Take the front bumper off first, loads of guides on here and internet.
Then get some tape to hold the splitter in place and where you want it, cut down the centre lugs on the splitter, (makes sense when you see it). Drill some pilot holes and use self tappers, done in ten mins.

ooh that fabia looks good with the colour coded grill and white alloys. Really must look into doing that to mine.

Looks like i missed a good afternoon (though the climbing was good). Was good to meet atleast some of you. Hopefully i can make the next one. Cheers

Looks good, been thinking of doing mine silver the match all the dash dials and gear knob

One more for the collection.
Regarding fronts, on here they are 25% and were legal when fitted 7 years ago, is it my fault that the law has since changed - how does it apply retrospectively? Beside I think the measurement of light transmission is completely flawed, standard glass without any tint (by which I mean OEM tint) will not transmit 100% light, so what's the basis for the prescribed minimum permissible light transmission level? Any law types care to answer?
As a rough estimation, I'd suggest I can easily see a vehicle approaching in the dark with lights on over a mile away were I waiting to pull out at a junction on a straight flat road; I can see streetlights and all sorts from the Isle of Wight to Gosport across the Solent which is 4 miles
Dark limo tints on fronts are stupid but very light smokes don't in my opinion present a hazard, but if deemed so by law mkers then surely driving with suglasses must also be a danger and so should be banned .
Try this link:
http://www.ukmotorists.com/tinted%20windows.htm
You'll see from that, that even your 25% tinted windows, combined with the standard factory tint, will make them illegal. Unless of course the film gives you 75% transmission when combined with that overall.
As i mentioned earlier standard glass lets through about 78% light. Regarding the earlier comment (i forget by who) about getting points and a £60 fine, i think that is quite harsh and would like to know what endorsement code was put on your license? Most i've known is a £30/VDRS/remove the film at the roadside.

Can someone just confirm (as im lazy and dont want to go out in the rain and check before ordering) what the main bulb is in a 01 VRS? H7 or H4?
Just been looking at some cheap HID's on ebay and quite fancy a set.

Got all 4 done on mine just before xmas, seem to be wearing well. Love em, good cheap tyre and to be fair i didnt think they were too bad in the snow either.
-
Have been contemplating getting mine powdercoated white. Looks really good, but leave the red stripe off.
How did you do the chrome bit on the grill, was it easy?
-
Looks like i might be able to make this too. Providing i get the car clean!
-
You sure? As far as im aware it a non endorsable offence, as its classed as glass not conforming so only £30.
-
Like westallc said, normal front window glass is roughly 78% using a tintman which is what the police use to test the visible light transmission. Putting anything else on the fronts will obviously put it below the legal limit so you run the risk of a fine or having to take them out. Your choice.

we just need to sort out a group buy for scaffolding poles and we can all have a go!

Cheers for that, a very useful site. have reset the light with the diagnostic tool i bought and took it out for a drive today.......sods law light has stayed off!!!! Think i'll get the coil pack replaced anyway as its only £30 and then take it from there, though it seems that the 02 sensor needs replacing as its linked to that 17545 code.
Anyone know where the 02 sensor is located?
-
Hi got one of these today and i can say that for the money, it works very easily and has already saved me £40 for a diagnostic from an auto electrician.
Anyway its thrown up the following codes:
16486 - mass or volume air flow circuit low input
16684 - random misfire detected any cylinder
16687 - cylinder 3 misfire detected
16514 - 02 sensor circuit malfunction bank 1 sensor 1
17545
17705
so im guessing (hoping) that the 2nd and 3rd codes are linked and a coil pack?
I cant find the 17545 but from a search on here it seems that maybe a throttle body clean and check of the pipes might sort this and the 17705 codes. Does anyone have any ideas about the other 2. Do you think that i will need to replace the MAF and 02 sensor? I have a MAF cleaner so will probably try this first when sorting the throttle body etc out. But do these codes mean a knackered sensor or just a consequence of the other things malfunctioning?
If the 02 sensor does need replacing can you tell me where it is and if its something a semi competent person can do?
For a bit of info its running only slightly rough, there is a hesitant on idle and initial acceleration but no problem boosting or steady driving.
thanks in advance

HI,
Am i right in thinking the standard 007p can be fitted either way round?
What are the pros and cons of both?
Cheers
-
Looking goo....but watch out for the po po as your not supposed to have wheels that stick out past the arches!!!
-
Many thanks for your replies and help, think for the sake of £26 i'll get one ordered. The first time i use it to diagnose i'll save on a typical £45 diagnostic job on an engine management light.

Thinking of getting one of these to save money on garage bills
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150420083211&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Anyone know if it will work on a mk1 vrs? or better still does anyone gave one?
cheers

Did you buy the replacement pipes from the dealer as im looking to do this myself next week. Can you give me an idea of cost?
cheers

HI,
Is there anyone with a diagnostic/vag com near Leeds/Bradford. engine management light has come on again and i cant afford another £45 for someone to spend 5 mins telling me its nothing. Last time said it was O2 sensor, reset it and it didnt come back on, so said not to worry about it, that was 2 months ago!
Still running and boosting fine.
Thanks in advance

a cable tie on the small vac line is usually OK and you will need either a green or yellow spring.
Edit: Green for standard and some remaps, yellow for remap
Many thanks for that, best get a green spring ordered.
If anyone has a green spring for one that they dont need please let me know, especially if you want to swap it for a blue one!

May find this helpful

Was the first place i looked. If i knew what pressure the turbo was putting out as standard i wouldnt be asking the first part of the question.
