2020 F1 Discussion
Shy - we're still in National Lockdown until December 2nd, which according to gov.uk means: So enjoy your birthday celebration but admitting on a public forum that you're breaking the lockdown restrictions isn't a particularly bright thing to do?

WOW! That's a 56% to 80% price increase for the 150kW chargers.

Superb IV improving battery performance
I don't think you'll get very far as Skoda clearly quote that the up to 55km is in the WLTP cycle and not in the real world.

Golf 8 deliveries were delayed several months after the press release to enable VW to sort out "software problems" - it sounds like they didn't delay long enough? Worst Golf launch ever?

I'm still on the original battery after over 5 years, start/stop left active.

Wheel Spacers
Manufacturers have to meet strict corporate average emissions and fuel consumption targets or face large fines so for them substance is more important than style.

Contention ratio is the term used to for the number of users that are currently sharing data capacity. If you have a lower contention ratio you will get faster broadband. For example, a contention ratio of 75:1 means that 75 broadband users are currently sharing the same bandwidth. What is contention ratio?

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
But with newer vehicles eventually going to all EVs the market for petrol & diesel will virtually disappear so filling stations as we know them will also disappear meaning that owners of classic vehicles will need to find some other place to purchase fossil fuels - probably at a much higher price. To me the crazy thing is we'll still be needing lubricants for EVs (grease and lubricating oil for bearings etc.) so we'll likely still be digging up fossil fuels which means the refineries will have to find something to do with the then unwanted fractions that are currently sold as petrol, diesel, heating oil etc. I know they can adjust the cracking process to reduce those fractions, but they can't eliminate them totally - so will those fractions then just be flared off, causing something new for the eco-warriors to complain about?

Sounds like you might need something like this USB to 12V Step-Up Converter

Interesting stats on the decline of filling stations in the UK
Petrol & diesel prices at the independent garage near where I leave are typically 9p per litre more than the supermarkets in both of the nearest towns, so anyone who shops/works in those towns buys fuel there not locally.

What models fits this touchscreen?
As a start 5E0 = Octavia 3. The rest of the part number tells what it is and version, there are experts on here such as @SashaGraceand @pab567who can answer what infotainment systems and versions that will work with - wait for them to come along and you'll get the answers you need.

activate folding wing mirrors on octavia IV
I would say it is a very safe bet that the "normal" wing mirrors won't have the motors needed to fold them.

No DAB Signal on Bolero Radio
First thing to check is that the DAB antenna lead is securely plugged into the main unit - which is the one in the glovebox (the screen in the centre console is just a screen).

Welcome, and ask away - preferably in the Octavia III forum where other owners of the same Octavia spend most of their time.

Will trickle charging or jump-starting your car's battery invalidate the warranty?
Whoever at SEAT answered the question doesn't have a clue - yes EVs and hybrids use Lithium Ion batteries (for the propulsion batteries) but ICE and hybrids use Lead acid batteries (for the non-propulsion batteries).

How to install an extra front camera in Bolero system
Just because it can be done on an 8K Audi A4 doesn't mean it can be done on a Skoda Octavia - the Audi has MMI but the Octavia has MIB infotainment systems.

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
Not if your income is low (like most farm workers) and you can't get finance - then you're stuck with what you have.

... but many more don't, especially those who just see a car as a 'box' that gets them from A to B. It's easy to forget that car forum members have far more interest in, and knowledge of, cars than the majority of Joe/Joanne Public.

Thinking of buying a VRS diesel. What to look out for?
Seriously think about whether the sort of miles you drive will be suitable for a diesel with DPF - if you don't regularly do longish drives then a petrol may be a better choice.
