  1. I got it out ok using fish tank air hose and a large syringe, the original tube I was using was too thick, the car is definitely quieter now with the fresh oil.
  2. Does anybody know if the soundproofing jacket for the 1.9tdi, which is available from Seat dealers will fit the 2.0? Cheers.
  3. It was the custom made piece that wraps around the engine block of the 1.9, they are a Seat part but obviously fit the Skoda part no. 0381039544, I don’t want to waste my money and find it doesn’t fit, I guess a Seat dealer may be the one to ask. Cheers for the replies.
  4. I have a 2.0 tdi Octavia, does anybody know if the engine sound proofing that is available for the 1.9 motor will fit the 2.0? Or if Seat or anybody else make one custom made for the 2.0, I had one on my Fabia vrs before it was pinched. Cheers.
  5. Anybody have any tips on getting condensation out of my tail light lens, is it a common problem? I don’t want to leave it too long as the bulb holders etc will soon start to corrode, is it a big job getting it off, I could always bring it in the house and stick it on a radiator for an hour. Cheers.
  6. I just need to remove half a litre as it’s a bit high on the dipstick, (not dangerously so I don't think) but it needs doing and getting underneath and removing the tray etc again has no appeal in this weather. And my ribs hurt as I fell of my push bike this morning. What am I like.
  7. Is there any way of getting a bit of oil out of a tdi engine without getting underneath again and removing all the undertray etc? is there anywhere from the top, I have tried with a tube down the dipstick but no good, cheers
  8. All done, the oil filter was too long so I had to re-use the old one.
  9. Not the bargain of the century really, I used to pay about 130 each service for a car with the same engine, and it defiantly won’t need spark plugs. Prices may have risen in last couple of years and its peace of mind if the price is guaranteed I suppose.
  10. Spot on cheers, I have got a Champion oil filter from Halfords which is for the 1.9, hopefully it will fit my 2.0 ok, anyone know how many litres of oil the 2.0 takes.
  11. Cheers for the replies, I take it the filter isn’t the screw on cartridge type.
  12. Does anybody have the exact oil type for a 2.0 tdi Octy 6sp I have some 505-01 5/40 fully synthetic which states its for PD engines but not sure if this is ok as the all seem to use different oil! Bring back the good old days,.. Also is it a big job? I.e. is there an engine cover that needs to come off first or anything else in the way of the sump before I crawl under, on my cold garage floor. Thanks chaps.
  13. Mine does the same, clutch judder the first few times I pull away in the morning, my old 1.9 never did it and I am sure its not normal behaviour, getting it fixed is difficult as its gone by the time I get to the dealer.
  14. Mine is juddering a lot for the first 4 or 5 stop starts in the morning and it seems worse now its colder, I would get it replaced under warranty but by the time I get to the dealer it is ok and when he test drove the car he said it is within tolerance still but then next morning its doing it again. It seems worse on wet mornings.
  15. Cheers for those replies, anybody know what causes the juddering the first few times I pull away after the car has been left for a while, I heard about the dmf problems but this wouldn’t get worse on wet mornings and would be there all the time.
  16. Hi chaps, I recently bought an 08 2.0 tdi to replace my Fabia vRS that I had pinched off my drive a couple of month ago, I have a couple of reservations about my purchase- the engine is very noisy even for a diesel (this is my 3rd derv car) from cold it is much louder than my old 1.9 and even when warmed up in a high gear it still clatters, where my 1.9 would go virtually silent when cruising, I expected the 2.0 to be more refined than the old engine, have I just bought a noisy one? It has 21k on the clock and the mileage is genuine. One more thing is I get a juddering when pulling away for the first few times, it seems to come from the clutch. I was told by my dealer it would be back brakes sticking on but even when parking without the hand brake it’s the same, it seems worse on wet mornings for some reason. Any advice would be appreciated.
  17. Just a daft one- I have just bought a 55 plate octy 2.0tdi to replace my stolen Fabia and the car is in great condition except the gear knob has the silver coming off probably caused by somebody with a ring on scratching it, is the knob easy to remove? Is it screwed on or glued, I am might find a good 6 speed one on ebay unless anybody has one for sale. Cheers chaps.
  18. Cheers for the replies chaps, my local dealer have none in and he says good Fabia vRS’s are thin on the ground at the moment as people are keeping them now they have heard the new Vrs is going to be 1.4 petrol! A work mate has a nice one owner low mileage silver, one I am going to try to convince him he needs a change.
  19. Jesus you guys are pessimistic, I have already told Privilege everything about the car being on the drive and the sp30 and they were fine, You should tell your insurance as soon as you get any points, I always divulge everything on renewal but I didn’t realise I was supposed to do it straight away, the guy said people very rarely do.
  20. I live is just outside Yarm near Stockton, the cops said it passed a camera on the way to Bradford in the early morning but nothing has been seen of it since, I always take mine and the wife’s keys and put them at the top of the stairs on the way to bed as I know somebody who had their keys fished out of the letterbox, so they had been up the stairs. They took both sets of keys as the wife has a 09 1.2 fabia but chucked hers away, the neighbour found them in her garden, they clearly wanted mine! It’s Silver NX06YTR if anybody sees it. Privilege insurance have been good as I told them it was garaged when it was on the drive due to my garage being full of furniture at the moment and I hadn’t told them about an sp30 I got a month ago and they are still sorting the claim ok.
  21. Got my Fabia stolen early last Monday morning from my drive, the lowlife broke in to my house and pinched the keys while me and the wife were asleep, also took my wallet the wife’s purse and my phone but they were after the car. Insurance have agreed on the phone to £7350 but I have 350 excess! The cops said the Fabia vRS is being targeted at the moment; they were prepared to break in to my house and risk a bloodbath if they woke me up (I have a knife in the bedside draw) just for a small Skoda so make sure yours are secure each night.
  22. I have just found out using google:thumbup: it is £40 for a full size steel wheel, if you hand back the gunk and compressor, I think that will be a no-brainer.
  23. I have just taken delivery of the new Fabia 1 for the wife and I am pleased with the lack of squeaks and rattles and the overall build seems very good, I am surprised to find no spare wheel, is this a new thing as I remember reading reviews saying they had a full size steel wheel, also has anybody bought a wheel to use as the spare and how much? Thanks chaps.
