  1. 06 Octy 21000 miles, one service, no faults at all. Getting new one next week. Same engine - delighted.
  2. ........as is the local police force.
  3. No, I don't think so - I don't bother to replace the plug, and haven't had a flat yet. So, I'm sorry, but it seems that we are back to square one. As to the beeping noise, I have bever heard this, and am wondering whether it is a foreign option on your vehicle.
  4. I had a hire Golf 1.6 from Hertz the other day and thought that the instruments glowing bright RED were naff and rather offputting at night. I am used to the gentle Skoda green glow. I was less than impressed with the engine which was grossly underpowered, and really struggled to haul the Golf about.
  5. Good Grief - That's a difference in height, between you two of fifteen inches, or one foot three inches! Any car seat that can accomodate you both must be amazing. How many cars did you try before you settled on the Octy?
  6. This is an intersting question. In our Fabia Vrs, the throttle input seems to be quite gentle, whilst waiting to achieve the desired speed, but on our Octy II it gives almost full throttle until the desired speed is reached.
  7. I had the same fault in that my Vrs's battery would go flat after 3 days of not being used. The battery was tested, along with the charging system and all was OK. After a second visit by Skoda Assist, the technician suggested that I do not leave the Talek plugged into the cigarette lighter. Although the comsumption of the device is small, apparently, this causes the cars' electronics to 'question' whether anything has been left 'on'. The system seems to send out a regular message to all of the cars' systems, and if it doesn't get an 'off' message in return, it will keep sending out a meesage until it does. This is what was causing my battery to go down, as the car would never really go to 'sleep'. I now unplug the Talek, and I have not had a problem since.
  8. It may have just thrown a wobbly - they do occasionally. However, if it seems to be working OK, then I would be inclined to leave it alone, keeping a weather eye on it.
  9. That's as clean as a new pin - lovely!
  10. Mine did this and left me stranded on the M3. Check the Fuel Pump fuse, as these are known to either work loose or fail, according to the Skoda Assist man (fantastic service!!) who got me going again!
  11. Mine works perfectly - BUT you have to make sure that the station to which the radio is tuned (when you switch it off) broadcasts traffic info regularly. I.E, there is no point leaving set to national BBC radio 2,3, or 4, for instance, as the traffic info is infrequent (R2) or non existant. (R3 & 4) Dunno about R1 as I can't stand the racket! Far better to leave it to your local staion - BBC or Independent - it seems to make no difference. You can set it so that it will monitor for the last 24hrs or 2 hrs. Its just a shame that my octy II radio doesn't seem to have this function, unfortunately.
  12. Yet in this week's AE they slate the new CR engine as fitted to a VW Tiguan(Stupid name!) as not being as refined as they expected and clattered under load......:confused:
  13. Firstly, the standard issue 1.9 doesn't have a six speed box, nor does it need one. Secondly, The later 1.9's are a heap better than the one you've got. Thirdly, The 1.9 will do considerably more to the gallon than '7-8 mpg'; and as to whether it is more 'satisfying' to drive, well, that's a matter of opinion, one which I don't happen to share. It is perfectly possible to get over 60mpg, something which I and many others on this site regularly achieve.
  14. I also noticed how elegant the car looks from the side.
  15. Glad you are enjoying the car - I liked mine so much that I will be picking up another new 1.9 in a couple of weeks.
  16. I agree: seems utterly pointless, especially when you have a decent set of Hid's. The additional foglight illumination is akin to adding a candle in a brown bottle!
  17. Oooooh Yes, the 'stealth aspect is good, having come from a 3.2 gsi Vectra which looked just like a standard vectra until you put your boot down! Good enough for 160+ mph (according to the police!)
  18. Its an odd one, this. The last couple of cars (Vectra 3.2 GSI and Octavia II) have done this, and I can only assume that it is something to do with the hydraulic side of things (servo?) losing pressure (actually vacuum) after not having been used for a while.
  19. I'd say that that is unacceptable. It also begs the question that if they are that slapdash with the bits you can see, what the hell to do to the bits that you can't. ......."Oy, mate pass us that lump hammer over there - this bumper don't fit right...." :smash:
