  1. Bloody hell, that's not good! Makes me slightly more happy about having replaced all of my rear lower wishbones last year, they were 10 years old and done 200K mile but weren't worryingly rusty at all. They were only changed as the camber adjusters were all seized up.
  2. Good man, thanks very much. Was thinking about going down the walnut blasting route but iI just cant quite bring myself to go for it, im gifted at making a mess! :-) Just ordered 3 cans of it from Ebay, was only £8 something for X3 400ml cans so more than enough!
  3. Thanks for an interesting write up, a job for me too next year once it warms up a bit! Out of interest, what method did you use for cleaning the valves (And any chemicals used) Thanks Dan
  4. Many years ago now I had a more of a light donk than a rattle from the back of mine, couldn't find anything with any notable wear in, but took a punt on the anti roll bar drop links which had the smallest amount of wear and that seemed to do the trick.
  5. Cam cover will forever be a rocker box in my eyes 😂😂
  6. That's my plan aswell, all one big hit... Manifold change Inlet valve clean Reseal rocker box.
  7. Agreed, always like to try and use the genuine parts or find the actualy OEM of the genuine part and order that.
  8. Excellent, mines an 09 plate but with a 2012 engine, so sounds like mine won’t fall foul of needing the upgrade fuel rail. If you don’t mind me asking, how much did the kit come to in good old fashioned pounds Sterling with the import duties etc ?
  9. Thanks for that, what year is your car? juat trying to ascertain whether the revised fuel rail is needed?
  10. I did spot that site... was a bit concerned about the note about possibly needing a new fuel rail... they aren’t cheap! Thanks Dan
  11. Evening all, Looks like a new inlet manifold is required on my Octy 2 VRS (CCZA Engine code), have the P2015 error code suggesting an issue with the intake runners. Engine has done over 100K now so not done too bad I suppose. (Rest of car on 193K, new engine fitted due to tensioner failure) From a bit of research it seems the latest part from the VW group is PN 06J133201BH, but I can't seem to locate any Skoda documentation that confirms this will definitely fit my car, the Skoda parts catalogue I found online doesn't recognise this part. Im guessing as its not an official Skoda parts catalogue that it just hasn't been updated with the latest offering from VW. Just wondered whether anyone had fitted PN 06J133201BH to there CCZA engine? Thanks Dan
  12. Yeah exactly, not to say I didn’t hate it at the time the tensioner failed 😕 When it works it’s a fantastic engine!
  13. Ha ha, not really anymore, drive it like miss daisy now, just managed 42MPG on a 250 mile trip back from Devon :-) To be fair to the car, other than general servicing it hasn't really asked for much..
  14. Currently at 192K, on second engine, 3rd PCV valve and just thrown an intake manifold code this week!
  15. Ok thanks, will go with it ain’t broke so don’t fix it for now, live with the annoying tick!
  16. Slight thread hijack here, but is the N80 purge valve not meant to tick then? Mine has for as long as I can remember, just presumed it was meant to! My TSI is generally a noisy engine, has been since it was installed new (post tensioner failure )
