  1. A big thanks has to go to Border Cars, Glasgow Rd, Dumfries - they fixed my lovely Fabia vRS SE after MONTHS of being arsed about by the Skoda dealer in the same area (I've already left a 'review' on the dealer page, so no need to name and shame yet again!) I got my lovely vRS SE from David Kirkwood (lovely Skoda salaes manager bloke, used to be in charge of the aforementioned Skoda dealer) at Border Cars in October last year. It started to play up around January, so rather be safe than sorry got it booked into the Skoda dealer to be checked under warranty... After 3 attempts at the Skoda dealer to get them to believe my car had an intermittent high idling issue, and various things being done (1st time "keep an eye on it, it seems fine here", 2nd time "It seems ok but if it does it again we'll replace the EGR valve", 3rd time "we didn't need to replace the valve, just gave it a clean"), the car then went out of warranty, still with the fault... I remembered when I bought the car I had been given a 1 year warranty from Border Cars (standard on their 2nd hand cars it would seem!), so contacted David and asked his advice (was sick of trailing back and forth to other garage by this time)... I booked it in, they had it 2 days, diagnosed a faulty throttle pedal, ordered it in and replaced it all under warranty - no fuss or anything! For the first time in months, my car is back running properly, I can't thank them enough!!!
  2. Bruiser the Fabia vRS SE (Irn Bru to his chums!) Also had: Jimbo (Felicia) Cally (Fabia Comfort) Buzzbee (Fabia Sport) Work vans: Jean Pierre (Citroën c15) Rene (Renault Kangoo) Binky (Citroën Berlingo) Claude (Renault Kangoo)
  3. Hi! I took up running 3 years ago, and now cover anything up to marathon distance (tho a nice 50 miler on the cards next year!) If I can help I will, feel free to email / post!
  4. An update from my post from a few years ago above: John and Richard the sales lads are superb - friendly and helpful! Would defo still buy vehicles there without question! I've had 3 cars from here (4th Fabia came from Border Cars Dumfries as their wonderful ex sales manager David Kirkwood moved there, and also cos it was an SE I wanted and they had one!). Had no problems purchasing, and the servicing / aftersales was second to none on first 2 cars (Felicia GLi and Fabia Comfort)......then it all went a wee bit wrong on car 3, and horrendously on car 4! 3rd car (Mk1 Fabia Sport) had door seals re-done - one had to be re-done 3 times before it stopped leaking. I then had a warranty claim in for the spoiler fading (from bright yellow to dull)... 6 weeks of coming and going and excuses from the warranty guy. I had to go higher up to get an answer as to what was happening, then they put the wrong spoiler on it (vRS not Sport), without mentioning it to me... wouldn't have actually minded if they had told me, but nevermind... 4th car (present vehicle) Fabia vRS SE - took it in for a new aerial wiring under warranty - they damaged the dash getting radio out, then left radio sticking a good bit out on one side. They also ordered wrong coloured repeater indicator - or rather they said it had been ordered, then when I went to get it fitted (I live 35 miles away) they said 'oh oops this is the only one in stock'. I complained twice about high idling issues - first time I was told it didn't have a problem and if it came back it needed an EGR valve. Next time it was mentioned to them (3 weeks ago) the person on the service desk told me to get it booked in for the valve to be replaced, and when it went in, all they did was CLEAN the valve. The car has now gone out of warranty (last week) still with the fault, but I have 6 months left on extended warranty with Border Cars, so it is going there to be repaired, as I cannot face going back there. I had no apology for any of the above on the vRS and it left me very upset. To sum up - Sales: - spot on, first class service Richard and John are a credit to the dealership, Service: - as it stands presently, I wouldn't trust them to work on my wheelbarrow, which is a shame as it used to be a good garage all round!
  5. I know I saw that! Should be pretty cool! Tho if we go back I doubt I'll being having 'Just The One'! (Levellers joke... don't ask!)

  9. Lol if we get no joy at Tan Hill we could have a picnic - in the snow / rain / tornado / avalanche...........!!!!!!!!
  10. Unfortunately my other half MattyD won't be coming -it clashes with a family visit, so I'll just have to make enough noise for the both of us (not that I tend to talk a lot or anything hehehehehe!)!!!
  11. I know that - but try telling him hehehehehe!!! Ah well
  12. Hey Smogmonster - I'm bringing my other half - maybe in my vRS or in his and hers - if he gets his washed in time hehehehehe!!!
  13. Oh yes - I know a good few of those roads - remember kamikaze sheep at one section lol! And Tan Hill have a pet sheep which likes to barge people out of the road when you're in the bar - proves you aren't safe anywhere tee hee!!
  14. Very true - I've met a good few hehehehe!!!
  15. Thanks! - I like a good blast around like the next person, but I keep it legal lol - my boss makes Hitler look like a boy scout with anyone and points / speeding fines etc, comes from employing a good few nutters in white vans in the past I think tee hee!
  16. Sorry guys but if this meet is a 'tear arsing about' drive I might give this one a miss - not wanting to sound like a wimp or a wet blanket, but I stick to speed limits etc due to my job requiring I keep my license clean (lots of driving you see!), and if I'm gonna be up the back 10 miles behind everyone else, it would be a bit pointless lol! If not - I'll still be there!!!
  17. Yeah I can meet up at Rheged if required?!
