  1. Well that sucks. My own fault I guess for not specifying exactly what I wanted - having simply asked the dealer to fit a detachable towbar as part of 'the deal', (I was spoiled by my old MkII 4x4 having a detachable Westfalia with 'towbar prep'). Wonder what they'll say next week. .....caveat emptor
  2. Assuming that to be the case, would such a setup prevent any of the functions listed previously from being enabled by the dealer setting the appropriate codes?
  3. Mk III Scout (FL) with after market fitted Witter detachable towbar. (Fitting/wiring done by dealer's choice of 3rd party company - Skoda 'towbar preparation' factory wiring was not fitted). First time today with Thule towball mounted bike carrier, with 7pin to 13pin Thule adapter, (Scout 7pin/carrier 13pin), only to discover that none of the expected towing related functions are active... * Rear parking sensors disabled and screen/display instead shows trailer/caravan to rear of vehicle when reverse gear selected. * Car alarm does not activate when car is locked and the bike carrier's plug is removed from car socket. * Eco Driving Mode disabled Instead, when reverse is selected the rear parking sensors go ballistic, unsurprisingly, with red bars appearing on the screen directly behind the car. When the car is locked the alarm doesn't activate when the carrier is unplugged. (All bulbs on the bike carrier's light bar function normally however). Having spoken to the dealer, ( who I'll not name), they suggested that coding isn't the issue and are veering towards sending me to the 3rd party fitter. So as not to be shunted from pillar to post when I take it to the dealer next week, any suggestions as to possible causes and solutions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks... Have bought some rubber mudflaps for £10 off eBay that fit the A6 Allroad. They look like they may be a better fit for the Scout and if so, I might go all out and stump up for the OEM Audi ones.
  5. Thanks John. I've gone for Plan B... Got some cheap mudflaps off eBay for £10 that claim to fit the Audi A6 Allroad. The curvature looked a closer match to the Scout, so if they're any good I'll either fit them and live with them, or if they're cheap n nasty, (but fit), I may stretch to buying the OEM Audi parts. Will keep you posted.
  6. Hi John

Disregard - saw your earlier posts.

    Cheers

  7. Hi John

    Quick Question...

    Is your Scout a FL?

    Cheers

  8. "Octavia (5E) as of CW/ od KT/ ab KW 22/ 2017" (5E0.075.101.A) Octy III FL mudflaps do not fit - wrong shape (too angular) for Octy III FL Scout. Will standard Octy III mudflaps fit a FL Scout, (with just the relocation of holes for the torx screws), or is it standard Octy II mudflaps which are easiest to adapt to a FL Octy III Scout? Mods - posted this in similar thread. Can threads be merged?

  10. Slightly off topic, but the Michelin Cross Climates are on my Fabia and I'm so impressed that come October they'll be going on my Scout, (Promptly followed by 4 wheel Lazer geometry), and then winter can do its worst.
  11. Damn..... We had this in our MkII 4x4 and had it in twice to try to fix it! (Springs replaced - didn't resolve). I'll cry if it happens on the MkIII...
  12. If it makes you all feel better, ours has just started playing up. The sound is poor to the point it is nearly unusable. The caller sounds as though they have their head in a bucket, and this applies at both ends of the call. The phones used are iPhone SE, 7+ and Nokia 6 (Android) and all suffer the same issue. I've tried to solve the issue by making the Nokia and the car forget each other then reconnect on Bluetooth but no change. Calls were clear as a bell only a few days ago, so not sure if something has come loose. Has their been a software update by Skoda of late?
  13. Cool. This'll make you laugh... I printed off pg.4 of your thread, where you described/photograph the process of fitting the VBF, and left it lying in the boot when the car went in to get it fitted. The guy who did the job asked if I'd left it. When I 'fessed up, he said it was "really useful" to have - so thanks from him (and from me!).
  14. The offending hole(s) (Both sides) Have tried Googling images but can't find an equivalent set up anywhere...
  15. That sounds feasible, given the holes are cut right through the side panel, exposing the steel body of the car behind - they're not simply a recessed part of the panel with a couple of holes for fixing bolts, (as is the case elsewhere), which is why I was curious as to what will eventually fill the holes. For the time being I've covered them over with the hook part of some Velcro I had lying around so nothing loose can disappear, forever...
  16. My dealer has retro-fitted a VBF into our Scout, (it was requested/included as an extra in the sale price), but they are waiting for "luggage hooks" to arrive, as they didn't come with the other parts. For the time being, I'm left with a hole in each side panel where these hooks are supposed to fit. I've looked at the pics on page 4 of Sasha's thread and there are no hooks in the same position on her DIY VBF retro-fit, so I'm left wondering if the Scout has a slightly different VBF. Has anyone got a FL Scout with a VBF? If so, would you mind posting some pics of the boot side panels? (I'm intrigued to know what it is that the dealer is waiting on). Cheers
  17. Same... 144k, FSH, good on the whole with just wear'n'tear items, (shockers, springs, pads, disks), being the usual issues. (EGR valve replacement at 80k was the only 'nasty'). However, age was against it, (7+), and you don't want to get to the 'dripping roast' stage; so part-ex'd and off to the dealer's preferred auctioneer.
  18. Just realised I was reading it using 'simple view' on my phone. Can see the tyre models on normal view. Cheers.
  19. Unless I missed it, the link only gave manufacturer and not model of tyre. Aside from cost, what I also consider is whether the 3PMSF and M+S markings are present, as not every all season tyre has them. I've only experience of Pirelli Cinturato All Season, Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen 2 and Vredestein Quatrac Lite, so I'll be happy to bear in mind your suggestion come the time.
  20. I recon it'll be a toss up between Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons or Michelin CrossClimate come October, but £ will likely be the decider.
  21. Glad I opted for 2WD+All Season over 4WD+Summers, otherwise tonight's drive home might have turned out to be 'interesting'... the Merc driver trying to get up the hill a few miles further on was certainly having an 'interesting' time of it Now, where's me gone...
