It's in the ditch with the Kamiq's lane assistance technology!

Scary, very scary. Drivers will switch off and be incapable of quickly reacting to emergencies. Disaster waiting to happen.

Back Again
Thanks CJJE but I will keep my current Yeti for another year or so. Just had a look at the new Peugeot 2008 and quite impressive, beautiful cabin, drivers seat height looked okay but will need further checking (didn't sit in display model as I was just browsing). Tech seems good with 8 speed auto box. Why are all cars made with black seats, I prefer pale leather interiors.

Anyone want a Kamiq?
DVLA, like most of civil servants, are sitting at home and protesting how hard worked they are as they relax in the garden!

Coming back to the Yeti fold.
I bought a 1.2 SEL Drive DSG as a run out model swapping in a 2012 1.2 Elegance DSG. Reason I swapped for another Yeti was that I couldn’t see anything else that matched it in terms of space and general rightness! I added the electric seat, adjustable boot floor and rear view camera as extras. The electric seat provides the perfect seating position with everything adjustable, including lumbar support, then the seat remembers that position while my wife can reset it to her preference and it remembers those settings as well. Magic as linked to separate key fobs the seats adjust to the right position for each of us as soon as we unlock the doors. I changed the OEM Goodyear Efficientgrips (excellent tyres) for Goodyear 4 Seasons G2’s, the 4 Seasons are very, very quiet and provide a more compliant ride. If you decide to change your Primacy 3’s you won’t be disappointed. Incidentally I spec’d both Yeti’s with 16” wheels for a smoother ride, contentious on this site, but the ride is far smoother than my friends Yeti on 17” wheels.

Coming back to the Yeti fold.
Before I moved to Yorkshire I had my servicing done by Rainworth Skoda. Always found them to be fair and reasonable with service charges. Not sure why DSG, Haldex etc. servicing is not included in the regular service intervals - maybe the cost would scare off some customers but those services are vital to health of your Yeti.

For £35 difference I would go with the official Skoda version, and I believe that includes activation. I know people say it's easy to do but after I had a new radio fitted (under warranty) it was not as simple as claimed to install and activate. Skoda electrical technician eventually sorted it, but it was not straight forward.

I know but even on highest level it is significantly lower than the Yeti driving seat height of 646-699mm. Still I can but try!

I paid £135 in 2017 to have Smartlink on a new Yeti as OEM. I suggest you give your dealers parts dept a call - they will have the exact price for you to use to negotiate.

Back Again
I guess I will, I’ve sat in a Kamiq in the showroom and was very aware that I sat down into the seat rather than sliding in on the same level as I do in my current Yeti. My wife has a back problem and finds the Yeti perfect to get in and out of - she has problems with friends hatchbacks - Golf and Focus - because although she can “fall” down into the seat she has real problems climbing out! She hasn’t tried the Kamiq but I fear she is likely to have a similar problem, however, lets try it and see how it goes.

I can't figure out why Skoda reduced the seating height so much. The VW T-Cross is built on the same platform as the Kamiq but the seating is significantly higher and, as the reviews say, gives drivers the elevated position of an SUV Crossover. It's a deal breaker for many of us.

I will 'third' that! My original 2012 Skoda mats still going strong in 2020.

Back Again
Thanks, but Karoq is both longer (by 160 mm) and wider than the Yeti. I really don't need or want a bigger car. Guess when I have to change it will have to be to another marque. But what??

Yeti car mats - fitting
Well, l had a 2012 Yeti and transferred the floor mats to my 2017 Yeti. I assume you are meaning loose mats and not the built in ones?

As a current Yeti owner I too will be interested in the comments of Kamiq owners who previously had a Yeti. I have looked at the Kamiq in Skoda dealers and it is nice but does seem to much lower than the Yeti. The driving position doesn't seem much higher than regular hatchbacks. I am getting on a bit and like sliding into my Yeti seat while I sat down in the Kamiq. Looking forward to owners views.

Bought a Karoq!!
Sad to see you go, but inevitably our numbers are going to fall as time goes by and members leave for pastures new. In over 55 years of motoring the Yeti is the only car I bought to replace a Yeti and I must admit it has earned a place in my affections like no other car. And boy have I had some cars, starting with a split screen Morris Minor convertible - didn't attract the ladies like my mates bug eyed Sprite but it had a big back seat....,.. Enjoy your Karoq and let us all know what you think of it.

From Fabia to Yeti
Town and city centres are dying, stores are closing and footfall is declining, soon they will become ghost towns unless Council's take action to entice people back. Demonising diesels and other forms of personal transport will simply accelerate the decline. Already the busiest sectors are out of town shopping with free parking, now with cinemas, restaurants and other entertainments. Powers that be don't seem to get it that people will not be lectured to and meekly obey their "betters" in a nanny state.

Welcome to the Yeti club, you will find that members of this forum are a source of all knowledge Yetiwise! Only thing I would do if I were you was to get your new Yeti serviced plus an A/C service and brake fluid change soon as you can. After that an annual oil and filter change should keep you in fine fettle. Good luck.

Okay, but at that annual mileage it really should be on an annual service plan. You could use that as a negotiating point because it needs a service. Other issues not deal breakers. How does it drive?
