Really don't know what to do with it.....
DanBoy replied to DanBoy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I'm not too fussed about the ride as my old car had 19's with a Bilstein B12 kit and tbh the ride wasn't bad with that, looking to go for progressive coilovers when money allows as I'm impressed wth the ones my mate has on his S4. -

OEM is the sort of look I'm wanting to do, just trying to decide on what sort of finish to do the wheels and will sort out centres so they have the right logo on them -

I picked these up today from a fellow member on here, just need to refurb them etc and then get them on the car -

It'll never stay standard, I can never quite manage that, my old car was supposed to stay standard and modified everything inside and out lol. -
Well I've had my vRS now for over 2 months, its been a rocky start with running issues which resulted in lots of parts replacing until the problem was found (luckily I wasn't paying the bill lol) its finally driving nicely and now I can't decide what to do with it. Now I don't know whether to change the wheels to 18's or keep and refurb what I've got and just lower it to reduce the arch gap. My old car I was always modifying but this one I'm rather happy with it in standard guise which is probably why I'm having trouble deciding as I want to improve rather than make worse. Heres how it is at the moment. It has a couple of lil dings and marks etc but I plan on sorting them out over time. Any ideas?

Ignition coil - choices at Eurocarparts?
DanBoy replied to jdo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I've fitted bosch ones to mine and they seem to be fine. -
Will a golf mk4 carpet fit an octavia?
DanBoy replied to Rob_OctaviavRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I plan on getting the darker carpet from another Octavia model and then having all the white cloth retrimmed with alcantara as there is no stopping the stains appearing lol. -
I paid £415 for it, heres the link http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avh-p4200dvd.html

What have you done with your cubby hole?
DanBoy replied to Milkybadger's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Well I just use a 160gb ipod, before with my standard set up I could have 6 CD's, now I can have about 20,000 tracks on my ipod always in the car and no CD's clogging up the interior. -

Its a Pioneer AVH-P4200, needed something for my ipod which lives in the glovebox out the way as I removed the glovebox light and routed the cable through the hole. -

I just fitted a double din head unit as no mods were required. -
I took it back to the garage again today so will see what they come back with, at the min if you drive it quickly giving it revs its fine, but if you drive it gently and mainly around 2k rpm it really hesitates when you try to accelerate, throttle body has been cleaned, coil pack and plugs replaced, MAF is no different plugged in or unplugged, when driving on boost it seems to work as it should, its odd lol.
-
I've got the same codes as before 17705 plus running rich and lean codes and also one to do with air flow, although I tried unplugging the MAF but couldn't notice a difference.
-
Strangely the car is running perfectly again, it was the first cold start of the day that it didn't like, but don't know what caused it.
-
None tbh, I took out the standard head unit and tray, the double din cage for the head unit was a very tight fit as I had to use a rubber mallet to gently get the cage in but once in everything was fine just plug in and play took 10 mins tops I'm still running the standard speakers for now but they will be going as they are poo lol.

I've got a problem with my vRS this morning, I start it up and it revs up fine then suddenly the revs drop erratically the car then shakes as I can hear the exhaust rattling away around the front pipe area and then it conks out, now if I try revving it up when it does this nothing happens, any ideas???? now I'm supposed to be taking it back to the garage today for them to sort the car out but its never done this before :( in the last week its had a full set of decent quality coils, new plugs and the throttle body cleaned out.
-
I'm really liking it tbh, I'm able to hide my ipod away in the glovebox as I've got full use from the head unit, it plays everything, DVD, CD, iPod, SD card and has USB's, you can also make you own back grounds etc, still loads I haven't looked at yet, but I'm happy with what I chose
-
Finally got the chance to fit my double din head unit in my 03 Octavia vRS. Was a tight fit but no modifications or adaptors were required to fit it so I'm happy about that. Heres a couple of pics...

Where is the engine number? (AUQ)
DanBoy replied to DanBoy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
It appaears to be a replaced engine, I've been and had words with the garage I bought it from and they are going to finally sort out all the issues with the car, and give me a car to use while they fix mine. -
I'm starting to suspect my car may have had an engine change, can anyone tell me where I can find the engine number on a AUQ engine, its the correct engine fitted as it has the right code stamped on it, but took the cover off today and noticed it has 'Leon' written in marker pen on the cam cover. Thanks in advance.

DanBoy replied to DanBoy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I've just unplugged the MAF and run it then tried it again plugged in, felt the same tbh, both ticking over smoothly etc, do I need to take the car on a run with it unplugged at all? -

Thanks for the info, lambda sensor has been replaced, guess I'll get myself a new MAF. I can see the P1297 code being a pain after reading a lot of threads lol. -

Also just to add the car is completely standard with no modifications, just took it out and it was fine this time but it comes and goes.
