Well where the paint has been scraped off, I'm seeing silver!
-
This morning as I drove into a parking space, I scraped my front spoiler on a double kerb, couldn't see it until I hit it!!! (Concealed by bushes) I've taken the paint off down to the metal, as I have already got a number of stone chips on the front bumper, (all one unit) I asked the dealer for an estimate to do the whole bumper, (repair & re paint) quoted £360 inc vat, it's at their VW body shop, & have been assured of a professional job, what do you reckon? I haven't booked it in yet, & was thinking off getting a few other quotes, Smart repair for today's scrape only, £150 plus vat.

Could we be the only ones I wonder?

Bad job at Hand car wash, prompted full polish!
DJD66 replied to DJD66's topic in Styling and Car Care
The problem I have is, the house taps have no lip to attach a hose, so I use a watering can, fine for regular washing, but when we get sand in the rain, I seek a jet wash, I tried a new to me, hand car wash, & it didn't pay off, but luckily the fine scratches in the clear coat, polished out. -
Wonder how many of us got the chrome while it was available?

Lesson learnt!!! -
Took car to hand car wash I'd not used before, got car home, noticed lots of fine lines in clear coat, had to polish entire motor!!! Also wash wheels as tyre dressing they painted on, went all over alloys on way home!!! My efforts turned car around, & now looks stunning again!!! Only took it to them to get Sahara sand blasted off, as I have no hose or pressure wash available, it won't be going back!!! Here's my results!!!

New screen was fitted on Wednesday, I had a 14 reg Roomster Scout for the day!!! Very Basic, a van with seats in!!!! Job went quite well, except, the specialist snapped plastic ticket holder, so they've ordered me another one, so it will have to go back for half an hour, when it comes in!!! I don't mind, I enjoy going to the dealership!!!

My windscreen came in today, & will be fitted next Wednesday!!! Car is performing awesomely!!!

All I can say is they've dealt with my wiper problems to my satisfaction, & I'm happy with the service I've received! Valet pics were shocking on iDENTITTi's car tho!!

Haven't seen this, not been on for a while.

How soft is the new paint?!
DJD66 replied to Mike999vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've picked up a few on the front bumper, all from trips on motorways, this was when car was only a few weeks old, I haven't got any for months now, fingers crossed it will stay that way!! -
Wiper arms have been changed, this has resolved the issue, a new windscreen has been ordered to replace scratched one! All under warranty!!

I'm very happy!!! Vindis Skoda Cambridge replaced my wiper arms, & I now have silent wipers! Bliss!!! They have also ordered me a new windscreen, & will call me when it's arrived, it's coming over from the factory, when they fit it, the wiper blades will also be changed, Happy!!!
-
No, they've not mentioned the screen as yet.

O/s wiper has now started scratching screen, so far the o/s pillar has been adjusted to stop it hitting the pillar, & it's had a new set of blades fitted, these helped but didn't 100% cure the problem of noisy wipers, then this weekend, I noticed scratches in the glass, I have just showed Vindis Skoda Cambridge, they were great, & have ordered me a new pair of wiper arms & blades, hopefully these will do the trick, I've suspected the o/s wiper arm from the start! It looks slightly crooked to me!!
-
You could be right, I've only got 2,750 miles on the clock, & since giving it a run yesterday, it seems to have settled back down. It had just done a week of short local runs, shops, work ect.
-
Interesting!!! Have so far threatened car with a swift kick up the exhaust if it doesn't behave!!!
-
Dealer has changed both wiper blades, & it hasn't cured the problem, there's some improvement, but they still make a noise in drizzle/light rain!!! I'm still loving the car, but also like a moan, as much as the next bloke, so that said.... Regen has run everyday this week!!! Very annoying, as work is just 2 miles, I arrive, switch engine off & fans start up, takes a few mins to cut off, I don't like to leave it until it's stopped!!! It happened again this morning after a 10 mile drive to the supermarket, but was fine when I got back home!!! Probably take it in Tues, but dealer will just tell me they do that!!!

Car survived the storm, took just 9 leaves off it!!! Car still awesome, done 2500 miles now since 31st May. O/S wiper still noisy unless rain is heavy, thinking of having blade changed, but it might be too much pressure from the spring under the arm, wiper no longer hits pillar since adjusted at dealership. That's my update, still very pleased with it!!!

I'll give it a try thanks!
