  1. If they can't fix it they'll send it to VW! I guess this is Arnold Clark in Inverness. They are my 'local' dealer too but I'm afraid my car is going back to the supplying dealer near Cambridge to be serviced. The recent experiences of a few friends and relatives at Inverness have not been great so I'm a bit wary. Would be very interested in how you get on. Sarge.
  2. I have a FL vRS and I have noticed that when the passenger and driver side temperatures are set to the same temperature the passenger side is always noticably cooler than the driver side. When I adjust the temperature the air at both sides changes, either warmer or cooler, but the passenger side always remains a bit cooler than the driver side. Is this normal or should they both be the same? Any (relevant )thoughts appreciated. Sarge.
  3. Would be very interested in how you get on with sorting this as I have not disimilar problems which haven't yet been diagnosed. Sarge.
  4. My issue isn't quite the same but my maxidot, clock and trip computer will reset to 0 at random. Sometimes does it a couple of times in a few days, other times can go for weeks with it behaving. Has been at dealers once but no joy. Will be being looked at again but is intermittant and doesn't leave a fault code (apparently). It's a bit of a pain! Sarge.
  5. There is also a locating pin. A bit of force will enable you to remove the badge but it will leave a bit of a hole in the wheel. Sarge.
  6. If it's an estate just watch out for the dreaded tyre wear issue. But don't let that put you off - it's a great car. Mine's a March 2010 and I have a problem with my maxi-dot trip computer which is being looked at under warranty and one of the rear seat bolsters wasn't fitted properly so that had to be sorted - TBH garage should have spotted it before I took delivery of the car. Sarge
  7. Great news. Glad to hear you finally have it. That delay must be something of a record! Sarge.
  8. By way of an update. Finally got some money back from SUK. They agreed to pay me the cost of having the geometry check carried out at Audi. It's a bit of a personal success, but it doesn't address the wider issue and I'm still not convinced that the car is right. Certainly, the rear tyre wear is very uneven and exhibits saw toothing and the fronts aren't wearing evenly either. Will soon be putting some PS3s on the back so I'll see how they do. This tyre issue is a real disappointement in an other wise great car. Anyway, at least the geometry checks haven't cost me too much money... yet! Sarge.
  9. Nothing in mine about seasonal differences - just lists 17 or 18 inch and whether part load or full load. Thanks all for the replies. - pretty much tallies with what I expected. Sarge.
  10. Just called my local Skoda dealer to get a price for 16 inch steel wheels, as I was thinking of getting a set to put winter tyres on. Parts guy goes off to speak with technician and comes back telling me that Skoda do not recommend fitting 16 inch steels with winter tyres to vRS and I should use 18 inch tyres on my standard rims. Is this right? Anyone else encountered this? From my reading on the forum I had the impression that 16 inch steels were the right way to go for winter tyres. Is this another case of the dealer not knowing what they're talking about? I haven't checked handbook yet but will do that next. Sarge.
  11. The badge has a single locating peg which fits into a hole in the stock wheel. My new wheel didn't have the hole so I just took a hacksaw to the peg and then stuck the badge on. It's dead easy - I mean, if I could do it anyone could! Sarge.
  12. My steering wheel was mis-aligned to the left from new. The geometry check I had done identified that the fronts were needing adjusted. That adjustment straightened the steering wheel, which is now flat. You can't move the steering wheel round on the splines - I asked Ben at Shark about that when I had the steering wheel replaced. I would be tempted to suggest finding another dealer or good indie to do a geometry check for you. Sarge.
  13. You'll need the wheel (obviously), new controller and some small wiring loom - don't ask what it does, I just know you need it! You may also want to replace the stalk so that you have one without the trip computer buttons, but I didn't bother with that. Ben did my wheel for me - very swift job. You can get a three spoke wheel without paddles but it has smooth rather than perforated leather. I actually prefer it to the stock one and am very pleased with it. It's fairly easy to add the vRS badge from the stock wheel onto it as the smooth leather/ three spoke one doesn't come with it. Sarge.
  14. The drop is certainly noticable but I'm not sure just what it is - I've always just assumed it was 20mm, as per Skoda's advert for them. Somewhere I think I do have a picture which shows the difference between my ride height and my brother's (stock springs). I'll try and find it. Problem is there doesn't seem to be a nice easy way of inserting a picture into the post. I'll see what I can do. Sarge.
  15. Interesting because my brother and I bought our new vRS at the same time and when following him from the garage I noticed the there seems to be a similar, slightly less pronounced misalignment with his tailgate. Mine also has it but much less marked. It's almost as though the bumper is slightly crooked. The weird thing is though that everything seems to fit fine. There are no panel gaps, no bits rubbing. Everything seems ok except for this slight misalignment along the tailgate/ bumper. He was going to ask the garage about it but I don't know if he bothered. Sarge.
  16. I ordered the lowering springs (part no. ZGB1Z3071677) for my estate through my dealer for fitment prior to collection and the springs are red. Sarge.
  17. Thanks for that. I can't pretend to know what it all means but when I compare some of the figures you've got with some of what I seem to have, needless to say there are differences. That may be because mine's a newer estate but I worry that it's because my Skoda dealer perhaps hasn't got the set-up on my car quite right. Oh well, I guess time will tell! Sarge.
  18. Would you be able to be more specific as to where you previously refer to these - I can't find the 'Group Buy' section. Sorry. Sarge.
  19. Despite having my front wheel geometry checked and changed by Skoda, my new front tyres (Michelin PS3s)are showing signs of sawtoothing after just 2000 miles Not impressed. And the rears (original Dunlops) are going to need changing after less than 15,000 miles So not impressed about that either. They have sawtoothing and uneven wear but Skoda say they didn't need adjusting. Sarge.
  20. Thanks for these details. I appear to have sent my original letter to the wrong address. Anyway, re-sent it to John Good at above address on Tuesday and today received phone call from SUK to follow it up. Will update in due course. Sarge.
  21. Wow! I wrote to SUK over a couple of weeks ago and still haven't heard back from them. Makes me wonder if the letter ever arrived. Sarge.
  22. Similar issue to me. Skoda checked them and said the rear was fine but front needed adjusting - which they did. This corrected steering wheel alignment but I'm disappointed to see that the front tyres (Michelin PS3) are again showing sighns of sawtoothing after 2000 miles. Sarge.
  23. I think it's just adhesive. We have one at work and one of the trims is coming loose at the back edge and it seems to be glued. Sarge.
  24. Thanks for updates. I put a letter in the post to SUK yesterday. My issue is more the fact that they agreed for me to get the geometry checked at the 'local' Audi dealer and then after a few weeks said the results couldn't be used because the Audi equipment wasn't Skoda approved. Cost me a day off work, 125 mile round trip and £100 for the check. So wasn't best pleased :( . Sarge.
  25. Alignment check was done and front wheels were found to be out in terms of their toe. This would explain the very bad wear on the fronts. Dealer has re-aligned and as a happy consequence the steering wheel is now properly aligned instead of being off at an angle, as it had been since new. The dealer was going to be making contact with SUK about their findings and I'll then be pursuing with SUK myself. So car is apparently set up correctly now (though there is still some saw-toothing on the rears) but story is not finished! Sarge.
