  1. Business insurance didn't add that much to be honest - i did find out they added £200 for non fault accidents i had in my old company car even though the other party was at fault and they both paid out without a problem (rear ended twice) The reason i was told for the higher premium was " the insurance company still had to chase for the money in the claims" mmmm...... so i'm a carefull driver but still get screwed for muppets thats can't judge a braking distance - makes me wonder why i bother to get insurance. I originally set up the insurance through "more than" at £600 but they insured the car by saying on the details that my company owned it. They then said they will rewrite the cover and honour the price. Telephone call later saying no we cant do it and would have to be requoted - £900:eek::eek:. Sod off another requote inhouse and it went to £1100 at which point i put the phone down and went back on line as i needed cover quickly as i was picking the car up the next day and using it for work. hence the £1100.
  2. Ok, I think i'm paying to high for my insurance. Currently its £1100 for fully comp on a 2008 octavia vrs tdi pd. Age 35, I have 3 years no claims(proof) and use it for business and pleasure - i'm covered for around 24,000 business miles a year. Named drivers are myself and the misses both with no points or at fault accidents. I had a quote for a remap and was quoted £2200 - i'm more interested in the fuel economy than performance. Am i being shafted? I had a calibra redtop (150 bhp), saab 9-3 convertible (150bhp) and they were a lot cheaper to insure than the vrs and i was younger with no insurance history to my name as i've had company cars before. The postcode hasn't changed and i drive like miss daisy FFS:mad:
  3. Coventry, Birmingham (m6 m42) has the marked and unmarked VRS as well as the normal focus st, volvo's bmw's and the golf vr32 in dark blue  quite a shock when he gave me a blue flash:D
  4. I've read many posts on here for car kits and i need a kit that will work with 2 phones(1x work 1 x mine) I looked at the bury cc9060 but that only supports 1 phone at any 1 time but will hold up to 10 and can be removed. The parrot will allow 2 phones at once but from my understanding its always on display. Problem is i dont want anything on display in my car as i drive for a living and i've been the victim before with nothing on display so i dont want to temp the local scum with anything. Any ideas - oh and dont want to go down the oem bluetooth road from ebay. Cheers
  5. I would have had a petrol over the diesel but with the mileage i do and what i'll get back from my company per mile i'd need a second income to run the car. I did average 19 mpg on a saab 9-3 petrol a few years ago and i didn't drive like a looney either
  6. Sorry to all petrol owners who mistakenly thought I could get 47+ out of a gallon of unleaded - Just delete my post as I didn't know it was a closed forum for petrol owners only. I was only saying what I was getting out of my car but again sorry for any confusion.
  7. I have a belltronics 550 euro and that works perfectly in the city with supermarket doors etc. I have different settings for motorway etc to stop false alarms. Its a little old now but when i upgrade i'll go belltronics again because i know they work. Yes you havent got a chance with the man in a van when your locked on its to late but gatso's and the like  it just pizzes me off when a driver in front slows for a dead gatso thinking its live and wont move over and the people that flash to warn me of a gatso when i go past at warp speed:D
  8. I'm hitting about 47-49 mpg doing motorway and town driving with the car showing 7k on the clock. Best i've had so far from a full tank was 540 miles. I'm hopeing it will get even better as i do about 25-35thousand a year.
  9. Got a phone call today and yippe there refunding all £150:D:D They have admitted it wasn't my fault
  10. mmmmm....... advert recently said £10k off a brand new 9-3 1.8t convertable:eek: or 6-8k off a standard 9-3. I'd be gutted if i had a SAAB now because my resale value would be giving me a heart attack:mad: I thought it was bad when i had a 9-3 convertible and i had to sell it, the money i lost was shocking.
  11. Well i ditched my 07 plate ford focus tdci for the octavia vrs tdi reasons: bigger boot on octavia better quality on octavia very poor ford service poor value for money on the ford poor reliabilty on the ford I've had to endure a ford focus since 2000 in many forms and the price has gone up but the quailty, reliabilty and dealerships have gone down. I hope you have better dealings with the dealership network than me and better realiabilty than i did. My cars have all been leased so it was a "no problem fix it what ever the price" but i still got poor service from my 5 local ford dealers.
