  1. Ask them to take your car as a demo car and see how many cars they will sell then... /Superbjoser
  2. I've owned a few cars and never had this rate of damages before, of course it's the cars fault, who else? That aside it's still amuses me and had given me a more relaxed view on driving. Cool down, turn up the music and ride a long. Launch control is a necessity on BMW 1000 RR but on a Skoda? Not for me anyway. Adding to the list of quirky solutions is that oil stick with a plastic(!) end on it. The only car (again) I had to consult the manual to understand it and that didn't worked out quite well either! /Suberbjoser
  3. Back to the dealer! Try out another car with the salesman and compare. No way it's supposed to be like this. No way. /Superbjoser
  4. Hi! I find it wonderful but a few issues (as always!): Holder for DRIVING glasses in the ceiling is to small... Prone to damages, scratches and so on. In less than 5 months: 1. Scratched left sill (ski boot, this one and the points below never happened on any other car) 2. Left pass. door marked with "friendly neighbors" marks (5 or 6 with a close look) opening their doors against my car. 3. Yet unknown hooligan scratched rear bumper, 1 foot long scratch. 4. Front bumper "marked" by SWMBO:s driving into garage door. License plate just not shiny new anymore. 5. Right pass. door heavily scratched by careless parking (SWMBO again!) without checking rear mirrors. Plastic strip destroyed. 6. One lost(!) rubber strip on windscreen. 7. Probably broken bass speakers on sound system. And for some strange reason I'm still happy with the car!?! /Superbjoser
  5. Hi! For me it was a No Go. Its definitely a nice, light comfy option but there was at least two drawbacks to it as well: My dealer got one cracked or should I say smashed into a million pieces due to tensions in the glass while going from cold weather into a warm garage. That car stood still for 3 to 4 months waiting for a spare roof. The other issue I had about it is the big possibility that this roof eventually over time could start leaking. Skoda does not have a waterproof (sorry...) history regarding water and leakage so I did not want to challenge my luck on that one. I already stretched it far enough with my felicity interior. (witch is still holding up!) /Superbjoser
  6. Hi! Regarding that message you get every time you stop the engine: I've asked for it earlier but no other answer than thats as it should be and and thats a little snag in the info-system. Nothing to pay any attention to. Or an urge to to read the manual one more time... But seriously, one could expect Skoda to remove this annoying things and that "PLONG" you get every time the phone hooks up/down. Happy new car then! /Superbjoser
  7. Or maybe he will get a Muscovado....Yeti? /Superbjoser
  8. Coming from the Mondeo system I found this better IMHO. For me, I don't need any more info on the display about CC installed speed. It's quite easy to change the speed as well soo... I'm happy! /Superbjoser
  9. Hi! Considered this option (liked the 3 spoke wheel..) but then decided not to. It's a Superb and not a BMW. I'm to old to fool myself with Schumi driving. Moreover, its dangerous for your driver license as well And finally, it wouldn't be much use to me since the only time I would really use it is going downhill using the engine brake on a lower gear than the DSG normally would choose. Since I already got that function on my DSG this option was out. /Superbjoser
  10. Going to be a loooooooooooooooooooooooong friday then? /Superbjoser
  11. Oh well, I think Gizmo68 missed a couple of thing in his short list... * Of course the dealer should have it filled up with fuel for you! * Bring your camera with you, both for your own sake, and for ours! * Let the dealer show you a piece of the car marked with the Audi rings! * Mine came with a cake! Yours should as well... * I had a longer list in another older post that I seems to have misplaced but anyhow: ENJOY the moment of delivery! /Superbjoser
  12. Hi and welcome! First of all, English isn't my native tung so therefor I might get your question wrong here but why do you want to fiddle with the rain sensor? To answer your question I doubt that Skoda has developed another solution for the rain sensor since they already have it in the house (VAG-group) so to speak. But others may know. /Superbjoser
  13. I've read somewhere that the turbo and the water pump are what differs when it come to mechanical components. Whether this is true I really can't say. /Superbjoser
  14. Where are they fitted as standard you say? On what models? And since when? To me it (Webasto) was the most costly option on my car (still worth every penny), and don't tell my SWMBO about it... /Superbjoser
  15. Sorry for the OT, but I have to disagree a little bit here! Are your seriously implying that not finding out about a cars weaknesses is good? Do they (TV) hate Mercs and BMW:s as well? Both of'em have a history in that publication. To me this is good! Find the problem and work them out and make a better product for the better of us all. And the part of being nationalistic... oh, well, where do you find a perfectly objective car magazine? Czech Rep? Every editorial offices at the car magazines are stuffed with people that have a passion for cars. By that they also by default are biased in one way or another. A good reporter is aware of it. A not so good denies it. But thats just me and my 2 p. OT off. /Superbjoser
