  1. In Auto Express this week they state that the Kodiak is permanent 4WD which to me would mean that both axles are driven all the time regardless of road conditions. I would have thought that this was quite difficult without a centre differential. If that is the case I assume that it would apply to the Karoq as well. I understood that both vehicles are front wheel drive until the front wheels slip and then power can be sent to the rear axle.
  2. It will be interesting to see whether mine will show up on diagnostics when I take it in on Thursday. If not what then? perhaps they will let me change for a newer one!!! Karoq 2.0 SEL 4x4 heated seats and windscreen/steering wheel Adaptive cruise control
  3. Just received this from a vehicle engineer. Did not notice anything flashing. Strange. The accelerator pedal on a modern car is actually nothing more than an electrical potentiometer switch that sends a signal to the throttle body. Something is interfering with this. It's not the phenomenon of the engine stop/start stopping the engine then the driver forgetting to shut the car off. Seems to be the opposite of that. I think it's a faulty accelerator pedal switch.
  4. I have been invited to attend Mitchell Skoda Technical department on Thursday. I wonder what they will say if it cannot be replicated. I have tried 4 times to get it to do it again but no success.
  5. I wonder whether this has happened to anyone else with a Karoq 4x4 SEL DSG. Twice in the last 2 months drive has stopped. First having parked in a shop parking area and then moved off to the main road to turn left a minor wait before turning onto the main road, and then no acceleration at all in any gear position and no rev increase even when in neutral. Second time, arriving at home stopped, engine stopped on the stop start system, lever into park. Opened the gate moved off stopped to avoid the dog from then on no drive in any position. Both these problems were sorted by shutting down and restarting. Any thought would be appreciated. It has not been a great problem locally but it be more than exciting on the M6.
  6. You may find this of interest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhQh3IfXac0
  7. Returning from a short journey of 10 miles the fan was running after the engine was switched off, is this anything to do with the DPF and should the engine be left on while the fan is running, is it part of regeneration? As usual there is stuff all info in the manual. Does regeneration take place if the vehicle is stationary.? Is there more info on this subject that is not covered in the manual, which only mentions driving at 70 Km for 15 minutes. Worst car manual I have ever read. Karoq 2.0 diesel 4x4 SEL
  8. And Me. Could not agree more. Perhaps we should produce it.
  9. What the new show needs is a much more information regarding driving in the UK. A mixture of Top Gear, Tomorrows World and a magazine section. There are around 40 million licence holders in the UK and the reason viewing figures have dropped off is that is very little in the recent Top Gear had any interest for the a vast majority. Driving clapped out cars to some far distant country, repetitive and boring. Towing caravans over jumps, why? There are so many subjects that could be covered. Winter tyre tests. 4x4 vehicles and how to tow correctly. Do I have to register my car even though I do not have to pay road tax as I am totally electric, yes you do and up to day the fines for not doing so have reached 500k. I have a friend that drives 30,000 miles a year never buys a new car and was unaware that first year tax rates on diesel cars are more expensive that the first year with a petrol car. A demo of different automatic systems. How to use the various systems in a car with Haldex 4 wheel drive system. A look at the future of electric vehicles. The current emission testing procedure, and how it differs from the NEDC system and will the new system mean an increase in first year road tax. due to the test producing more emissions because of more driving for longer and at greater speeds. The programme needs to get back to the basics of driving now, and not waist time trying to more stupid on each episode. Some of you will think that you know all the answers but I can assure you having done driving tuition for 15 years and off road instruction for 20 years you would be astonished at the lack knowledge regarding the car they are currently driving especially in the 4x4 world. If you put an early version of the Land Rover Discovery on to 3 rollers and one wheel on tarmac will it drive off without you changing anything from road driving?
