05 Plate octavia vrs 60k, on starting up first time last Sat drove to local shop on way to work about 1 mile journey. On returning to car it turned over but would not fire three times this happened, after a 1 minute wait it started first time? I did not have my foot on accelerator at time. Car has not given a repeat performance so far! Anyone out there had similiar or have any ideas? Cheers

Hi guy's a quick update for those that helped me few weeks back. my mk 1 was running rough and flatspotting at high rev's. After diagnostic check found to be faulty camshaft pulley TDC sensor, all fixed under warranty and now running sweet as .

Just puchased set for my mk 1 vrs from Freeborn Skoda here in Southampton with no problem.

Went back to dealer who looked back throgh parts used and it seems that a cambelt kit was used and therefore did have tensioners, however the pulley in question in the service book related to a hydraulic tensioner which apparently it did not require. More alarminly though was that the water pump was not changed due to fact the bearings were fine on checking when belt was off!!

Hi when purchasing my 05 vrs got main dealer to put new cam belt on as car was on 60k. Perhaps i should have looked more carefully on collection but on looking at the service book found a worry. They had'nt ticked for a new tension pulley. I called back and was told that it did not require one? Is this correct would anyone know? Now has me doubting if they have replaced the water pump as i requested, again could i get a heads up on checking for this. Thanks

Hi guy's was wondering if i could get some advise on my car. I have just purchased a mk 1 octavia vrs on an 05 plate form a main dealer, it has 60k and fsh. After going for a blast at the weekend I have noticed that she seems to flat spot in 2nd and 3rd gear at around 5300 revs. Best way for me to describe this is that it just seems to hit a wall in terms of power bit like driving a tdi! also when it hit,s this the car seems to kangaroo. Is this rev limit around peak performance considering that the car is standard? Should i just be changing up earlier? believe me I wont be making a habit of over revving it. Or should I pop it back to dealer as it's under warranty? Thanks look forward to your advise.

Hi guy's new to this fantastic site. I have just purchased a 05 plate mk1 octy vrs from a local main dealer she has 60k with full history. Anyway after going for a thrashing this weekend i have noticed that it flat spots in second and third gear at 5200 rev's best way to describe this is like hard acceleration in diesel it just seems to hit a wall. Car still got years warranty but just wondered if any one had any comments such as this is normal and change gear earlier!!
