  1. Looks like it’s the sump plug if you can’t see any oil higher up that’s running down. I always fit a new sump plug when I do my oil change. There are about £3 from Skoda with washer and the washer doesn’t come off the bolt. By the colour of the plug I guess it hasn’t been replaced for a while. would be worth checking it’s tight before you go much further, won’t be the first time I have seen them left loose. oil wise stick to an oil that’s compatible with the book. Not sure where you had it serviced or if it’s on variable service or fixed. by the look of it you have a petrol.
  2. Hi I got Blistein b4s. It’s worth ringing them up got a better price than website.
  3. Hi just changed my rear shocks I went for blisten b4, mine is a diesel vrs estate I got the number off the sticker on the side of the shock to check compatibility, mine had nearly done 60000 on a 67 plate. They are really quick to take off, 2 bolts at top 1 on the bottom all accessible after popping the wheel off, mine were knackered, no leaks very slow on rebound and a dead point were they did nothing. mine skipped a bit when cornering and hitting a pot hole or drain cover. getting four wheel alignment done helps. I guess yours isn’t on multi link rear end otherwise check the stay bars got my shocks from Demon tweeks £ 40 each + £7 delivery
  4. I have left mine out and also blanked off the hole in the inlet pipe which runs across from the left to the air box across the top of rad. You can buy the clip in plastic part. mouse filled mine full of sunflower seeds 😕
  5. You can normally hear when it’s doing a regen. Exhaust note gets a bit more throaty and the revs stay at 1000 when you stop at a junction. if I twig it’s doing a regen I do try and keep the revs above 2500. you maybe expecting a bit to much driving up the hill in 6th, it certainly isn’t the most economical way, ignore the change change selector on the dash drop down a gear. I tend to be in 4th and change up to 6th when I get to the top on A roads, motorways just leave it in 6th mine will pull hard in 6th at 70
  6. I have had 2 vrs diesels, neither have ever slowed down on a steep hill I chicken out first. The 15 plate I had pulled better in 3rd than forth and my current one 67 plate goes better in 4th. I do find mine runs better after a good run to Cornwall (220 miles each way) much more responsive afterwards. I service the car myself, make sure you change fuel and air filter as well as use the correct oil ( my local Skoda dealer does a service kit at a cracking price) , don’t follow maintenance schedule, if it’s been stood for a while it may have been doing a regen at the time. I have also noticed a white puff from my exhaust when I lift off the power and coast going into a lower speed limit, again after a good run this issues goes away ( it’s normally doing a regen when this happens) I do 12-14000 miles per year always use a good grade of fuel not supermarket rubbish. I do put a couple of tanks of V power in a year when I know I am going on a long run. exhaust is as clean as a whistle. I get 50-54 mpg on a long run at spirted motorway speeds 😉 I can get to Cornwall run round for a week and back on a tank of diesel.
  7. Hi, I have done a bit of searching but can’t find what I am looking for. Has anyone fitted Blistein B6 dampers to the rear of and Vrs diesel Estate 2017 without changing anything else. Not interested in lowering or putting coil overs on I am getting a bit of noise from dampers I believe and it’s getting a bit soggy on the arse end, often has quite a bit of weight in. I am running 19” wheels so it’s a firm ride which ok. I am told B4 is a direct OEM replacement and B6 supposed to be 20% firmer. don’t want to turn it into a teeth chatter box. Is it worth spending the extra £100 on a pair of B6s Thoughts?
  8. Hi all, This has happened a few times now, When the car is doing a regen as it comes to an end as I slow down into a 30mph limit I get 1 huge plume of smoke out the back. only does it once per regen not like when when erg valve sticks and you get smoke every time you let off throttle. Not long serviced the car. Recently done timing belt. ( did it before belt change) 46000 miles. not using oil soot level is about 37% in dpf. 2L Diesel vrs 67 plate any ideas
  9. Yes, normally it is the auxiliary belt just drives alternator and air con compressor if the water pump fails it can be very expensive and engine damage can occur. you have to remove timing belt to change the water pump
  10. How many miles has it done, My 67 plate manual diesel normally does 46 around town and between 48-52 on motorway. Just done 200 Mike round trip on M5 today averaged 49 but it was very windy and wet and haven’t done a long journey for a while. I tend to find the next long one I do it will improve again. not sure if there is still winter fuel kicking around which affects it as well. Has it had a proper service recently, air and fuel filters changed. what fuel are you putting in? I enjoy driving mine and don’t worry about mpg if you know what I mean. If I try and drive like miss daisy it tends to go down.
  11. How much tread is left on the tyres. Bridgestones are known to be a noisy tyre. Are the back tyres sawtooth is on the edge. Does it have a spare wheel in the boot. Mine is on 19 P Zeros which are again a noisy tyre and I can get a background hum depending on road surface. I have put a bit of sound deadening in places which helped. A peivous vrs I had I changed tyres to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric which were much quieter and griped better.
