Ordered my Race Blue vRS Petrol with Sunroof, Towbar, DCC and Heated Seats - I was going to get a Challenge, but couldn't justify the extra cost for options I don't care about. Better to spec your own I think. Went for the 2 years servicing for £159 - would be daft not to? 14 week wait now .... tick tock

Right, curved ball here, I'm ordering the towbar to be put on at the factory, am I right to assume the coding will be done? And will DCC enhance our diminish the towing ability?

Interesting, thanks for that. The DCC is an option I have listed, you think it's worth £880?

I'm now onto another vRS 1 year old like a Challenge but without DCC - but with heated screen. These are two parts I would need to make it match as close to my possible new order .... I can't find any prices online but I'm not used to this.

I have driven one hard, no salesman in the car, he threw me the keys and said Enjoy! It was extremely fast, handled well on corners and was a fantastic drive .. not sure how long you had in one? I know extras add diddly to a car, makes it more desirable over the standard specs, but doesn't worry me as I keep them 10 years.

Thanks for that ... they are pretty minor. Of course the colour coded spoiler (in my eyes) looks better on the Race Blue that I suspect a Black one would - I'm assuming it's metallic black like the mirror covers? Yes, that's what I understand - the Manuals are just what is in the UK anyway - DSG's can still be factory ordered. Thanks.

I see ... well 11 to 14 weeks wait I have been quoted to build my choice of options. Which is slap bang on the Brexit date - and I can see a knee jerk reaction of tariffs being slapped on most things and me getting caught up in it all.

Would WLTP add 10% to the price?

Spoken with Dealer, still taking factory orders ....... new fly in the ointment - BREXIT! Because the car will not be ready for 14 weeks, and a no deal may happen in 12 weeks, import tariffs will add 10% to each car from the EU! GREAT! They say that I can pay the 10% or cancel my order - I asked about my deposit, they said I would have it refunded (I'm not convinced about that, but that's what they've said). And, yes, the configurator is for MY19 - not MY20. It seems no one can show me what the changes are ... so not sure how anyone can say they are minor. I would say a black spoiler is major.

Is it a black spoiler then? Would make sense them to just produce a lot of black spoilers instead of colour coded.

Dealer says that they haven't been told to stop factory orders - and they get updates every Monday! Do they shut for the summer where the Octavia is built? And, Kenai, could you link me to the MY20 Specs you've seen please? Mine may be the very last off the line - or I may get the MK4?

Hi All On the verge of ordering a vRS Octavia. Skoda brochure states that any car ordered after June 2019 will be a MY20 car and have that spec. - but I can't find that spec anywhere. What they seem to have done is remove the colour coded spoiler, instead it will be black ... not sure about that! I was going for either a Superb 280 Sportline Plus at about 1 year old and 6,000 miles or a Challenge vRS Octavia ... the Superb is blindingly fast and 4x4 too, it's got lots of toys and a Pano Roof ... it's £28k and I would have to get a tow bar put on it. The Challenge 'extras' were not of great value to me other than the DCC and Heated Seats ... I don't like the wheels and the other additions don't fire me up. But good value overall at about £26k. Add a sunroof and it takes it to £26.9k So, back to a vRS and spec it up to what I fancy ... DCC, Heated Front Seats, Sunroof, Towbar, Race Blue at £25k ... but I suspect that this base model has been down specced to make the Challenge look better value? So, would like to see the spec of a MY20. Usually the 'run out' model has everything thrown at it - seems not with Skoda?!

There is apparently a way to check if a car has trailer prep - a code in the boot? Something like PD7? I have looked as some say it's on the boot floor, there is a white paper sticker on the underside of the floor with numbers on - is this it? Anyone got a photo with this code on so I can know what I'm looking for?

Thanks to all for their comments ..... is the best Carwow figure the very best that can be achieved through the dealer network if I go in alone - ie, without the huge buying power of Drive the ... ? Anyone haggled the Carwow price down? There's £1000 difference, enough to spec a sunroof and pay for 2 years car tax!

Anybody done this? I clicked Trailer Preparation and then Towbar - it removed the Prep which was a useful saving of £180! That makes me think the £570 for the Towbar includes the electrical prep work too. Thing is, the prep simply runs the wires from front to boot, no mention is they fit the final section to an electrical plug by the tow ball? If they did surely they would ask whether 7pin or 13pin? So, my question - anyone specced this and what did it come with? To get a towbar and electrics fitted at a Skoda Dealer as an after fit is over £1,000 - due to the work required doing the trailer prep.

I see .... I don't care what my credit rating is after I cleared the deal to be honest, I'm too old to need loans or mortgages now.

There's only 2 big Skoda dealers I can think of who may be able to swing deals with Skoda and that's Marshalls and Simpsons - I bought my Subaru Impreza from Simpsons Swindon 20 years ago! Keep us/me posted how it all pans out ...

I see, I thought they could charge you the daily rate of interest during the 14 days - but can charge up to 2 months interest if outstanding balance cleared after the 14 days. My point is, why leave £100 balance? Why not just clear everything within 14 days? Puzzled to the reason? What if they have a clause which says if you cancel you must repay any incentives?

Ref Drive the Deal ...... I'm not happy having someone drive my new car to my home, can you collect? Or have it low loaded? I'm guessing these places are in the Midlands area?

Thanks for this. I don't think the tow bar comes with any electrics from the factory, just the tow prep? Any negatives to drive the deal? What advantage is there in paying the finance off, bar £100, then clearing the whole a month later ...... why not the full straightaway? Does the DCC on the Challenge affect towing?

Cheers, it's odd some adverts which say (2017) show the car with 4 headlights? The folding mirrors are not on the new cars - which I find mad .... normal cars 10 years ago had them as standard! It seems to me that the options/standard spec changes regularly and the Dealers simply don't always know what they've got. Was the 245 with black exhaust tips known as the Edition? I'm getting lost with all the options - Japanese cars just come with one - everything! Is the Challenge worth trying to get?

Thanks for that - what were the facelift changes as I am struggling to see what the changes are?
