You wouldn't think that I bought the car from a car forecourt less than a month ago lol, and its meant to have been fully checked, serviced etc but since getting it I've had 4 garage trips already to sort out faults lol, just trying to get the car all sorted in standard form so I can start modding. Also been getting the creeking noise etc so after reading its not the suspension I checked the radiator and the bottom of it has a huge amount of movement, so I'm guessing its new mounts time.

Yesterday I noticed the steering was being rather noisey, so I've just checked the fluid levels and was greeted by this.....

Right I'm getting there slowly lol, I've had a rummage in the centre console and I've found the spring and the pin. The only problem I'm having at the moment is getting the spring to stay put on the pin. Any ideas on how to keep it in place??

Thanks for all the pics and help. I've now removed my ashtray assembly and I think I can see why its limp and non moving lol. I seem to be missing the spring and what the spring goes on to. Not too sure how to fix this or whether I'm better off getting a new assembly.

I'm doing that at the same time, just making sure I don't miss anything out lol

Just looking into this really, at the moment I have a completely standard 03 VRS, if I wanted to upgrade my turbo to a K04 turbo what exactly needs to be replaced and upgraded at the same time?? If someone can help me draw up a list of what needs to be changed to make the most of the upgrade I'd be hugely grateful plus it will help anyone else who may be interested in doing the same.

Well I had the car back less than 24 hours and the engine light has come back on :( Does the VRS have one or two lambda's?? think I need to see someone who has VAGCOM and see whats coming up and then go and moan at the garage again lol, had the car 3 weeks and they've had it in twice for stuff so far lol.

This may be a silly question but how easy is it to remove the grille and split it to paint the chrome surround?? Also how much was the badge lol, looks good though

Need some help if someone doesn't mind, basically when I picked my VRS up the ashtray flap was broken so I've fixed that but the whole ashtray assembly doesn't seem to work properly. Is it possible someone could take me a coupe of pics of how the ashtry looks with the flap open and shut, just trying to sort all the niggly bits on my car lol.

Yea Morrisons is only 95 as they don't do super, I recon the previous owner only used normal unleaded which is why it decided to go.

Its on 108k, I was due to get the car back tonight, but they've fitted a new wheel bearing to it but the ball joint is spining, so won't get it back till tomorrow now :(

Thats what I thought, seemed odd, I've only had the car a couple of weeks and only had 2 tanks of Tesco's 99, so can't see that I've done anything to kill the lambda sensor lol.

Was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with Supermarket fuel killing lambda sensors? Basically my EML light came on yesterday and I left the car at the garage today and I've just rung them and they said it needed a new lambda sensor, possibly caused by supermarket fuel, now the nearest petrol station to me is Tescos so I've been using their 99 stuff as I only use super unleaded in it. I'll try avoiding the supermarket fuel if this is the case, was just wondering if anyone else has had this??

I need a bit of advice. Whenever I start my VRS from cold its very very rough idling, then when you try to drive its very jumpy and really doesn't like going, once its warmed up its fine. This morning was the worst as it just didn't want to move, it won't stall but was just very jumpy and unwilling to pull away smoothly. Any ideas what could be causing this??

If I was to buy myself a double din head unit, will this be a straight forward fit? just remove the old single din head unit and lower tray? Thanks in advance for any help just struggling to find the right info I'm after.
