  1. Has the car had an oil change and the wrong oil been used? The DPF is viewed as a life of car item and needs inspection at 90,000 miles. http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/technology/glossary/diesel-particulate-filter Their lifespan is dependent on factors such as fuel quality, driving style, use and oil consumption.
  2. A 2013 car (I have a 2013 car) with full service history should have a service book to confirm when services were completed. No book no proof, false advertising ask for your money back and walk away.
  3. I've been looking at the thinkware f750, it's supposed to be better than the blackview. You buy the f750 and then pair it with the X500/750 rear camera. Both cameras are full HD Http://www.thinkware.com/Products/f750
  4. Be careful the batteries go very soon after the MID warning.
  5. Are they the proposed prices post Brexit?
  6. My Fabia Greenline went in with a fault code and the tech phoned me up to ask if it always took a long time to start, yes was the answer, hum that's not normal. shortly after a brand new engine. One of the things the dealer did to determine the fault was to send a sound recording of the engine starting and running to the factory. Factory diagnose faulty engine and a new one had to be installed.
  7. Had the same experience with a Fabia Greenline, in two years of ownership new engine after two weeks, every injector changed on new engine, DPF issue and DPF pressure valve. Changed to a 1.6TDI Fabia that had no issues and I am very happy with my 1.4TSI DSG.
  8. After the dealer having the key for 3 months and leaving the car with the dealer today, I am the owner of a brand new key.
  9. After leaving the car with the dealer today, I am the owner of a brand new key.
  10. I passed a Mk2 VRS in the outside lane on the way into a roundabout. On the way out he/she was not quite fast enough to undercut me and my full car, at the next set of lights I just let the VRS go.
  11. Key has been left with dealer for 3 months and I ring up to see what is happening, Oh we have just (?) checked it and the key battery is flat you need to book the car and other key in. Car and main (spare) key are going into dealer on Friday.
  12. Key with dealer, I have left it a very long time to check to try and make it clear it's the key and not me. Just to add to the problem I am struggling to find the time to get to the dealers when they are open. Looking to resolve the issue this week or next.
  13. Robkernow While there has been a lot of chatter on this thread, very little from you, have you decided on or bought a car?
  14. My key is with the dealers, it's using a battery between every 10 to 14 days. I am using the spare that's over two years old.
  15. I refer to this from the AA (for those around the world who might not know, Automobile Association) http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuels-and-environment/diesel-particulate-filters.html Go down to the section AA experience and you will see " We're seeing some evidence of DPF systems failing to regenerate even on cars used mainly on motorways" they also go on to explain why.
  16. That's a different 1.4 than the ones fitted in the Octavia.
  17. You say your commute is about 25mins each way under what type of driving? My run to work takes 15 to 20 mins to cover just under 5 miles, I moved to a petrol for two reasons, with lots of short journeys not only are you filling the DPF up quickly you never really get the best MPG out of the TDI To give you an idea your 1.4 Pug 0 - 60 is about 15.2 seconds, the Skoda engines are: 1.6TDI 110ps is 10.6 - possibly a little less torque than the Pug 2.0 TDI 150ps is 8.4 1.2TSI 110ps is 10.2 possibly a little less torque than the Pug 1.4TSI 150ps is 8.1 For me the 1.4 engine it is quick and economical enough and a good balance for my driving.
  18. I agree. Also people who buy a diesel need to be aware the DPF is a serviceable item and is viewed as life of car item if the car is driven under ideal conditions. have a read of this from the AA who know a thing or two about cars http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuels-and-environment/diesel-particulate-filters.html
  19. My first car was a Triumph Herald with cross-ply tires on. Back to post. know one can tell how long a car will last. The 1.4 is a cracking engine and should do all you want the car to be able to do, but I would also consider the 1.2 as well - then again you could go nuts and go for a 2.0TSI VRS
  20. Just found this for a 2013 2.0 TDI DSG elegance estate https://www.carfused.com/used-cars/details/1390529, trade in could be around £1500 less.
  21. I agree and disagree, VW Finance, Skoda etc are all part of the VW group. The loses of VW Finance will be offset against the profits of Skoda,Seat,VW etc. The 0% could have always been a loss leader for VW finance but a money maker for VW group in market share and overall profit. At the end of the day I knew all the figures and signed the deal at no point was I told the car would be worth more than GFV. Recently local news said second hand car prices has fallen by 5%, that will impact on all residual values.
  22. Based on base spec using Parker's guide: 2015 new 2.0TSI VRS £24100 on the road price. Car worh minus VAT at 20% £2083, trade in value from Parkers £16415 a loss of £3668 - loss to owner £7685 2013 new 2.0TSI VRS £22990 on the road price. Car worh minus VAT at 20% £19158, trade in value from Parkers £12290 a loss of £6868, Year 1 loss £7265 (VAT plus depreciation), year 2 £3434.
  23. If the car is worth less than GFV so what, it's the way I decided to finance the car. I wil pay the finance off and keep the car another three or more years. From the times "You will also need to be careful about buying a diesel car right now, in light of the impending tax changes set out above. Due to the higher government levies, diesel cars are likely to become less desirable in the coming years, reducing their resale values across the board." http://www.driving.co.uk/car-clinic/advice-diesel-or-petrol/
  24. Another issue to hit diesel resale values is the life span of a DPF, from 120,000 miles a DPF could need changing and will need monitoring for total fill level. Over time the VW gate will go and VW residuals will rise a bit, at the moment WBAC and a like are taking advantage. At the end of my PCP I might change the car it will have around 35000 on the clock, more likely I will buy the car and keep running it.
  25. I have a late 2013 Elegance (SEL) estate, a minor vibration from the B piller,I have power boot and don't get the booming form the boot, front doors hold water until they are open Beware the little 1.4 is a lot quicker then you think, ACC is a joy..
