  1. I've seen a 138hp version of the 1.4 TSI mentioned in an article about the new Audi A3. They would still need the 2.0 diesel with 140 and hopefully 170 versions. The Octavia 3 should get a more powerful diesel than the 170hp version.
  2. The Octavia has multi-link independent rear suspension. Those engines are no good if u want something with a bit of grunt, loads of other manufacturers use the same engines in smaller models. The Golf, Focus, Astra all use higher powered diesel/petrol engines that are also used in their larger models, why do Skoda have to be different? I hope they don't use the 1.4 twincharger as it has reliability issues and drinks oil; they should make a 1.6 turbo petrol to replace it, like so many other manufacturers use.
  3. Looks like Skoda are going down the same route as the Civic and Astra with the suspension. A backward step unless they have a VRS with a limited slip diff. From here: http://www.autocar.c...n-car-previewed Hope this turns out to be wrong about the engine lineup: Here's a spy video:
  4. Rapid is going to be a different model to the Octavia 3. Octy 3 is getting bigger!
  5. Is black alcantara an option that has been added recently? Was it available at the end of 2010?
  6. Is the air conditioning system in the latest VW Polo the same type fitted to the latest Octavia? The reason I'm asking is that I have an Octavia that keeps losing it's air con gas and the dealer keep saying it's because it's not being used enough, yet a relative of mine has a Polo that's only been used once every 2 months and the air con works fine on that. Thanks
  7. If your in South Wales don't go to Capitol Skoda in Newport to have anything fixed. I got charged £79 for a 2nd gas refil on a 16 month old Octy. I'm waiting for it to stop working again to go back and get a refund. All they want to do is check for the dye but as other people have said on here the gas can leak from other components in the system.
  8. I was looking in the Service book where it mentions "Regular specialist servicing of the vehicle by an authorised Skoda Service Partner is a prerequisite for maintaining any claims arising from the warranty". So does an 'authorised Skoda Service Partner' mean a dealer?
  9. Does the 1st service under warranty have to be done by a dealer though? This is what Kwik Fit told me.
  10. It's an older version of the 1.8TSI engine too, as the current one produces peak power at 4500 not 5000rpm.
  11. Just thought I'd quote this comparison site again, as at least it's quoting figures from an independent source. This shows the manual versions, so there's no DSG launch control to get the quicker acceleration times that people have been getting. http://www.zeperfs.c...el2671-2674.htm
  12. So is £1200 the minimum allowed by Skoda towards HP finance? Where does it say that on the Drivethedeal site? Cheers
  13. I need some seat covers too, are Halfords any good ? Found this review: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/251425/seat_covers_tested.html
  14. Is that PCP finance or Hire Purchase? I don't understand how you can get the interest as low as £146.
  15. How much cheaper was yours at Motorpoint? Cheers
  16. Just to clarify, them telling me I have to run it once a week is rubbish ?
  17. I've been in a few CR's, their quieter than PD's but still way noisier than petrols.
  18. Are they right when they keep telling me, I have to use it at least once a week to stop the seals drying out ? The manual says at least 5 mins per month to avoid odours but not to stop the gas leaking out. BTW do you work at a dealer, maybe I should visit you to get this fixed.
  19. If the gas is coming out of the seals, would the dye show up there?
  20. They said there was a charge as a refill is a consumable, I asked why I wasn't charged the first time, he said I should have been. But there must be a fault causing the problem, which would be covered by the warranty but they can't find it, they just keep saying "u must use it at least once a week". I'll leave it on all the time now but I reckon it will still lose all the gas again, I'll contact Skoda UK too. Has anyone else had a problem with their air conditioning where the seals have dried out causing all the gas to leak out ?
  21. You'd have to compare like with like though, either both manual or both DSG. Here's one comparison: http://www.zeperfs.c...el2671-2674.htm There's a 3rd generation of the 1.8TSI available in Audi's, it has 170PS, 320NM torque and better fuel consumption figures. Is this going to appear in the Octavia? Maybe it will be kept for the Octavia 3.
