  1. They do look loads better like. Guesing you got hold of the 4th Rim then . Bit of a shame it was cheaper for me to buy 4 replacemetn rims than to buy Solid to recomplete the set
  2. Im guessing you found a 4th Solid then I only just scrapped that 4th wheel a couple of weeks agao, was sick of looking at it. Got any pics with the wheels on?
  3. 550 Miles out of a 2.5! Best ive EVER had is 440 miles and that was changing gear at 2000 RPM and coasting a LOT. Although looking at the age of your car im guessing it has the reworked 2.5 - 163 BHP not the 155 ive got The way I look at it, it costs the same as a 1.8 Petrol Focus to fill up so im not too bothered, but now ive seen these figures im starting to wonder if there is something up with my car. Trip computer on my car rarerly says above 30 MPG on my 10 mile drive to work, but like I say, I have a lead foot Interesting note on the 2 stroke oil, may look into that
  4. 700 Miles a tank!, man I wish I bought a 1.9 Seem to be getting 360 -400 miles a tank out of my 2,5Tdi at the moment :S. My foot is laden with lead though
  5. Im sure someone on here sold a 2.5 tdi mapped to 210Bhp once. If you go 2.5 TDi, go for a post 2003 model, the changed the engine a bit and has slightly has few more bhp and lot more torque.
  6. Im still trying to break into my door , the rear window mechanism seems to be more of an arse than the front doors. Its just a couple of bolts holding the windows onto the window rail on the front, so its pretty easy to remove the door inards.I dont think its CCM related or even dry solder joint related, I think the mechanism has just failed. It almost sounds as if a cog has ground its teeth off and just doesnt haveenough contact to unlock the door when I try to unlock it. Ill let you know if I ever get it fixed. You need to have the door open to take the door apart properly, which kinds puts me in a tricky situation because im taking the door apart to get the door open
  7. Also if you do buy 2.5 and it needs the timing belt done, get a couple of qoutes first, you may be suprised how much it costs, IE a lot more than the 1.9 Cambelt interval is 4 years as said above, or every 80k miles AFAIK. Not sure if the price is good or not, they seem to vary so much. I paid 4.5k for my 2.5Tdi Comfort 20 months ago with 48K on the clock for comparison.
  8. The pulling the handle twice bit has happened to my rear passenger door. It makes a groaining noise when it trys to unlock but is now permantly deadlocked shut, I cant open it :S.... Started with the double pull of the handle.
  9. Would you be able to find out how they got your door open? I have the same problem on my back door now, was sat for 30 mninutes before trying to get it to unlock so I could disconnect the power to the lock but without any luck. I have removed the door card with the door shut and i will be able to remove metal inner skin with the window motor attached to it when I get a chance, im just curious as to how you actually managed to get the lock to open? Thanks Ian
  10. My insurance is about £580 fully comp with £350 excess. Got 3 points on my license and im 27. Its a 2.5 TDi Comfort and ive got 8 years NCD. Just renewed it this month, and yes this was the cheapest price. I renewed for 3rd time with swiftcover because by the time I factored in legal cover and PCD that some other sites ommit on their quotes it was the same price anyway. I got a qoute from Adrian Flux hoping to get some kind of good price for being a freedom meber on here.... £960 best price, err no thanks. Interestingly when I looked at qoutes with out stating I had any points on my license (out of interest) it was £100 cheaper. It was going to cost even more if I DIDNT add my wife as a named driver. Also postcode plays a big factor. My Insurance went up £100 when I moved house. I must live in a bad postcode area now Sooo, your all lucky barstuards having such cheap insurance
  11. Thats good news supurbia. I find a similair thing with different brands of diesel as well funnely enough. Anything other than BP makes the engine sounds tappety, strange but true.
  12. Do your doors deadlock properly when you lock the car? I disconnected the wiring to one of my doors to try and fix a problem and this stopped them deadlocking and in turn flashing the indicators. It sounds like it locks it self twice if it is deadlocking.
  13. That is a lot more torque! Ive been trying to find a website I was on a while back, im sure it said the 155 could be remapped to 190 ish BHP where as the 163 could only remap to 180-185 ish, not sure if this is true.
  14. 2.5 Tdi has one advantage then, doesnt need "fancy" oil , and mine doesnt apear to burn any oil thankfully. Didnt top it up once between last 10k miles oil change.
  15. Oh dear, I have some of those in my CD changer at the moment They must definatly be cool.
  16. Kumhos seem decent in the rain, inspire a lot more confidence than some wanlies I had a while ago.
  17. It is pretty stupid like TBH. Last 5 litre tub of 505.1 spec oil I bought at TPS was 16 quid for the Quantum stuff. The stuff I bought before that was £9! for 505.1 spec Quantum oil. I am sold this because im on "fixed" servicing though (Need the "good" stuff for long life). Its all crap, even the hand book that came with my supurb cant make up its mind what spec oil I should put in the 2.5TDi. Saying that im looking in TPS price guide book which came into effect 2nd August and the 505.1 spec oil is £31.28 for 5 litres! Hope they are not starting to take the mick as well for prices or im off to VX as well 506.1 and 507.1 are exactly the same price for 5 litres.
  18. Think im with you on the ditching VAG front. Although I love my Supurb, its cost me 2K in maintenece alone in a little over 18months, and I service it myself! As much as I like the idea of "better quality :wonder: ", I think the likes of Ford will get my money next time. They are a piece of proverbial to work on and parts are cheap and there is none of this timing belt crap being replaced at 4 years.
  19. I had a look on elsawin for a schematic but there seems to be bugger all related to this engine in it :S
  20. Nice find there Guess I probably should of had a look about, just never noticed the topic discussed hereon Briskoda Interesting stuff really
  21. Kumho KU31's 225 45 R17 Cant believe how quiet they are! Got rid of my mish mash of Federal, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Dunlop. I bought them because of good reviews and quiet noise levels, but these are crazy quiet, although I have been used to the drone of the crappy Federal tyre. Admitedly I have only driven 10 miles in them so far. Car is a lot nicer to drive though (goes in a straight line now for a start). If they give decent mileage as well im a happy bunny
  22. When I tried thatthe speed was waaay out, although now you mention it display in KMH and MPH I may of had it in KMH :S But yes, speedo usually reads under
  23. Well to answer my own question, yes there are. Found a 2006 2.5 TDi on ebay and entered the reg, engine code is BDG Anyone know the difference apart from the extra 5bhp ?
  24. Never quite found out the answer to this question. Parkers seems to think there was 155BHP model produced from 2002 to July 2003 and a 160BHP model produced from July 2003 onwards. Im would assume I fall into the 155BHP category with my car being manufactured before July 2003. My engine code is AYM. Does anyone with a post July 2003 model have a different engine code? I found my code on euro car parts putting the reg number in
  25. Ive decided to play it safe and ordered 4 Kumho KU31's (means I keep my 17's as well). See if they are as good as people say they are Thanks for advice