  12. You have to own a white car sometime in your life and its a little stonker oh and i love the little ducky in the side compartment:D
  13. Hit the nail on the head (sorry for the pun) - when you get the car it displays the hanging paper cutout on the rear view mirror to say this vehicle had been quality checked for body damage, interior damage and tyre damage:rolleyes: Well if i go to court to dispute this bacause i'm not accepting i done it, then i'm pretty sure as i had to make them ammend the additional documentation ref the body damage (which was easily visable i.e. red scuff marks on a silver bumper) that they can't prove that they checked the tyres for damage as they failed to spot the damage to the bodywork. It's harder to spot a screw in the tread of a tyre thats possibly out of view of the human eye. I'm the person who if i damage something i'll pay for it no questions asked but i'll be damned if i'm paying for something i haven't done!
  14. Had a hire car (see breakdown thread in octavia 2) and i've just checked my bank account and hey i've been charged £150 for a damaged tyre:mad: Story is:- picked the car up on sunday morning from National hire company at birmingham airport, inspected the car and noticed damage to the car bodywork and had the paperwork altered to show the damage before driving away. Drove 2 miles to my girlfriends house and at 4 0'clock i went to go out and the rear tyre was flat. Tried calling the hire company at the airport but gave up after 3 attempts and so i e-mailed the company to inform them of the damage to the tyre. The tyre had a large screw in it that had been there before as it had worn some of the head down on the screw. Left the hire car at the dealers after telephoning the hire company to say i was leaving it their and about what had happened to the tyre. I received a call from National on Wednesday asking why i had still got the hire car:mad: National hire car had lost the car for 24 hours and only asked me when they realised they didn't have a car! Now after calling the retards there looking into it. Please downt reply with you should have checked the tyres before driving off as i'm not going down on my hands and knees looking for hidden screws in the tyres when i've already checked the bodywork! One really hacked off driver with a £150 charge for a crappy mondeo tyre:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
  15. Well i got the car back today at 10am:D They replaced a bracket that had snapped and replaced it with a modified part. The part was something that just lets you move the gear stick into position. Its strange to have a dealership phone me at 7pm and say the car will be ready for collection in the morning. All in all a very happy experience of my first if early visit to the dealer - Dealer was central skoda in birmingham
  16. Well i've had my vrs for 20 days covered 1k on a 4k car and the gearbox has gave up. I've lost 1st and 2nd gear and 5th & 6th:eek:. Called on skoda assistance and i had the volkswagon assitance out and then towed off to the dealers. Skoda phoned me back to say i would have a hire car (like for like) and offered to send me a taxi to pick the car up as it was to late for delivery on saturday:) I've now got a 2l mondeo:( untill mines fixed but the service from skoda was outstanding - credit where credit's due:thumbup: Regarding the car i'll report back when its fixed but these things happen.
  17. I brought my vrs tdi 08 registered 57 plate with 3k on the clock, jumbo pack etc, in silver for £12400 from a dealer in london- 2 years warranty and breakdown left as well:) I would have hagled for a discount but i had problems getting finance from the banks for £12k so i just accepted the price with vw finance arranged. Don't regret it for a bit as i gave my company car an 07 plate focus estate back with such hapiness and joy:D
  18. I picked my 57 plate up on the 31/1/08 and i'm now paying £1100 fuly comp, 3 years no claims and business use for 25,000 miles:mad: I had the insurance all sorted out before picking the car up with "more than" at £550 but then i discovered THEY had made the mistake but they said they would still honour it. A telephone call back and they said they couldn't do it and would need requoting. £950:eek: and then another department within "more than" £1200:mad: at that point i put the phone down. I settled on admrial as i'd had them before and was desperate as i had just arranged to give my company car back a day after picking up my car.
