  1. Cheers AG, I'll be checking over my new RS (diesel) tomorrow before it's registered for the road and I'll be taking photos as well as a tape measure to the brakes to see if mine is fitted with either the 340mm or 312mm, so can compare against one another.
  2. I'm open to correction but is the carrier not more rounded near the hub on the 19" extremes i.e 312mm yet on the Gemini 18" the carrier pretty much flat? Here's another diesel RS, registered after July this year once again with the Gemini's 18" the carrier is flat near the hub.
  3. Irish vRS are getting fitted with either 312mm or 340mm, but there's no consistency. Some of the comments on this thread were saying that 312mm are only being put on the diesel versions from the 1st January this year yet looking through carzone there is diesel versions being fitted with the larger 340mm brakes.
  4. Sorry to raise a old thread, but I was having a quick look on carzone and as it's pretty much all oil burners in Ireland there is yet to be registered 2017 vRS TDI with either 340mm brakes or 312mm brakes. So is it only UK spec diesels being given the 312mm or are the people in the factory putting on disc brakes closest to hand?
  5. Cheers still has to be polished up, was only out of the wrapping when I took the picture. The colour change when SWMBO reminded me that I gave her choice on the colour, she loves the race blue so had to hastily call the dealer along with adding the black pack, but have to say I'm delighted with it. Pick it up the 4th to go with the new 171 plate in Ireland. I've asked for wind deflectors to be put on the front along with mudguards, and will most likely get the spoiler painted or wrapped to match the grill and wing mirrors. Hope you enjoy the new car.
  6. Got a ring from George Corbetts this afternoon informing me car had been delivered after sitting for 2 days on a transporter in Dublin due to NVD messing up their end saying car had been delivered to Corbett's on the 21st. I managed to get out to see it before they closed for the Christmas period, and it appears it got a top coat of paint before it left the factory. Hoping to have it on the road the 4th January.
  7. My own car is doing the same '14 reg 1.6TDi with 27,000 milea, made a separate post on the forum. Main dealer has acknowledged the issue and will replace the component along with servicing it the same day.
  8. Would it cause any problems if I only drive the car short distances. I can't get it seen to until January unfortunately.
  9. So another update, took the car for a spin totalling 40 miles. Within 10 minutes the car started creeping over 90° eventually reaching a max of 115, at this point I was going to pull over and stop the gauge from going any higher. What I did notice was that as the coolant gauge climbed so did the oil, that hitting 110° before both fell back to 90° for the coolant and 90-95° for the oil for the remaining 40 minutes of driving. I tried putting the engine under load in 2nd and 3rd gear to see if they would deviate, the oil did rise back to around 100° but the coolant gauge stayed fixed at 90° To be honest I'm none the wiser as to what's caused/causing this and I can't get the car seen to till January. Attached are two pictures one while pulled over, the other after the 40 miles. https://imgur.com/gallery/wKlAt
  10. Quite possible Peter as when I came to a stop, the temperature did start to drop below 110. I'll know this evening for certain whether it's nothing or something of concern.
  11. Probably not the most accurate of tests, but I left the car to run while idling on my break with the ventilation on full low a/c not used. Coolant gauge hit the 50 mark in 10 minutes, 16 minutes to hit the 70 mark and then stayed dead on 90 at the 23 minute mark. Left it 10 minutes and needle didn't go beyond the 90 mark. I switched the vents to high on full, again a/c not used and needle immediately started to drop below 90 eventually hovering around the 60 mark. I checked the coolant level before starting and it was above the max level, where the top and bottom half of the reservoir are joined. There's no scum either, so thankfully no mixing of oil and coolant and the exhaust runs clear. I'll take it for a spin after work and check again if the coolant temperature goes above 90 and report back. Thankfully car is still under warranty should there be a problem.
  12. Hi folks, Just a quick one this morning. On my commute to work my coolant gauge went to 110°C this morning, this is the first time it has ever happened. No excessive speed max about 60mph, car is due a service in the next 1,000 miles. The fans did kick in and brought it back down to 90° but is there any reason for this to happen. Any help is much appreciated.
  13. I think your right, when I popped into them in early November to get a build date on the car, I was shown the list of orders 70+ for Skodas alone. That is a fair bit of pressure as from what I could see they have separate sales teams for the Skoda,Seat & Mazda brand. I do wish them the best, but they could do with an extra pair of hands and someone familiar with the brand.
  14. Having a quick Google I see what you mean about the aluminium and piano black, it does change the interior. I can't blame ya, I'd most likely feel the same, the Superb exudes class on the outside, and you'd want the same behind the wheel. I'm hoping to see my RS tomorrow considering our cars were on the same ship. Hoping they ring me for a change as I've had to ring them about everything so far.
  15. Nice one 170, looking forward to seeing some pics of the car. Hopefully the lack of ambient lighting doesn't put any sort of downer on your ownership of the car. At least your dealer is pushing for compensation on the matter so hopefully you'll have a good resolution to it. By the way, does this mean a name change to Superb150
  16. Just a small update on my order. The car is currently on the boat, and should be in Dublin Port in the early hours of the Wednesday morning. According to my dealer George Corbetts, they expect it to be with them by Friday. 7 weeks from the date of order to the dealer's. Just for any Irish on here, if your trying to track your car, the vessel you need to track is the Emden.
  17. That is a fantastic tool to keep customers updated and feel part of the process. Hope you enjoy many miles in the polar bear.
  18. Really sorry to hear Toffee. Structurally behind the bumper you should be alright, I got hit by a Insignia last year that hit me while stopped at a roundabout on a 60MPH road. My car jolted forward about 15ft, but other than needing a new bumper and parking sensors it was all ok. Hopefully it'll be the same for you, and you'll be back on the road in no time.
  19. Not a bad update to the interior trim, even though I know it's for the Czech market. Full LED headlights standard on the Style version, Bolero & Amundsen units has been increased to a 8" screen from Ambition spec up, with the Columbus 9.2" screen optional. Kessy standard on the Style. I'm still torn on the outward appearance until I see it in the flesh, but on the interior it's a welcome update in terms of refinement and polish.
  20. I'd be demanding the order number emdoc and contacting Skoda directly. From what you've wrote, it sounds like they couldn't give a crap about either you or the car.
  21. I'm not believing the story for a second as reported here by Car & Driver even a 540hp Mustang doing a 100mph will stop with brakes with the accelerator fully down at the same time. Link here also tested a V6 Camry and Infiniti G37 http://www.caranddriver.com/features/how-to-deal-with-unintended-acceleration
  22. Welcome to the forum Tommy. A nice choice of colour on the RS. Hope you enjoy the car, I have the hatchback on order for January as well from George Corbetts, it'll be my 4th Skoda and at this stage I wouldn't go past the brand.
  23. The dealer just needs to activate smartlink so, there's usually a cost involved. I'm not sure how much it would be in Australia, but I'd expect a minimum of $200.
  24. Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy many trouble free miles in the Scout. Depending on what side of 2015 it was built it may have satnav, as the radios were upgraded to MIB 2 meaning it'll have smartlink so you can use Android Auto or Apple Carplay.
  25. As much as I'd love to have the car this second, I'm hoping it wont, don't want the car stuck on the forecourt unable to be driven until the 171 registration plate rolls round in January.
