  1. anyone got any ideas, as to what the problem may be ???
  2. its turbo, just hope its not to serious, think its a pipe or a leak somwhere, no loss of power, drives perfect, apart from whistling noise
  3. ive got a vrs diesel, 2 and half years old, just done 60k, its just started to make a high pitched whistling sound between about 1200 and 2200 revs while accelerating. you can hear it with the radio off, but with the radio on at normal sound level, you can only just hear the whistling noise, my gut instinct tells me its not too series hopefully, maybe a turbo pipe come off some where ???? i don’t think its turbo bearings because that’s a whining sound as opposed to a whistling sound. Also noticed like an electrical humming sound coming from the engine after the engine as been switched off, it only humms for about 5 seconds. What do you guys think?? Just took a extended warranty out today as it’s just done 60k, hope i don’t have to use it......
  4. I had my pioneer in my vectra, it is a superb, easy to use, nice uncluttered looking piece of kit......it has ipod control, you can play mp3's off a usb stick, {usb lead hidden in glovebox} auto answer, Bluetooth phone kit, via car speakers, what more do i need??? its only going to cost me the price of the facia surround and iso leads, about 50 quid max, and not to have the added expense of buying the bolero and extra bits, and also {by reading the above issues.} the hassle of using a bolero.......
  5. got a quote online of £28 a month, so i rang them up, had a chat with them saying my skoda warranty had run out yesterday, because the car has now just done 60k, and i was very interested, keen, eager, etc, etc..... to take out a extended warranty, because they are a good company, good reviews, blah, blah, blah.... and they said if i take the policy out whilst on the phone, they could do it for £25 a month !! i thought i will have some of that..... Cheaper than the online quote and also cheaper than skodas warranty. ive opted for the network garage option, so all in all, im quite happy
  6. just took out a warranty direct policy, £25 a month on a rolling monthly basis, warranty direct sound like a big company with good reviews, seems better than a skoda warranty, i can now breath a sigh of relief.....
  7. is it possible to buy any bluetooth kits that would work with the stream player that i have in my vrs ? was thinking about ugrading to a bolero, but even that needs extra bits and it works out at nearly 500 quid, ive got a double din pioneer fh-80bt which i had in my vectra, which does way more than the stream and bolero do, as it already has bluetooth on it, should i just save a lot of money and put that in instead ? i think that even the sound quality would be better as well, what do you guys think ?
  8. looks like the pioneer is going in, it does way more than the bolero, looks quite similar to the stream mp3 i already have with just the one dial in the centre, and i just dont want the silly prices of the seprate bits and pieces just to get my .phone to work....
  9. what extra bits and pieces does the bolero need for the bluetooth phone to work, and how much would it cost ?
  10. does the car need to be serviced by skoda, to keep the warranty in force ?
  11. yep i hear what you are saying about buying from a local dealer, i bought my vrs from a non skoda garage, probally thats why they want to check it first
  12. i went to my local skoda dealer, and they told me it would be £300 for a 1 year warranty, but first they would have to check the car over, and that would cost £80..... not impressed at all with the charge for the check, do all skoda dealers charge for the check first ?
  13. When you say 350+vat is that for the fiscon ? Rang Skoda up for a rice of a bolero 700 odd quid....... :( Don’t fancy paying that sort of money, just to get my phone to work via Bluetooth. seriously thinking about putting my pioneer fh- bt80 in the octy, it does more than the bolero, i don’t think it will look that much out of place, its a decent uncluttered looking unit, with just the one joystick dial, yeah the bolero looks good, but not nearly 400 quid good.......
  14. is it a touchscreen unit ? suppose you dont how much they are do you ?
  15. there is a bolero unit for sale on ebay, its out of a superb, so i assume it will fit my octy, read on here somewhere that you need a seprate unit for the bt that fits under the drivers seat, is that right ? also how does the bolero sound ? again read on here that it aint too good, as long its not any worse than the stream mp3, i would be more than happy. not too bothered about sat nav as i have a very good tom tom.
  16. ive got a stream mp3 in my vrs and really need bluetooth for my phone, ive got a pioneer bt80 here is the spec..http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/pioneer-fhp80bt-double-cdmp3-bluetooth-ipod-ready-stereo-p-9803.html i had it in my vectra, its a very good piece of kit, does everything i want, just wanted to know how it compares to the bolero unit and if that has bluetooth. the only thing that is stopping me putting my pioneer is, is i dont know how it will look in the dash and dont want to spoil the look of the dash too much with a aftermarket unit
  17. yeah, once i know how to get them on here...... still learning how to use photobucket ! is photobucket the only way you can get pics on here ?
  18. Job done, i now have a colour coded vrs grill, and very nice it looks too! the only trouble is i don’t know how long its going to last, put 3 coats of primer, and a whole can of matt black which was about 5 coats, looks nice but not very durable was thinking of putting some sort of lacquer on to protect it, failing that, its such a quick and easy job to do, it wouldn’t really matter how long it lasted, i would just respray it.
  19. sounds like a good price, does that include wear and tear ? how does it match up to other companys warrantys ?
