Having never had a new car before, I've never had to bother with this stuff before, but, if I have a warranty issue etc can I use ANY dealer or just the one I bought the car from? I ask, because my nearest dealer is only 5 minutes away, whereas the dealer I bought the car from (but much cheaper) is an hour away.

Insurance.....AAAARRRGHHHH!
NikNak replied to slicendice's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The best quote I've had so far is from Skoda UK, which suprised me somewhat. For me (39), and my wife (40), New Scout in KT17 was 360 inc accident recovery, courtesy car & legal cover. -
I've had a box from these before, and been very happy with heir quality: http://www.roofbox.co.uk/roof-boxes/

I've just received a phonecall to say that I can collect my Scout from the dealers from 6th September onwards!

4 pages (double the VRS) and still no sticky! :wonder:

Late Delivery Compensation
NikNak replied to Eddie Deguello's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Interesting to know, as I've been waiting 20 weeks for my Scout. Looks like I'll be making a phone call on Monday Do you have the name of the woman you spoke to, and the number you rang teebee? -
Is it not possible to rub it down to the metal with Emery Paper? (assuming it's only painted or coated black)
-
Sweet. Cheers John.

Kind of. It sounds like you're happy with yours. If so, I'll look at getting theskodashop's guard and fit it myself.
-
Thanks for the replies guys. Does the genuine Skoda fit without any modification to the interior? and does it need removing if you drop the seats?
-
My Dealer has told me that to supply (and fit) a dog guard to my Scout is £165, which to me seems steep. The equivalent Travall guard seems to be £119. Having searched on Briskoda the Travall guards seem to be respected. Has anyone fitted a travall to their Octavia, or have an opinion on the official Skoda one?

Confused about which Brodit for my iPhone 4
NikNak replied to NikNak's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks for the headsup Michael (I was clearly being a numpty when looking for a cable), I've orderedthis one and the feedback seems to be good. -
I can share them with you if you wish? I just kept them for my ..."private" collection!

It's on it's way:

Confused about which Brodit for my iPhone 4
NikNak replied to NikNak's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Probably a reroute. It seems that hardly anyone seems to make an extender cable yet, after spending an hour Googling, there are a lot of people out there looking for the same thing. I was thinking that a "standard" Ipod dock extender would do the trick, but there don't seem to be many out there. Here's one of the only companies that seem to do it: http://cablejive.com/dock-extender-cable -

Thanks Michael. I didn't realise the cable was so short, I'll look into getting an extension. -
Confused about which Brodit for my iPhone 4

So that I can also use my Sat Nav occasionally. -
After searches I've managed to totally confuse myself as to which iPhone4 Brodit mount to buy, for my Scout with MDI cable; assuming the MDI passes through music and charges at the same time. I'm thinking this (with pass-through cable) one will work: http://www.mountonus.com/details.aspx?id=25701&preview=true But, I'm not sure what the difference is between that and this one: http://www.mountonus.com/details.aspx?id=25761&preview=true The Brodit 516164 says padded and The Brodit 516165 says Adjustable holder. Fits devices with skin (NOT for Apple iPhone original Bumper). So, the 516164 is fixed, and the 516165 is adjustable, meaning I won't have to remove it from it's case each time? WHAT is the "Original Bumper"? Anyone? :S

The Dealer told me it was waiting to ship and, knowing that they come through Emden, the Neckar Highway is the only ship due to come to the UK in the next few days. (I got the image from www.marinetraffic.com )
-
And here it is waiting to come home

I suspect it's the dealers being elusive about the actual time-scales the builds are taking. I ordered my Scout back in March, and am expecting it in 3 weeks time, but if I'd been told it would be 5 - 6 months back then (as opposed to the standard "12 - 14 weeks") I'd have walked straight out of the door!

waaaaaaaaaaaay too long!

Sent my Dealer an email today asking to confirm it's being built this week.
