  1. Here are some photos of my new 1.2 DSG in a rather fetching Storm Blue. Hope these links work My mascot Boris The kids have found a use for the bottle holder type thing Mark
  2. Don't even try it with a Staffie:
  3. My Galaxy used to literally fire the water off the side of the windscreen when at standstill, once caught the person serving at a McDonalds drive through with it. Hard to keep a straight face though.
  4. The DSG runs about 2300-2500 at an indicated 70mph too.
  5. I had a Galaxy which has a lot of the same parts and the silvering was peeling off the buttons on the fascia, the handbrake which looks amazing looses its end caps when it is knocked eg a child putting their school bag over the console and catching it, the chrome on the reverse lifter on the gear stick flaked off and the power steering needed reprogramming. I have a friend who has an S Max and they have the same problems with the buttons. It was however brilliant to drive and had loads of space if you do get one go for the 2 litre diesel its a gem.
  6. DSG is lovely, it is about £1200 dearer than the standard car but it does have the ESP and Hill Hold Control as standard, it is only available with the 1.2 petrol engine, just got mine on Thursday and I am very impressed.
  7. Probably not, looks snug for 3 with just a booster seat. Think twice about getting an S-Max the build quality of the cabin is atrocious but it is a great drive.
  8. But reading the pdf version gives you something to do whilst waiting for your car to be built and saves valuable driving time when you finally get it
  9. Just picked up my DSG yesterday, coming from a diesel Ford Galaxy and never having driven an automatic before I found it a strange experience not needing to use the clutch for anything. The gear changes were mostly un-noticable unless you looked at the rev counter, except when I accelerated briskly from a 70mph cruise on the motorway which seemed to catch the gearbox unaware briefly before dropping 2 gears and picking up. This may well be down to my not being used to autos or just my driving style. Overall I am really impressed by the car although after the masses of space in the Galaxy it is comparatively small inside and it took a while to find my ideal driving position, however my being rather large doesn't help. There are no rattles or squeaks inside and the ride is brilliant with the only road noise being over the scabby patches on the dirt tracks they call roads and motorways in this area and certainly no louder than my previous car. I am really looking forward to putting a few miles under its wheels in the next few weeks.
  10. Krooked remember the 1.2 tsi manual has been going for a while they only started building the DSG's in February and it seems the first rhd batch was only built mid march it will be worth the wait mine has taken 16 weeks from order too and I have been biting my nails hearing about the others getting their cars the past few weeks. I still won't believe it's here till I pick it up tomorrow. Even at the end of April it will be a rare beast and it's only 2 weeks to go.
  11. Picking up my DSG tomorrow, ordered at the end of December, build week 13, works out as a 15 week wait, not bad really since they didn't start building the DSG until February. Mid May does sound like a long wait however, bearing in mind the other deliveries posted on the site I would be asking the dealer some questions like when they put your order in. Good Luck Mark
  12. Sooooo looking forward to posting about my Yeti finally. It's my first auto so that part will be all new but I do about 24000 miles a year so it should get a fair workout.
  13. Picking up my DSG on Thursday afternoon, it's been a long time coming but I'm sure it will be worth it.
  14. Sat navs are really good especially around cities but you do need some common sense when using them, when I first had mine I checked it out on roads that I knew well to see how reliable it was. I still check out long journeys on a map, either online or paper just to get an idea of the roads but I have to admit I only bought mine as it has a speed camera database.
  15. Possibly there is also not enough advertising revenue from Skoda in comparison to Peugeot and Nissan, or am I just being cynical?
  16. Mine was due for build the week after you so hopefully it was in the same shipment.
  17. Interestingly some of the photos used are from the Top Gear Car of the Year article, I recognise the dinghy on the roof.
  18. Found these reviews whilst trawling the web, don't know if they have been posted before, if so my appologies Mark AA car reviews Car Pages
  19. So which one of the onlookers is you Lady P?
  20. So the Yeti came last hardly surprising from What Car and I think I pretty much predicted the result in a previous thread when I heard about the test. What Car seem to have their own agenda for testing, rating company car tax and leasing rates very highly but as said previously they are very inconsistent, Perhaps they are after some long term test cars from Peugeot and Nissan and are creeping a bit. I read the write up in Top Gear when they gave it family car of the year no mention of wind noise or Diesel rumble just commenting on its character, build quality and American reactions to the car all very positive.
  21. And if you glue a handle to the back you can push it like a wheelbarrow when it breaks down.
  22. Saw Reliant Robin racing at Monster Jam last year, even more bonkers and entertaining than the Autograss there. Mark
  23. Better still get your other half to open the boot Lady P then the dirty hand worries will be over, I know for a fact that my other half will be doing just that.
  24. Looks just like the What Car review but much prettier.
  25. Hopefully my Elegance DSG is keeping it company it was supposed to be built last week, fingers crossed. Mark