  12. Hi I did mine yesterday and used the 7.5 amp at the other end of where you already have a jumper connection. All of that row were switched live on my vrs 67 plate. You may struggle as I see you have other relays I don’t. I expect you have heated screen or seats. It was for parking sensors I believe the 5amp next to it was air bag hazard light warning switch ,
  13. Hi Mine was losing it presets and seat memory position. Got fed up putting them back. when I took it in for service the other day and mentioned it to the service guy he tapped the reg in and there was an update for radio and seats. since then all has been good, even came back from dealer with original stations preset.
  14. Hi, i did exactly what you are asking. I had a diesel vrs salon manual and went to a Karoq diesel Edition 4x4 dsg. Performance wise it’s never going to pull like a vrs does in 3rd gear. But it has a reasonably go at it, if you use flappy paddles in manual mode you can nip past stuff, but need to plan it well. On the motorway it cruises with ease at higher speeds. Being a 7 speed dsg it revs much lesss the the vrs 6 speed. The suspension is a lot softer than vrs The 4x4 is good for nipping out on damp roads and does feel sure footed when pushed hard. Works well in the snow. Mine does 45mpg most of the time. Can get up to 47mpg if miss daisy comes out to play but I do like to crack on where roads allow. It hates short journeys down to low 40’s mpg. cold weather + winter diesel lucky to get 40 mpg. I don’t like the dsg gearbox, never seems to be in the right gear coupled with the latest stop / start technology which likes to stop the engine whilst still rolling at low speed, ( below 5mph) , big delay whilst engine restarts and gearbox oil pressure gets up ready to go. ( always turn start / stop off ) It’s a good car just a bit on the boring side, I have had mine for 2 years and hoping to go back to a vrs. Mine has done 21000 Miles now.
  15. 67 plate, 14500 Miles crappy Bridgestone fitted 2.4 bar
  16. Hi, Normally after the car has been sat for a while and you drive off if you turn the steering nearly on full lock you get a noise from the front tyres as if the tyres are jumping across the floor. Feels like it too. I would say it’s the limited slip diff not slipping when cold. Does it in forwards and reverse front tyres aren’t wearing to well either. Every day when I pull out of the car park I get the same. When car is warm it’s fine. Anyone had similar problems. Diesel 4x4 edition dsg
  17. I thought they had stopped taking orders now for Edition model. As it was only a top spec lunch model. Others call them first edition and run a limited number when lurnching a new model.
  18. It seems Audi,VW, Skoda all do it, it’s the next generation of start stop, i took mine back to the dealer and was this is how they are, never noticed this on test drive. Thinking of getting mine coded out.
  19. Hi I brought a cheap one from Argos, Sakura mesh dog guard that clamps to the rear headrests. It seems to do the job. I have put the rear seats more upright. I did put a bit of protection against part of the Seat where the frame touched just to be sure it didn’t mark the seat. It cost £26.99 visability not to bad either. I have a 18 month old Labradoodle, she has made no attempt to get past it. Dont forget to disable your interior alarm sensors and auto window close if you are going to leave your dog in there if your in the garage paying for fuel.
  20. Typo 150ps Edition Thats what I do already with the selector but would hope it remembers your setting. Seems to with steering. I don’t have the personalisation function on mine.
  21. Hi, Does anyone use there individual mode set up on there Karoq, I like my gearbox in sport mode but every time you stop the car and restart the gearbox reverts back to normal mode. Although it still says individual mode on infotainment screen, I know it’s just a case of flicking the gear stick back and S is selected, but I would of hoped it stayed in that mode otherwise what’s the point. I had an Octavia vrs before but that wasn’t a dsg gearbox and that would stay in whatever you set it to. i find I get much better fuel economy in sport mode unless on the motorway. Doesn’t seem to stay in sport mode either if selected, when stopped and restarted. 140 Edition 4x4 Diesel DSg
  22. If you turn it to auto hold it puts handbrake on when you come to a stop if you push the brake pedal down and realeases as soon as you touch the throttle. you get a green handbrake light on the dash when on auto, expect when you turn ignition off then it turns red.
  23. They are particularly sensitive to reflective material, I had a temporary police slow sign in the road the other night when there had been an accident, it didn’t like that nor bike reflectors
  24. I have an Edition Desiel 4X4 with no spare Wheel, I twisted the guys arm to through one in but because the car was a demo it won’t fit unless you loose a lot of boot space. We looked at another one on site and that had a spare and it has a dish in the boot floor so the height remained the same. under the carpet their is a thin bit of polystyrene 30mm in the middle. The crap pump and goo don’t even go under there. It it looks like a factory order and a totally different rear floor pan.
  25. The car has been into the garage today to see what they think. The result was this is how the second generation start /stop works. They have tested it against another one and had contact with Skoda UK, I told them that if the car had done this when I test drove it I wouldn’t have brought the car. I think a email to Skoda Uk is on its way, how they think this is ok I don’t know. I don’t expect I will get much joy out of them. I did ask them to doctor the system but they wouldn’t, I will have to find someone with the right software near me.
