  1. Probably not - the ID.3s currently being delivered are having huge software updates (over 8 hours) with an even bigger software update already scheduled for February. VAG are definitely using customers (not only ID.3 but also Golf 8 and Octavia IV) as alpha/beta software testers
  2. My Octavia has an Amundsen not a Columbus so I don't have a jukebox and will have to let someone with more expertise than me answer what formats are recognised and how to load them onto the jukebox.
  3. My wife used to have a 2005 Fabia 1.2 - which we traded in for our current 2015 Octavia Elegance 1.4TSI Combi. I used to travel to northern Finland regularly for business (Oulu - so I guess you know the company I used to work for!) until 2003.
  4. Almost.... here's the reply from Skoda CS: I've replied reminding them that Skoda UK Support say they can't do anything as the app development is lead in the Czech Republic so it seems pointless referring me back to Skoda UK
  5. I got a reply to my email to Skoda support complaining about the loss of functionality (no Digital Service History) between the old MySkoda app and Skoda Connect Lite (I can't use Skoda Connect as I have a MIB1) - asking for the VIN. So I expect to get a reply saying tough, you're stuck with the useless Connect Lite.

  7. I only have the basic camera (20 not A5) in my Octavia and find that HBA works 'almost' perfectly - it's late dipping maybe one time in a hundred, so we use it all the time.
  8. Service intervals are based on time as well as mileage, was it pre-registered? 2020 models were being built at the factory from around August 2019 until July 2020, since then they've been building 2021 models.
  9. Welcome! Does the infotainment rip the CDs into the jukebox itself or can you load your digitised files from a USB stick? If the former, what format does it rip (I'd bet MP3 which isn't lossless)?
  10. My point exactly, the 'new' app has been badly written - but maybe that was deliberate? Why do I think that? Because owners of an older Skoda have lost features of the MySkoda app so may be tempted to trade-in to a newer Skoda, and owners of a newer Skoda may be tempted to pay the £100 to get all the promised features of the new app - so is it a deliberate marketing plan to sell new cars? Yes I AM an old cynic
  11. Not me, I just downloaded the 'Skoda Connect' app, clicked on Check VIN and on entering my VIN got this message: Unfortunately, your vehicle is not equipped with the "SKODA Connect" and "SmartLink+" technologies.
  12. Seems that Smartlink provides the underlying framework for the app to access the cellular connection in the MIB to connect to the Skoda servers (hence the need for a MIB2 fitted with a SIM and a £100 annual subscription for access to the Skoda servers). You could, logically IMHO, argue that since the phone has a cellular connection a better app design would use that to connect to the Skoda servers.
  13. Smartlink IS required to use Skoda Connect, the connectivity it provides is needed for the Skoda Connect app to work.
  14. I have the same issue (my 2015 Octavia doesn't support Smartlink) so I've purchased a Skoda Data Plug and am trying the Skoda Connect Lite app. First impressions aren't great as it doesn't seem to offer access to the digital service history but I suppose it's better than nothing.
  15. Over the years I've had 3 points a couple of times, and never had a premium increase - both times my premium went DOWN at the next renewal?
  16. The screen is a totally separate item, and it's usually just this that goes faulty so the head unit (in the glovebox) doesn't need replacing. The screen doesn't need any coding when replaced.
  17. SWMBO and I both have Bose QC headphones that we use when on flights to/from the US visiting family. The noise cancellation is good enough for SWMBO to even get to sleep on the return flight - something she has never done before having the Bose QCs.
  18. I always unzip the downloaded file onto my hard disk, and then copy it onto the SD card. Doing this I have a backup of all the map files (one every 6 months since I bought my Octavia) on my hard drive - which is also backed up onto my NAS drive.
  19. Probably better if you ask in the Fabia forum not the Octavia forum
  20. I think they have two problems - firstly much of the software isn't written by Skoda but their suppliers so they have to persuade the suppliers there is a problem and how to recreate it so they can fix it; and secondly most software is written by teams of engineers so it's very likely that the engineer who wrote it won't be the person asked to correct it and some software engineers seem to have an amazing ability to write unintelligible code!
  21. Well said - 100% agree, concerns about lack of infrastructure mean that what we need is range to make EVs attractive to more buyers/leasers.
  22. You can get some better Halogen bulbs that are Road Legal - look for Osram NightBreaker and similar.