  10. Would these be good choice for the forthcoming winter in the hills of N Wales. 225/50/18. Same as the originals Karok 4x4 SEL
  11. Anybody had any experience with these winter tyres. The reviews vary from highly recommended to OK but. Looking for 225/50/18 which is my current size. Unless it would be ok to change to a 45 ride heoght. Karoq 4x4 SEL
  12. Hi Offski. Quite a few tyre manufactures do not make 18 wheels Hankook being one at least not the tyre I would have which is the RS2 which did very well in the AutoExpress winter tyre test.
  13. Am fitting winter tyres this year as last year due to snow and hills. Currently fitted with 225/50/18. 18 " wheels makes much less of a choice. However I have come across Fulda Kristall Control HP2 225/45/18 which seem to review very well coming second out of 51 tested tyres. There were others,Cooper Weather Master for one, but not so highly thought of, are there any problems with the reduction in height from 50 to 45 apart from speedo readings. Two suppliers look favourite - My Tyres and Oponeo Tyres. Karoq 2.0 SEL 4x4 Haldex5 heated screen and seats
  14. In Auto Express this week we have a Mercedes C300de which is a hybrid diesel estate car and is quoted as 0-62 in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 155mph and best of all a fuel consumption of 188mpg and the battery only does 35 miles. It must have the greatest diesel engine ever invented. It would be interesting to know how they manage to justfy that figure. Karoq SEL 4x4 DSG
  15. They are down in the Magazine as Gov mpg. What is interesting is that in Auto Express they are down as 148mpg. As you rightly say, the whole thing is a load of twaddle.
  16. I could not agree more xman. Looking at the new Mitsubishi outlander PHEV in WhatCar they have it down as 160mpg gov. figures. It must be the worlds greatest petrol engine in any car after the battery runs out after 25 miles. Similar in Auto Express with the Range Rover PHEV that is down 101mpg. The whole thing is an absolute farce. But looking at car reliability tables I doubt the Range Rover will travel that far anyway.
  17. You would be quite surprised as to how many have absolutely no idea about how much road tax has increased in the last two years never mind emission regulations.
  18. But only those at the front of the class have heard about it.
  19. An interesting update, particularly the increase in the allowance of NOx emissions under the new testing procedure. From 1 September 2017, more stringent and realistic tests will be used to certify new car models against the Euro 6 emission limits. A new laboratory test cycle known as WLTP (the Worldwide harmonised Light duty Test Procedure) will apply to all new type approvals and a year later, from 1 September 2018, will apply to all new car registrations. An additional, on road, emissions test known as the Real Driving Emissions or RDE test has been introduced alongside the WLTP laboratory test to help make sure that cars meet emissions limits in a much wider range of driving conditions. An RDE test will last between 90 and 120 minutes and take in a mix of 'normal' urban, rural and motorway driving. RDE is being introduced in two steps: RDE step 1 – applies to new type approvals from 1 September 2017 and to all new registrations from 1 September 2019. For RDE1 a NOx conformity factor of 2.1 will apply meaning that NOx emissions in the RDE1 test can be up to 2.1 times the Euro 6 laboratory limit of 80mg/km. Cars type approved during this period will be described as meeting Euro 6d-temp. RDE step 2 – applies to new type approvals from 1 January 2020 and to all new registrations from 1 January 2021. For RDE2 the NOx conformity factor is 1.0 but with an error margin of 0.5 meaning that NOx emissions in the RDE2 test can be up to 1.5 times the Euro 6 laboratory limit of 80mg/km. Cars type approved during this period will be described as meeting Euro 6d. From September 2018, the Euro standard to which a new car has been certified will be shown on the V5c vehicle registration document and the online ' Get vehicle information from DVLA ' service. In the Autumn 2017 budget the Chancellor announced an increase in the first year VED rate of one band for new diesels first registered from 1 April 2018 that don't meet the Euro 6d standard. DPF

Should the fan run after switching the engine off, if so , why. I assume it is something to do with the diesel filter. As is usual with Skoda manuals there is no information.

Cheers Kenny R , that answer seems to make the most sense. Either way, what a great motor!
