running it in (1500km covered so far). The only real issue I have is an increase in road and tyre noise over my previous 2.0litre 110 diesel. Much of this appears to be the tyres, the engine also appears more vocal than the 2litre. The long legged gearing takes a bit of getting used to but is well suited to motorway driving and there is ample torque for overtaking etc. The stop/start system is good and involves no learning curve atall. As I've said I've only had it a number of weeks so some of the members who have had their's longer might be of more use to you. I also see that Auto Express have added a Greenline ii to its long term test fleet.
  21. +1 on Rosso Brunello (I'm on my second Yeti in that colour) scroll down through this link to see one: http://www.forum-auto.com/marques/skoda/sujet734-4235.htm
  22. Thats the life, owning a Yeti and living in Riva del Garda.
  23. I hadn't heard of Runrig before before so I went straight to youtube for a listen, next step will be a download must be the Celt in me. Normaly I have 2fm on the radio with a mixture of music on my SD card anything from Steve Perry to **** Robin (first part of the name was blanked out when I had a look over the post, the y're the band that had songs such as "when your heart is weak). I also have Meat Loaf, Fleetwood Mac,Adele and Katherine Jenkins. Once its not X Factor Karaoke I'll listen to it. Funny enough for someone from this side of the Irish Sea I'm not a massive U2 fan (I'll have to go into hiding now for saying that).
