  1. I know it's mingin, but I couldn't be ar$ed if I'm honest....... besides they'll only get dirty again!
  2. Here we go.... Removing the old disc was a piece of pi$$, whip the bolts out (2x 13mm bolts and 2x allan bolts not sure of their size..) holding the calliper and slider arm, and then removed the grub screw holding the disc to the hub. First problem.... the disc was fouling the backing plate, so a simple fix was to prise it back using a couple of pieces of wood, crude but effective! Now the disc was on I turned my attention to the calliper bracket. Due to the casting on the calliper (slider) I had to grind a few mm off to allow a flush fit (see pics 4 & 5), this took seconds. Then it was a simple case of mounting the bracket to the stub axle and then the slider to that. It was a little tight but it went on nicely! Then it was just a case of attaching the calliper along with a new set of Ferodo pads. To allow the calliper and brake hose to reach I had to release the hand brake cable support strap and feed the cable down a couple of inches, then job done! Hope you like the pictures! I will take some more once I've cleaned the car, it's plastered in road grime, salt and cow $hit at present..... Steve
  3. Standard springs/dampers with a rear anti roll bar & poly bushes are a really good compromise between comfort and handling. I ran mine for years like this before I fitted my coilovers. Steve
  4. No problem for the link!! Yes, it has been described as that a few times!! Steve
  5. Take a look here, this is the complete front end package, discs, pads, callipers and carriers though. Steve
  6. AP Racing 360mm two piece vented/grooved discs and re-use my existing AP 6 pots. Yeah, just bigger diameter discs and a stand off bracket. Click HERE for prices. I did consider the twin calliper version that Compbrake do, but couldn't justify the prices! These are well tidy though!! Steve
  7. Courtesy of Sarah @ Awesome GTi I had these land on my doorstep.... 330mm vented/grooved discs with modified brackets to mount the OEM calliper further out. As I am upgrading my fronts to 360mm I thought the backs looked too small in comparison especially with the bigger wheels on, so these will do nicely. A full fitment guide will be put up when they're done (wkend I reckon). Hope you like the pics. Steve
  8. For how much extra it would cost you go for the 312mm fronts with some good pads Ferodo as stated earlier are a favourite. Brakes on a car can never be too good in my opinion! Steve
  9. Check the header tank, the sensor in that goes after a while, also if the coolant level is low it can cause it to react like your describing. Steve
  10. Thank you!!!! Should look even better with the bigger discs... Steve
  11. FU*K IN HELL!!!!!!!!!! Thatis a step up from its original 875cc then..... Respect!! Steve
  12. Cheers Des!! Sorry to go off track, Did I hear right you have a Hillman Imp.....?
  13. Nice torque, it makes such a difference!!! Enjoy!!!!
  14. How many people would be interested in a WRC style pod able to house 3 possibly 4 big spots covering the front bonnet grille? Someone I know is a fibreglass fabricator and I am thinking of getting him to make one up for mine..... If the demand is there they could be done quite cheap. Your thoughts please. Steve
  15. Neither was I until I saw these....plus it'll save me having to clean them all the time!!! Steve
  16. I thought that might be the case..... Wheels are 8"x18", so anything upto a 245 section would fit the rim but as you say the issue is the clearance...... I'll stick with 225's then!! Thanks everyone for such a prompt responce!! Steve
  17. Colin, sorry if I am being dumb, but can we have a 'Members gallery' please.....

    Thanks,

    Steve

  18. Having just aquired a set of 18" Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's (Thanks TSP!!!!) I'm just wondering how wide a tyre I could fit, I currently have 4 excellent 225/40 zr18 tyres, just wondering whether 235/40 zr18's would fit? Has anyone else done this?? Your thought and opinions please people. Cheers, Steve
  19. I used 225/45 zr17's for years on mine. The wheel is 7"x17", you couldn't go any bigger though. Steve
  20. Is it a genuine one? Aftermarket ones can be very unreliable on the 1.8t's.
  21. Good point WIll ask Brian/Michael @ Jabba when I contact them next. Should I go for 19" with 395mm's?!
  22. I like the look, its really grown on me over the last week or so. I'm looking for a WRC spotlight pod, but if I cant find one I might sling some on mine too! You could fit 3 or possibly 4 that size...... Steve
  23. Rears have been ordered courtesy of Sarah @ Awesome!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! Will sort fronts when I have a little more time on my hands. Will start a new thread for the rears once I get them. CANT WAIT!!!!!!! Steve
