  1. Hi Silver1011. Yes they were and the fault codes were recorded. Fortunately the last time it did it was on Tuesday and there was somewhere to stop to leave the engine running so the the fault was actually happening because as soon you stop and restart the fault disappears until the next time. Hopefully if there is a next they will change the car or refund the money. The other major problem is reselling/Part exchanging with another manufacturer, you must tell of the defect and soon as you do nobody is interested.
  2. Yes just tickover. If I press the accelerator pedal the revs increase by about 25 to 50. This is in any of the DSG gears. Pressing stop start makes no difference. The other surprise when in my driveway in idle /tickover mode with no increase in revs available I pressed the off road button and the engine stopped, and restarted when pressed again. When the engine was switched off and restarted everything appears to be reset. The big worry is when waiting at a large roundabout for a gap and the car in front has gone you end up going across at 3mph hoping that not much is coming from the right so that you can stop and restart, but every body behind is sitting on the horn.
  3. Own a Karoq 2.0d 4x4 SEL. Had it for one year and in that time when manoevering or traveling slowly in slow moving traffic the car goes into idle mode . It has done it now 12 times. Been to Skoda twice cannot find a fault. Yesterday it happened in a safe place summon Skoda assist. Back to Skoda again with a couple of pages of faults. Any idea would be appreciated, before I demand a replacement. When it happens on the motorway with no hard shoulder which has been turned into a running lane by the idiots at Highways England it does get a bit exciting.
  4. Since September my Karoq 4x4 SEL DSG reverts to idle mode and then the throttle has no effect on the revs, regardless what I do with the lever. It does this when manouvering. For example, leaving a car parking spot to get onto a main road and stopping to see that the road is clear and then accelerating, if only. All I get is nothing, no increase in revs no matter which slot the lever is in. This has now happened 8 times since new in September. It get even more exciting when it happens and I am in the middle of a roundabout. It has been to the Skoda dealership twice for a full reset and test, no problems found. Now my wife will not drive it and who can blame her. One theory is that it needs a replacement brake switch this was from a VW engineer who said that they are unreliable. I must read up on how to reject a car. It went in on this Wednesday and the same thing happened on Thursday morning. Thought would be appreciated
  5. Karok 2.0 diesel SEL Automatic Sep 2018 4x4. On six occasions since September on moving off from parked the engine will not increase in revs regardless of what I do with the accelerator or the gear lever, this can make things quite exciting if joining a main road and not being able to speed up. After three times it went to the Skoda dealership in December who had it for 2 hours and could not replicate the problem. Since December it has happened 4 more times. Fortunately as I live in an area with little traffic most of the time it has not yet become a major problem because if I stop and switch off and restart then all is well again, but it is not something to look forward to on joining a fast moving traffic road. Advice would be appreciated. A suggestion has been to change the brake light switch as a faulty one could delay the signal to the ECU
  6. Hi Sanqhar If you transfer from Last Destination to Destinations you can then delete it from Destinations but it remains in Last Destinations. Deleting from Last Destinations seems more difficult or not at all.
  7. Having read the manual for some considerable time I am still at a loss of how, in simple terms, you delete previous destinations in the Sat Nav in my 2018 4x4 diesel Karoq. You would have thought that it would have been one of the headings. I know Skoda have an ability to write the most complicated manuals but finding out how to do this is making Brexit discussions interesting. The other thing they should have done is make it ossible to see the whols journry step by step as in Garmin and TomTom.
  8. The best piece of advice I received in the early days was " Never put your vehicle anywhere, where your brain hasn't been earlier" That only works if there is a brain available in the first place, sadly lacking on some occasions. Regarding VWD first line, the advice in Australia for some areas is " Landcruisers Only"
  9. Having now seen the 4x4 piece I thought that it was one of the best demonstrations of how not to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle in an off road environment, particularly if you are keen on getting home again. It was about as irresponsible as you can get. Wrecking the countryside and probably damaging the cars. As an ex 4x4 instructor much time is spent making sure that they understand the system that the car has and make sure that it remains in one piece as it is all you have to get home again. Those two idiots don't help matters one bit. With regards to the irresponsible attitude towards the area they were using, it will just be another string to bow of people who would like all off roading stopped.
  10. It will be crash bang wallop boring as hell. Why can't we have a piece on 4x4 systems. There are so many different systems out there these days all with different names, are they the same or all different. Lets have some off roading at e sensible speed not " who can get round the quickest" It might help to have some on road snow driving, how to do it, should you do it with summer tyres. It might prevent the numpties getting stuck and holding up everybody else and that includes lorry drivers.
  11. That should have read in the 2.0 SEL.
  12. I notice in the 2019 specs for the Karoq that they no longer have diesel automatics. Is there a reason?
  13. According to Skoda engineering the engine does not have to be kept running if the fan is running at the end of a journey.
  14. A sense of humour appears to be missing.
  15. You know how to wind people up. 131.9 diesel NE Wales BP, petrol 124.9
  16. They had the car for 2 hours plugged everything into it and drove around 25 miles. It worked as it should and they could not replicate the problem. They stopped and started again 5 or 6 times, it worked each time. It has not happened again since I have had it back.
  17. You are a lucky lad. What is the price of diesel, this is the fuel used by rugged drivers who go off road?

    SatNav

A little more explicit if you would be so kind. On the Garmin I can scroll down and see each turn or road change that I will need to get to where I wish to be. It is very helpful as it may not be the actual way you want to go, or it might be wrong in a particular place and you know better.

Is there a way of viewing the whole journey on the Karoq Sat nav with all the turns and road changes as you can in a Garmin or TomTom. Karoq SEL 4x4
  20. It is still 1.36 for diesel in NE Wales even after I threatened them with a damn good thrashing.
  21. What is the diesel price?
  22. That is interesting but it does not answer the question, why is it that petrol has come down so far and diesel has remained. Prestatyn Tesco the difference is 11p. A barrel of oil is down from 83dollars to 65 and diesel has not budged
  23. Went to fill up the 2.0 diesel 4x4 Karoq to day and was very surprised, having seen the oil price come down to 65 dollars a barrel and petrol follow it down that diesel has not moved and is now 10p a litre more than petrol when 2 weeks ago the difference was only 3p. What is occuring apart from a rip off. It is also interesting to note that since the hype over diesel fuel in cars only of course, and everybody was advised to buy a petrol vehicle we have seen the first overall rise in CO2 emissions.
  24. Charging while braking, some might but not the Range Rover PHEV for one. 30 miles limit and then 25mpg unless you stop and recharge. Totally useless
  25. As the Hybrid vehicle is now with us it is interesting to note that the financial benefits from the government which actually is us, have been stopped, the reason given is because so many have been bought. That would be one reason. However, there might be another and that, is according to a survey , many companies have bought these vehicles because they were cheaper and have other benefits as well, such as no problems with the congestion charge, lower income tax ect. If you are running a company car you would have a fuel card so what would be the point of spending time charging the battery, and if you are a busy rep then you do have the time to spend charging the battery. Many cars in this survey were found to have the charging cable still in the plastic box it came in and unused. This means that there are many cars on the road producing the same mount of emissions that I do and paying a fifth of the road tax.
