  1. Thank you for taking time to read it guys. Yes I'll be along to the fabia 1 section soon enough. I need to refresh myself with some of the common upgrades and necessary part numbers. Been nearly 10yrs since I had a fabia. Is there a sticky or similar for parts and part numbers.

  2. Recently sold my suzuki ignis sport.

The car was great but chasing perfection was getting expensive. I got a good amount for it when sold. The plan was to get another shed put a good chunk back in the bank. Unfortunately my mate hadnt read the script and showed me a fabia vrs for sale which fitted the bill perfectly.

Went for a drive. Very honest seller explained all known problems.

    Got it home

Had an hour on Sunday so thought I'd chuck a sponge over it see what condition the paint comes up

Few details 115k miles 05 asz. 10m mot, recently had timing belt /pump, brakes all round including calipers, rear springs, front wheel bearing, 2 pirelli p zero nero tyres.

The paintwork has a few scabs, lacquer peel which I'll tackle my self and the clutch occasionally slips in sixth under heavy load.

Took the car to work today to access mechanically. Only minor issues to report. It wants one cv boot, track rod end and the oil was a litre over max.

First things will be a service, address minor mechanical issues, clutch when funds have recovered.

Ill be doing bits and pieces to it but my diy to keep costs down. The suzuki got a bit crazy chasing perfection. This won't be going the same way

    Thanks for reading

  3. Just purchased my skoda fabia estate 1.6tdi Monte Carlo in blue 63 plate absolutely love it even if it isn't quick I love the look of it. image.jpeg

Think that was the ones were looking at in Warrington? Justcouldnt get the finances in place before our holiday. Still on the hunt. Im holding out till I'm 110% sure I'm buying right one instead of doing my usual trick of buying first one I see.

If it's sluggish get a remap thrown on it. Soon liven it up

  4. The clunking and pinging sounds like either a broken coil spring right at the top where it locates on the top mount, or a top mount bearing seizing up and skipping round.

Can you see the top mount under the bonnet? Is it rusty, alot of modern cars seem to collect water dripping off the scuttle. With yours being low mileage points to it not moving alot water could of gathered and soaked into top mount

  5. Ask to be shown another vrs that makes the same noise if you have doubts. I did it with kia when they said there was nothing wrong with the starting. It sounded like a bag of spanners, misfiring and smoking. Just walked upto same model at dealers turned the key turned it back off and said ring me when you've sorted it

  6. I am saying that there are Race Blue Mk2 Fabia Monte Carlo Estates for what ever reason, you see them for sale.

end of line using Body Shells built or what ever,

so someone being 'not aware' means that you are not aware, not that there are none, its not rocket science is it?

Skoda UK Customer services are always there to ask simple questions of, because they are hopeless if you ask difficult ones.

You seem A little tense... You going to be OK?

I know it's not rocket science but I couldn't work out whether or not you were saying yes it's a factory colour or no someone has imported it/sprayed it. If it was the latter option then I would reconsider my search as I want a factory standard order model.

  7. Being like hens teeth does not mean that they do not exist.

(hens teeth dont, but cars in not UK order factory option colours do.)

Like the 3 x 69ps Mk2 Monte Carlo that were used for Media purposes and used to be kicking about.

Cars get built for other world regions and imported, get built for shows and photo shoots, and even special builds for a various other reasons.

(they could have been heading to Australia or other Right Hand Drive countries yet end up in the UK for 1 reason or another.)

You even get Spray Painters that do a full respray and colour change and do it properly.

    Even on nearly new cars...

2 of the 3 Mk2 Fabia Monte Carlo Estates in Race Blue advertised on Autotrader are nice low mileage examples.

    http://autotrader.co.uk

So are you saying they wernt released in race blue? Or is it a end of line thing like the mk1 se to get rid of old stock.

  8. I haven't actually found the 'one' yet. But we're hunting for a mk2 estate. Originally wanted a vrs but the engine woes genuinely scared me right off them. We've settled on a race blue monte Carlo estate with either 1.6tdi or a 1.2tsi (need to drive one of these yet) which ever one we get will bereaved so will be closeish to vrs performance hopefully without all the vrs worrys

  9. I've just stumbled across a metallic blue monte estate. Looks very nice. So I guess more research into 1.2tsi/1.6tdi is needed.

Kia are a good car..... Well has been for us. We've had our rio from 6months/400 miles to nearly 4 years old and 50k miles. I've just replaced the discs, pads and all 4 tyres now. Regularly returns over 600 miles to a tank of diesel. On a 250 mile journey down south from Manchester, it did it on less than a 1/4 of diesel. Free to tax, cheap insurance and even though we got bottom spec still came with Bluetooth, air con, I've added cruise control for £50 using genuine parts.

  10. Thanks exactly what I needed to hear. Incidentally our other car is a kia rio 1.1crdi bought for the 7 year warranty has-been fantastic!

The engine issues I'm aware of. First job will be a remap and egr delete. As soon as dpf starts giving trouble that'll becoming off aswell.

The elegance spec is the only onethat interests me. Im guessing you have done your research on the kias. Im used to my gadgets now.

  11. Well hopefully coming back to a fabia again. This time a mk2 tdi estate. Had my mk1 vrs around 7 years ago. Various cars in between. Last couple of years been doing the shed thing whilst saving for a house. I love my hot hatches but with 2 young children, a missus and big boot space needed we've decided on a fabia mk2 tdi estate

Looking for some reviews from people who own them please

I'm presuming elegance is best spec wise. Power wise not to bothered as it'll be getting a remap anyway.

Has anyone fitted a monte front end on one?

    Thanks for any info/honest reviews.

  12. You can press them in if you have the correct tooling that allows you to press on the bearing itself and not the hub flange (which puts the force of the press through the bearing). The fact that VW group developed special tooling that was later copied by several after market tool manufacturers high lights the need to do it correctly.

Mate I'd give up I've seen several wheel bearing issue threads in which you state the correct way of installing the bearing and no one is taking a blind bit of notice! Then complaining of noises still being there.
