  1. Thanks I'll give that a go before going nuclear with a new part (€169)!
  2. John that's really helpful, many thanks
  3. Sorry should read it *would *show you how to replace the complete assembly part (understand the mechanism isn't serviceable - though there is a video somewhere by a guy with a yeti showing the cog in the mechanism sticks on its pin, or something like that)
  4. Thanks for the info , so it wouldn't show how to swap the lid /door out for a new one like this (I haven't double checked the part number for RHD, colour etc - but in principle?) https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5e1857121d9b9-dashboard-glove-box-lid-skoda-31129.html (assuming the new part works better!). The videos I have seen of glove box removal seem quite involved removing the CD Player / ICE box and all the plugs etc
  5. No not yet. My plan was to buy some time on Erwin and see if I could find the work shop manual but haven't had chance yet.
  6. OK glad that worked out I used the Hella part. Attached are the photos of replacement - the scuttle panel is split in half and lifts up pretty easily without taking the wipers off (on RHD anyway). The electrical connector just needed a bit of a tug and I got there in the end removing the clip. Pics attached.
  7. Sure will do next time I'm back under there - it lifts up enough for access without removing the wipers. Best wishes David Best wishes David
  8. Hello! I have just tried to replace my sensor but failed :( . I found the sensor under the scuttle panel but couldn't work out how to 1. Disconnect the electrical connector - there seemed to be some sort of hard collar around the plug on the sensor 2. Undo the old sensor from the bracket - its like a barbed design - presume just squeeze from underneath but seems a bit tricky? Can anyone who has done this diy remember how to do it. Sorry if I'm being thick. Thanks David
  9. Sorry to drag this one up but has anyone changed the glovebox door DIY? And has a new door resolved the issue? Don't mind splashing out for the new part but as long as it works and I can work out how to swap it over! Thanks David
  10. Hi neighbour! is sorry it has sold on ebay. The Octavia 4x4 in your profile looks very smart I will keep an eye out for it David

  12. No mine has done it maybe once since the above post. Hope you get somewhere. Sorry to hear it's getting worse in your case.
  13. Hope you get it sorted soon!

  15. Hi tom500, thanks for adding your similar experience let me know if you get anywhere with it! Thanks
  16. Noted. I guess the wiring diagrams will be on erwin and you could pay for an hours access? https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do I
  17. Not exactly what you describe but is the radiator fan coming on randomly at all?
  18. Thanks, reassuring. That fits with my reading (including the remap). I think the ECU uses a different protocol for starting when cold (? Uses more fuel) so that would fit as well. My main concern is that it isn't going to start at all but hopefully that's not the case!
  19. Thanks. Let me know if you get anywhere!
  20. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the following 2018 Superb 2.0TDI 190 4x4 Combi 32000 miles Owned by me for 3months 5000 miles In daily use with regular long motorway runs Intermittent prolonged cranking. Unrelated to cold weather - often starts fine at 5am on frosty mornings. Seems random when it happens. Engine always starts on first go (eventually). Obd11 scan clear - no fault codes Not had cambelt changed Start / stop turned off via Obd11 Had similar behaviour about 5 weeks ago, did a scan, and there was relay failing causing the fan to come on inappropriately - replaced relay and the fan doesn't cut in like it used to and the cranking issues settled down for a few weeks but have now returned. I have searched around for similar issues and there are a wide variety of suggested causes: battery in need of replacement, starter motor in need of replacement, earth cable issue, "injector drift" fixed temporarily by software update, can be mapped out, timing out, normal / don't worry about it. I have basic diy ability and tools. I don't have a battery tester. I don't mind taking to a garage if reqd but ideally I would understand what is likely to be going on before hand, or fixing it myself if practical. I was thinking it may be worth replacing battery in the first instance? Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer! David
  21. Hi there, Can I ask what you preferred about the B6 on your Octavia? I came from an Octavia vRS and would quite like to improve the dampers on my Superb (non sport line, non DCC) ideally on OEM springs and maintaining a reasonably comfortable ride. Was thinking of the B6 or Special Active and interested in your thoughts having tried both, albeit on different cars. Cheers
  22. Just adding to this thread that I had the same problem with the radiator coming on at random (would cut in when parked) and behaviour not consistent with DPF regens. Car was at times reluctant to start with prolonged cranking (possibly because battery run down from fan? Or effects from the relay failing - not sure). My car is a 2018 TDI 190 4x4 Estate 30,000 miles. OBD Error Code: P068b ECM/PCM Power Relay De-Energized Performance – Too Late. Following advice from this thread I replaced both relays marked 645 in the engine bay fuse box (I think it's the relay nearest the front of the car marked on wiring diagrams as J271 that was causing the issue but wasn't 100% sure so did both!) Seems to have resolved the issue. Purchased Bosch Relays from amazon. The OE part was made by Hella but not sure it really matters. Very easy to swap out, just like a big fuse. OE Part Number: 4H0951253A Bosch Part Number: 0986332040 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0068M38ZI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_EAH5N4RM0FP0YZHPW4XN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Photo attached. Hope that the above info helps add to the info on this as I found this thread really useful to resolve the problem.