  16. My experience is that a somewhat sporty driving with high rews can make a difference(!). First case was a drive with my boss car. That was a petrol engine turbo that I drove a bit aggressive, not endangering anyones lives and security of course. At the time my boss didn't like it so much but he told me later that his car had been much more fuel efficient after that trip so he forgave me my "spirited" driving. My second case is my current Skoda that I drove a bit more aggressive with lately, with a warm engine of course. It's seems to have a positive effect so far, I have to check it up by the pump next time. What I'm saying is that it's probably good for a warmed up engine to work hard from time to time. If this is applicable for you I can't tell. Just my 2 p. /Superbjoser
  17. For some consolation the Webasto heater and the heated windscreen is mutually exclusive, you cant have them both. And from what I've read the Webasto heater add months to the delivery schedule. But why the Netherlands veto this equipment is beyond me. Do the dealers give any explanation? /Superbjoser
  18. Hi! Beware of the attachment points in the ceiling (well shown in the picture) before you go ahead ordering the net. They (two around the c-pillar and two around the b-pillar) are apparently not there for cars ordering without it from the start. /Superbjoser
  19. Hi! Literally living on the other side of the world from TS:s point of view I might have a few findings in addition to yours: * Plastic strips on the outer sill panel (under the doors) gives good protection against daily wear and tear from road growel. * Front fenders (not talking about the bumper here) seems to be made out of plastic. A good thing IMHO, no rust here then... * Fuel consumption is a disappointment so far. Worst ever was a 26 mpg number (rim to rim, no gadget numbers). Webasto heater might have a play in it but thats not the whole picture. A 200 mile trip recently gave me some hope but 44 mpg with 50 kg in the boot, two passengers, and a average speed of around 56 mph isn't that impressive for a 170 hp CR DSG. 1600 miles on the clock until today. * Quite easy to wash of with the exception of the grille and a small area on the tail gate between license plate and the lighting for the license plate. * Rear parking sensors are really worth its weight in gold! Saves me every time... * Ski sack really good! * Can not use safe-net between boot and passengers compartment at the same time with ski sack. Thats not good enough Skoda! * A good thing is the right mirror (for us who are driving on the right side of the road) tip-down when in reverse. * Xenon lights also very good. * Rubber floor mats is a must in our climate. And the are quite good I might add. * Felicity interior is still holding up, no regrets there. * The clock is not easily availably for the front passenger. * Drain water from roof and doors seems to "color" the outer sill panels under the doors. /Superbjoser
  20. Hi! Maybe I've got it all wrong, but I pretty sure they do. It' just further in, closer to the engine department and divided in to three separate replaceable spare parts: Impact absorber front bumper, Bumper rail front upper and bumper rail front lower. And while I'm writing: Are the front fenders out of plastic? Tapping with your fingers on the bonnet and then on the front fenders gives quite another feeling to it... /Superbjoser
  21. Sorry to hear that. Most important is that you and any passengers are OK. Reading your description of the accident, was it 100% right from the behind, no so called offset? In the offset case the car will almost certainly have a body alignment too. Depending of the circumstances that could be a good thing but that depends on the repair work shop. Most likely they will not get it as good as before, sorry to say. Once the metal is bent out of it's intended design it's weakened and therefore not as good as new. Regarding the value of the car, it should have an impact on it. A crashed car is seldom better after the repair than before and that will probably reflect on the price of the car. Just my 2 p. anyway. /Superbjoser
  22. Hi all Briskodians! Since I have been an owner for just about a month I have started to wonder over the low placed cooler(?) intake location of the car and the lack of protection from "low flying" objects (gravel, small stones etc coming from vehicles in front of you). I mean, my older Mondeos cooler was at least protected by a plastic grid or net in front of it. And I've seen what small stones can do to the paint of the bonnet, or the windscreen for that matter. My question: Isn't this a risky design? Have any of you encountered any problems according to this? It isn't cheep stuff down there... /Superbjoser
  23. Hi! First month, first scratch: Rear bumper, 30 cm long, couple of mm wide, down to the black plastic. Ouch! :'( To that add friendly car neighbors leaving their door marks on my car when they open their doors to much. Of course this all most never happened to my old car. I'm gonna get this fixed at a paint shop but just this time! Next one I'll have to live with... But is such a (pick your own word/words here) to have this on a new car, just one month old... /Superbjoser
  24. Hi! What was your reasoning behind the change to a manual gearbox after the DSG? /Superbjoser
