Silly question: what's the difference between 1ZO (Octavia?) and 3TO?

It looks like the MFD2 are now going for £250 - £350 on Ebay. So it's possible the MFD3 units will come below £500 - well let's hope so anyway!

I too saw this add and emailed asking questions about date of manufacture, h/w and s/w versions (there doesn't appear to be a map disc with this sale) but got no reply! From other listings it looks as though they are pushing the price up through "Buy it Now" with a high starting price - no wonder they are not selling and getting relisted. I'm holding off for the moment - good luck if you go for it.

I'd try drivethedeal and would be interested to hear if you can do better elsewhere.

I went for the 200bhp petrol Vrs estate because I do <10000 miles/yr. Conventional wisdom (the stealer I checked with) suggests that 10000 is the lowest milage before one should even consider a diesel. I too went via drivethedeal and got a very satisfactory 18% off the list price plus 0% finance. It does seem strange though that one can't order the same options for the Vrs as the Elegance - in my case I wanted electric folding mirrors - but was told it's a different wiring loom for the Vrs, which limits the options available.

Further "progress" on post #2. 10 August Wonders will never cease - Palmers called today! Since the photographs taken by the body shop do not show the car's VIN, Skoda now need further evidence that the tailgate glass is original. Etched VIN provided – original. Again a conversation with David, the service reception manager about whether this is a known problem, mention the forum and other similar cases cited, this is dismissed as irrelevant. The conversation then takes a different tone with the Srm threatening to drop Palmer's involvement and saying I'll have to find another dealership if I want to pursue the matter - we'll see what happens! This is turning into another Customer Service case study.

Update on #2 and #18. 11June Phoned Palmers, in the absence of any contact from them, to be told they have arranged for me to go to Robsons Coachworks in St Albans. Duly drove there to have a brief inspection, more photos and a paint depth test (to check whether the tailgate had been resprayed). Very helpful, no problems - so Robsons will report back to Palmers. We wait to hear. 2 July Phoned Palmers (again) - no word from Skoda. 15 July Ditto 23 July Phoned Palmers (again) to chase progress. Apparently Skoda is not prepared to accept the warranty claim as the service history is not complete (probably my fault as I thought it was variable servicing, but how this affects body work problems is difficult to understand). Palmer's Service reception manager dismisses forum reports as evidence of tail gate rust being a known issue. However Palmers have asked Skoda to think again, apparently. We wait to hear.

I am considering a new Octy vRS and would like electric folding wing mirrors - limited parking space. It appears they are not available as an option on the vRS although they are on the Elegance! Can anyone explain why this option is model limited? Is there any way around this limitation? Are there any aftermarket options available at reasonable cost? Many thanks.

Progress of post #2: contacted Palmers today (can't they make outgoing calls?) to find that Skoda have asked for a "paint thickness test" to establish whether its an accident repair problem (it isn't, but at least Skoda haven't rejected the claim out of hand). Unfortunately Palmers don't have their own paintshop and the one they use isn't VAG accredited (apparently a VAG accredited one must be used), so they suggested a Skoda franchise elsewhere with its own paint shop - MK, Oxford or London were the nearest I could try! This sounded like a load of tosh so, pushing back, I suggested that as the local franchisee they should take responsibility for sorting out the test. Palmers are now seeking further guidance from Skoda. I was hoping to get a facelift vRS when they are available but this sort of attitude makes one question the dealer and Skoda - we'll see what happens.

I suspect I may be in a similar position with my '03 Vrs estate (from new). I reported the same problem to Palmers Watford on 18th May, after reading a thread here on Corrosion Warranty. They took photos and said it looked like it had been present for some time but they would contact Skoda and let me know - I'm still waiting! The dealers seem to be making subjective points which must be contestable - especially since it's not a unique problem. I should push for another view as you've only recently had the car. If we need to build a case to shame Skoda into action (class action!) could everyone who's had a problem with tailgate rust let us know (model, year, response from Dealer/Skoda and the eventual outcome) on this thread please.

My 03 Vrs Estate is showing signs of rust (paintwork bubbling) on the tailgate on the rim/recess immediately below the rear window - no external impact. Is this covered by warranty and, if so, how can it be progressed when the original dealer is no longer an official Skoda franchise?

I've been a Skoda owner for nearly six years (Oct vrs estate). Great car - goes well and carries a load. I'm looking to replace it soon, so I'm here to learn. Not sure about the LE, so will probably wait and see what the face lift version does.
