  1. Minor service, new front brake pads and after 2.5 years of fighting with a reluctant electric tailgate, I've finally bitten the bullet and replaced the electric struts with the Chinese copies from eBay. At £196 they are about a quarter of the price of the genuine Skoda ones. Let's hope they last a few years.
  2. I've got the Pirelli Powergy on mine at the moment and have found compared to the Michelin Primacy 4's that were on before that the wear rate is a lot worse. I got 27,000 out of the Michelins and the Pirellis are on 17,000 and are not going to last much longer.
  3. I've got a 2016 150 tdi estate. Averages about 50mpg on local journeys and about 60mpg on motorway etc. These are calculated figures rather than relying on what the computer says
  4. Not sure what you mean by that? That was my none mechanic description.
  5. There was no trace of a leak on the ground just the level dropping with the expansion tank going from full to empty in less than 10 miles. New pump sorted it.
  6. I can't remember the exact cause but basically the pump was knackered inside and allowing water to escape but not externally if that makes sense. Water level dropped without any loss under the car. New pump sorted it although the replacement one had some sticking issues a few months ago but seems to have righted itself!!
  7. Certainly seems as if the battery could be suspect. My stop/start packed up about 10 months before I finally changed the battery. Worked fine when new battery fitted.
  8. Yep same here on cars 4th birthday 110k on the clock so not bad on mileage.
  9. Mine's a diesel. Bought it in September 2019 with 103k on the clock and currently on 146k. Always did around 15k a year but covid and a few other things seems to have dropped it to around 11k now. I normally buy ex-fleet 3 year old cars and keep them for 5 years before doing the same again. This one was cheap at the time as was the finance However with the significant changes in the world and the price of finance and used cars having risen considerably the plan is to keep this one as long as it is viable to do so. Hopefully 200k is not unachievable.
  10. Judging by the fact you only do 5k miles a year I'm guessing that you are looking for a petrol model. Some of the diesels have had water pump issues (general failures and sticking shrouds). The only other problem I've had is the electric boot struts failed after about 5 years. These are £700 a pair from Skoda but copies can be had on eBay for around £200 ish. Other than those minor faults they are a nice place to be Good luck with your search.
  11. June 2016 145k miles which is about 230k km.
  12. Pretty sure in the handbook it's 210,000 kilometers which is just over 130,000 miles in old money or 5 years which ever comes first. Definitely time to change it if it's not been done.
  13. That's a fair point. To be fair, I got another 10 months out if after the stop/start packed up and it only lasted 3 months less than the the two Octys I've had previously
  14. I noticed that my stop/start packed up several months before I replaced the battery. It was obviously not good enough to power it but still ok for everyday use and starting. As soon as the battery was replaced stop/start worked again as normal.
  15. It's not even a reasonable profit. The general guide 18 months ago from Skoda was £700 a pair plus £300 for fitting and coding etc. I will have to bite the bullet and give the copy ones a go at some point.
  16. Plenty on ebay at £250 ish a pair. Not been brave enough to try them yet.
  17. I'm in a similar vein to Gammy above, bought my 2016 2.0tdi in Sep 2019 for £9k with 103k on the clock. VWFS car from new which had 1 owner/driver and had been used by a photocopier company from Kent. Condition was pretty much spot on other a few stone chips and the odd mark. Water pump failed in June 2020 on it's 4th birthday - new cambelt and pump Electric boot struts packed up in March 2021 and I've not changed them yet - will probably swap them for some cheaper Chinese copies at some point Battery replaced this week £250!!! At the least the stop/start works again now Other than that, just a pair of front tyres and rear brake pads and oil/filters etc. Current mileage 137k
  18. My old vrs is still going with 214k on last mot in Feb. 2011 cr model.
  19. Mine was an ex VWFS car bought from a dealer who dealt with VWFS directly. No Kessy and 3 keys. It's a 2016 model.
  20. Mine went last March and I've left it as it is for now. Genuine struts are £750 a pair, with dealer fitting and coding you are looking at £1,000. Copies are £250 a pair on ebay.
  21. I wouldn't worry too much about a noisy clutch release bearing. My daughter bought her Citigo in April 2017 from a main dealer with just under 50k on it and one owner. It was noisy then and it's still noisy now, but it doesn't affect the running at all.
  22. Skoda are £351 per strut I think. I've tried a few dealers/suppliers on line and all are the same price.
  23. OEM Part Number 3V9827851B 3V9 827 851 B 3V9827852B 3V9 827 852 B Part numbers from ebay listings for Superb 3 combi. All seem to have 2 year warranty and are roughly £220 from Hong Kong and £260 from Germany. Not sure what duty would be charged in addition though?
  24. Nick, I've got the same problem and have had it for about 6 months now. Just not got round to biting the bullet and getting it fixed. I've had a couple of garages look at it and other than saying it's knackered they can't tell what exactly has gone wrong. I've seen a couple of other threads saying that Skoda will replace the struts for about £1,000 with fitting and vat (the genuine struts are £700 a pair) but you can get them on Ebay for around £260 a pair.
