Android auto maps issues
Even when connected to the car with Android Auto or CarPlaythe phone uses it's own GPS. I found that I left the phone in my pocket the GPS was very poor so now I get the phone out of my pocket and put it in the centre console.

Car buying trends in the UK.
In large conurbations possibly, but out in rural areas where the nearest small town can be many miles away and there is no rural bus service then personal mobility is still going to be the norm. Where I live we have no takeaway delivery services (Deliveroo, Uber Eats, et al), the nearest medium/large supermarket is at least 15 miles away and getting a delivery slot is a lottery, the nearest DIY stores carry such a limited stock that you have to drive the to nearest large town nearly 50 miles away for even some basic home maintenance items - you get the picture?

Ordered New Octavia VRS iV - Help with options?
I think one reason is the way that with DSG it can stop the engine while the car is still slowly moving (at least that happens on the Octavia III) which leaves you with power steering.

Ordered New Octavia VRS iV - Help with options?
That WAS true until 2018/2019 models when VAG deleted the software that looked at that voltage value (and also deleted the other hack that changed a temperature threshold). So the simple fact is you CANNOT disable start/stop with software tweaks anymore, the only methods are to disconnect the battery current monitor from the sense wire on the battery negative or (where the start/stop switch is a physical switch) by adding a third party memory module.

Ordered New Octavia VRS iV - Help with options?
That can't happen with stop/start as VAG have removed the ability to disable it from their firmware - because of emissions reasons and Dieselgate means they can't be seen to be allowing anything that will increase emissions.

Oil temperature
My previous car came from Audi with an oil temperature related rpm limiter - the OE setting was 40 Celsius before the 4000rpm limiter was lifted to the 'normal' rpm limit of 8250rpm but several tuners changed the setting to 70 Celsius.

Skoda MK3 interior light
Definitely either front door, can't say I've ever looked to see if the rear doors turn on the front light?

Skoda MK3 interior light
You keep drip feeding us new information! That certainly sounds like the switch contacts in the roof light are 'iffy'.

Kopacek LED interior light upgrades - how to fit??
The interior bulbs aren't monitored so getting CANBUS ones isn't necessary.

Does my 2016 Octavia 1.5 SeL have ACC or not?
Three stalks isn't nonsense - if there are 3 stalks then the Octavia has cruise control, check the type of stalk to see if has ACC (has a distance adjuster on the top). I think it's pretty clear you have either been ripped off, or more likely yet another dealer with appalling car knowledge thought the car had ACC when it doesn't. ACC requires a FeC (Feature enabling Code) so the only way to retrofit it is if Skoda do an official retrofit kit - and AFAIK they don't.

Does my 2016 Octavia 1.5 SeL have ACC or not?
You can't, and why would you want to? On UK roads adaptive cruise control is so much more useful than normal cruise control - having gone from a car with normal to a car with adaptive I would never go back.

The switch is built in to the door lock, it's not a separate switch like in the old days.

VW ID. 3 (rear wheel drive) :First Drive by Fully Charged. Youtube vid.
It would have been a good idea to sort out all the software bugs in the ID.3 first - there was a big patch this month and another possibly even bigger one scheduled for February. Personally I wouldn't consider ANY car with as many software issues as the ID.3 has at the moment - it makes the problems with the Golf 8 and the Octavia IV look very minor.

17” to 16” wheels. Scout 2016
It's a requirement to get Type Approval for speedos to read between 0% and 10% over, typically most manufacturers calibrate them to read 5% over to allow for tyre wear and different wheel/tyre sizes without having to recalibrate.

Skoda MK3 interior light
Always? If always then the timer has kicked in to turn the lights off to prevent battery drain - so the problem is with the door open switch in the drivers door.

return to idle speed
Sounds like the battery management system thinks the battery is in a poor state of charge?

Car written off - Insurance Co Want To Cancel Policy After 30 Days. Expert help please
If you can't find a good replacement might be worth getting a 'smoker' just to keep the policy live?

Media
To help we need to know what version of Octavia you have, III or IV? BTW starting two threads on the same subject isn't a good idea as you'll get split replies which is likely to confuse - the simple rule is one thread per subject.

OK, with that information and knowing that the middle light doesn't come on with the switch in either on or switched positions it sounds like either the bulb is blown (check with a multimeter) or volts aren't getting to the bulb due to contact problems - time to get the multimeter out and do some tracing.

VW ID.4 SUV EV
When you can achieve that and rely on there being a charger available when & where you need it EVs will become a viable alternative instead of being only of minority interest.

Skoda U.K. announces new My Skoda app
Neither the new MySkoda nor the ConnectLite (for those of us who cannot use MySkoda any longer) has the service history - I've raised this with Skoda CZ who passed me back to Skoda UK whose response is less than convincing: I'm sorry but IMHO removing it isn't acceptable as that's the best way most owners have of accessing the service history. If anyone else feels the same way then I suggest more of you complain to Skoda UK about the loss of the service history from the apps, the email address is [email protected]

Skoda U.K. announces new My Skoda app
Methinks the profanity filter on briskoda is rather too intrusive since it filters out the generic description for devices like the Apple Watch

Sounds like time to check the fuses.

Are MPG calculations on computer accurate?
We leave our 1.4 TSI in Individual mode, with Sport selected for the engine, and consistently get 45mpg in mixed driving - no large towns near where we live so can't answer what we get in urban driving! I did try other engine modes but the difference they made to mpg was negligible so opted for staying in Sport mode.
