  1. If you are keeping the car long term you could look for the latest Amundsen head unit so getting all the attributes of the latest unit. Might find one in breakers yard or eBay etc. Otherwise first find a good auto electrician and get their experience and advice on best units to fit.
  2. Just change the car if you can. Possible to change radio system but it's a real pain unless you can find an auto electrician to do it for you - and after all that hassle and expense the car won't be worth a penny more.

That is good value - where have you seen that price? Labour costs would be significant but overall I guess it might be worthwhile if the rest of the car was in excellent condition.

Basically a new engine which would cost more than the Yeti is worth therefore effectively a write off.
  5. I see postage @ £3.20 is more expensive than the product @ £3.18!
  6. The Goodyear Efficient grip tyres has one of the lowest in cabin noise ratings, or even better go for the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons Gen3 tyres. I’ve got them on my Yeti and they most certainly provide a quiet cabin plus they give a more compliant comfortable ride. And, of course, being an all year tyre you are taken care of in summer and winter.
  7. Had windscreen replaced on Sunday, fitter rang me before coming because he was worried about thundery rain. Decided to take Yeti to their depot (7 miles) so work could be done inside. Good call because it poured down as he was fitting it! Replacement was professionally done and fitter clearly knew exactly what he was doing at every stage. Fitting took about 40 mins then had to wait another 30 mins to let adhesive set before driving home. Fitter said to avoid pressure washing for 3 days so as adhesive was fully cured throughout. Screen not from Skoda but it looks identical and everything works as normal. £95 excess but now got uncracked new screen. National Windscreens did a good job, they told me all windscreen companies are hugely busy at the moment.
  8. Same if you order electric drivers seat; used to have memory function so 2 drivers could set their preferences and by the press of a button the seat etc. would glide into their chosen position. No more, electric seat but no memory! So why would anyone want an electric seat without memory function? The motor industry is going through one of their de-contenting phases and it’s only when buyers wise up and refuse to accept it that it will change.
  9. Did the fitters transfer the plastic ticket holder from the old screen to the new or was it included as part of the new windscreen?
  10. Thanks for reassurances. Company used by Insurance Company is National Windscreens which seem to have good reviews so hopefully everything will go okay. Spoke to the manager at local depot and he said they will fix on my drive unless there is a risk of rain when he advises it would be better if I take it to them - only 8 miles so no problem. Fingers crossed!
  11. Just noticed that the windscreen on my 2017 Yeti SEL Drive with heated front screen is cracked from the bottom drivers side in a shallow arc approx 5 inches long finishing just below the arc of the windscreen wipers. Not sure when or how it happened but obviously needs replacing. My Insurance Company uses National Windscreens and they assure me a mobile unit will fit a new heated windscreen and transfer the units for detecting rain (auto wipers) and light detection (auto lights) etc. and align all elements without problem. Anyone had any experience of having a windscreen replaced by National Windscreens (or anyone else) and whether the new windscreen was fitted without problems and the auto wipers, lights etc. performed perfectly once changed? I am going on holiday next week so hoping the windscreen will not deteriorate while I am on my journeys to/from the west country - 1,000 miles round trip!

The reply to minor chips on a used car is simple - if you want an unmarked car buy a new one! Virtually all cars over a month or so old will have minor chips just by being driven over our roads, it is totally unrealistic to expect a 3-4 year old car to not have minor chips and WBAC are being dishonest if they start knocking their offer price down because of them. It is sharp practice to make “come on” quotes and then not honour those quotes unless there is something major not declared by the owner.
  13. Thanks - how much more comfortable would you say the T-Cross is than the Yeti - on a scale of 1-10 say? I’ve seen reviews that suggest the T-Roc is more comfortable and quiet than the T-Cross but difficult to gauge different reviewers so a personal opinion of someone who has driven and owned both a T-Cross and Yeti, like you, is so much more valuable!
  14. CMH - if your Yeti is 2017 then it is “only” one year out of warranty and you have a good chance of getting a major contribution from Skoda for its repair. I would take it back to the dealer and insist they talk to Skoda (UK) to get them to repair it free of charge - "it’s only 4 years old and many other Yeti owners are having the same problem” . Nothing to lose and hopefully you will get a positive response and a qualified Skoda repair.
  15. How did you find refinement and ride compliance/comfort compared to your Yeti?
  16. I thought so too, but noise was not really related to braking, turning at lower speeds and cornering at higher speeds as well as occasionally reversing were the worst. Some suggested reversing at high speed then jamming the brakes on could dislodge it but didn't work for me! Get it to a dealer to check, the usual place for the stone to lodge is between the disc and inner shield so you can't see any scoring from outside.
  17. I found exactly the same problem when looking for a replacement for my 2017 Yeti SEL Drive. Once specced to current Yeti equipment the price was £30k plus - I gave up at that point! Now in limbo but I doubt my next vehicle will be from the VAG stable. Waiting to see the new Honda HR-V but really nothing seems to match the Yeti for all round appeal.
  18. Or you’ve got a stone trapped in the disc brake - happened to me and sound was just like a CV joint failing. In the end it was horrendous in the same conditions you mention and horrible noise sometimes reversing on lock, the dealer had to strip the brake down to get a piece of flint out.
  19. Looking at the Skoda UK web site and 'Build a Kamiq’ it would seem NOT. There is no sign of the memory buttons just the controls to move the seat. I know this is a first world issue - but we live in a first world country! We have electric drivers seat with 3 memory positions on out current Yeti and, like you, find it invaluable when changing drivers. Frankly without the memory buttons I wouldn't pay £490 for an electric seat. Another bit of discontenting at the expense of drivers. I am looking to replace my Yeti but it is difficult to find a similar vehicle with the equipment I want. Now thinking about the new Honda HR-V which is a hybrid driven principally by the electric motor backed up by the ICE for high power assistance. Might not have all the options I would like but looks a good step towards EV without the range anxiety.

T -Cross is closest you are likely to get to a direct replacement for the Yeti. Honda's new HR-V looks like another contender but is a bit bigger. Left field possibility I am looking at is new Honda Crosstar, slightly smaller outside but big inside. Hybrid drive system as well.
  21. Honda ICE uses an to Atkinson cycle engine which is inherently more efficient than an Otto cycle engine. Atkinson engines do not provide power of Otto cycle but are ideal for running a generator to charge the battery or directly power the electric motor. The balance between pure electric and motor assisted is computed to keep the motive force in it's most efficient mode, thus maximizing MPG. There is a video explaining the way it works on YouTube but the Honda power transmission is tuned for max efficiency.
  22. More details of Honda HR-V available on line. Could be a realistic replacement for Yeti while moving into Hybrid technology.
  23. Why isn’t the Honda Crosstar included in the above set of small crossovers? It is actually taller than many and has same drivers height as many. If Toyota Yaris is there I can’t figure out why the Crosstar isn’t. or is it that Honda Jazz and derivatives are deemed "old mens cars" so not worthy of inclusion!!
  24. I don’t think I would be as understanding and kind as you. They did the work they need to repair it.
