    yeti mpg

I think it can be very economical if you drive like a saint and don't live near hills. Once you start getting a move on the fuel consumption gets distinctly average.

    yeti mpg

Getting about the same as you with my 1.2 DSG best I've had is 37mpg.
  3. Unfortunately there is too large a demographic buying the Yeti, lots of humourless people, the same as happened to motorcycles, time was you would all wave to each other now there are so many weekend bikers who are so far up themselves to wave to total strangers.
  4. You can drop one of the seats and put the cage in lengthways, the dog can get in through the back door and you can either leave it there or try to push it back into the boot and reverse the process at the end, probably easier to let the dog sit in the cabin though.
  5. I had the same experience with a cage, but I think it depends on the size of dog, tried it with our medium sized cage for a Staffie and it had to go widthways so he couldn't get in either of the doors and I'm not about to try to lift him in the cage as he's 24 kilos so he tends to keep the kids company in the back seats.
  6. I use White Dove in Cardiff, 1/2 mile from my office service seems ok so far but will let you know.
  7. In the write ups Top Gear usually say that the cars have to go back - indicating that they go back to whoever supplied them , probably as part of a test fleet. As to the magazine itself, I don't think it can really be compared to the tv show in that there is more factual information on test drives etc. but it is more off the wall so to speak in it's approach compared to other car mags in that views are often based on personal impressions rather than raw data as in What Car and the like hence the reason the Yeti comes out so well , the feature reviews are more like stories involving the car rather than about the car and I think more accessible to non petrol heads. Perhaps this is why the sales are so good. Mark
  8. Had a similar problem during the cold snap but it was usually the day after a shopping trip or similar when my eldest son stayed in the car and it misted up so I put it down to that, also thinking about it there always seemed to be a puddle on the drivers rubber mat from the snow melting off my boots.
  9. Changed my front Goodyears at about 13-14000 there was still a few mm left but winter had struck so wanted some tread depth.
  10. Tell me about it, I work in Canton and visit all parts of the City but we went almost nowhere due to the state of the roads, I live in the Bridgend valleys and our roads are much better. Mark
  11. Looks like some of the roads around Cardiff
  12. Saw 2 today in Cardiff, a Muscovado Yeti with personal plates on Cathedral Road which I later saw parked on the side of the road by Radyr so I assume it's Glamorgan. I also saw a red 60 plate yeti in the Leckwith shopping park near the CCFC stadium. First sightings for a couple of weeks.
  13. Had the same problem with mine on summer tyres, I've got to get up a steep hill to my house which is a nightmare. It is better than a lot of cars and the traction control has been really handy. I have just ordered some autosocks so I should have no problems now and I am looking at getting some 4 season tyres when it comes time to change. Keep an eye open for a filthy looking storm blue yeti on your travels in Cardiff as I am based in Canton Mark
  14. Probably no bread in the shops anyway, 2 days supply went in a morning in our local shop.
  15. 31 mpg sounds about right to me usually get 380 to a tankfull
  16. Saw a few Jukes' around lately, certain colours don't suit it especially the lighter ones but grey looks good as does red. Also saw a Countryman the other day, which looked quite nice, but still prefer the Yeti.
  17. Off topic slightly but the word " Welch" was used by 2 now amalgamated Regiments in the British Army - the Royal Welch Fusiliers and the Welch Regiment so perhaps not quite so archaic seeing as it lasted until 2006
  18. Once I got used to it my 1.2 was ok, better than my Galaxy anyway. After yesterday's adventures on my snowy hill, I think that I may have it sussed to an extent. I went out on frozen, icy snow this morning and found I could take the hills easily as long as I took a run up, the asr means that you can use the throttle without having to worry about wheelspin. if I bogged down, only once getting into the drive I turned off the asr and wheelspun it up easily enough. I did have a few problems trying to take hills straight from a junction as they were very icy and ended up slipping back sideways towards the main road. It was just a matter of finding the smallest incline and hitting it right. For the record my tyres are standard goodyears with 13000 miles on them and about 2mm on the fronts so they need changing. Mark
  19. Have you tried Celtic just off Penarth Road or there is a small tyre place by the Star Centre in Splott or as a last resort there is a tyre place in Tudor Lane Riverside that would probably do it, park down there long enough they will remove your wheels too.
  20. First dose of snow in my DSG, tried getting up the hill to my house, there are a few junctions on it too and the traction control got me most of the way but it failed on the last bend, ended up turning the traction control off and wheelspinning it up the last bit. I know winter tyres would help but I have a budget. To sum up the traction control is ok but on slippery hills you might need to try turning it off. Good luck all you Yeti- ists. Mark
  21. Just noticed at the bottom of the PDF Johann posted that mobiles on the 3 network wont work with the bluetooth on the Superb is this a different system to the Yeti as I am on 3 and my phone works ok on bluetooth.
  22. I've done 12000 miles in mine now and absolutely love the engine, the fuel consumption is about 33 mpg ish but it is fun to drive with the engine perfectly adequate at the British speed limits and lovely and smooth even above them. I find the DSG can get caught out when around town as it seems to go into the highest gear possible as soon as possible, At motorway speeds I find kickdown only produces relatively sedate acceleration for overtaking but it isn't anything dangerous and the Yeti's relative quietness makes it seem as if it is going slower than it is anyway. As for power I am not exactly small and it can deal with 4 large adults easily enough even dealing easily with the steep hills around my place fully loaded. This engine will pull happily from a few thousand revs and I have noticed very little loss in torque after coming from a diesel. Hope this is of help and not rambling too much Mark
  23. It would be interesting to know what tyres people are on as well, perhaps the fuel consumption is linked to them. I have got the Goodyears on mine and am averaging 33 mpg. Mark
  24. Getting about the same sort of consumption as you "retro" no matter how I drive however I found the fuel consumption better on the A roads, 37 mpg on a recent blast over the Black Mountain and around Brecon, this despite fast roads and steep inclines. Given up on fuel economy now and just enjoying the motor when I can. Mark
  25. It's called Yeti tax it is a Volkswagen Group design feature just to remind us that we aren't clever enough to get a real bargain and we should have spent the extra on a Tiguan instead which has probably been engineered to use no oil what so ever.
