  1. I've just traded my 2016 sel for a 2020 sportline and the suspension is quite a bit firmer. Makes for a better ride as the old one was a bit soggy almost.
  2. Yep had to change mine today as they wouldn't put new car on existing policy. £242 in March and £507 today.
  3. If you do get any electric tailgate strut issues, there are plenty of pattern items on Ebay at under £200 the pair. Several of us on here have fitted them without issue and it's a huge saving on the reputed £1,000 ish Skoda are charging!!
  4. Took mine in this morning and unfortunately the slave is inside the gearbox 😞 Not much point changing the slave without doing the full clutch. Had a couple of quotes around the £1,200 mark. Not sure whether to get it done or trade it in for a newer model.
  5. Thanks Stevie, my mate said his slave cylinder was £150 ish so hopefully it's that and not complete clutch although with the mileage I'm guessing it will be getting worn.
  6. Thank you both. I use a garage local to work, so will drop in tomorrow morning and it's only a 5 minute walk to work. Will let you know what they say. It's a 2016 model on 150k so not to be unexpected I suppose. A mate at work has a 64 plate Octy 3 and his has gone with 80k on it, so I suspected it was likely to be this.
  7. Afternoon all, over the last few days the clutch pedal has been sticking for a moment when starting off from cold but today it has stayed down and only come back up about an inch. I've tried it down the road and gear selection and clutch release is ok but gear indicator is showing blank. Is this likely to be a clutch slave cylinder issue? Any help greatly appreciated. I will take into my local garage on Monday morning. Many thanks.
  8. That's a very reasonable price in the current climate for what sounds like a decent car. At 120bhp I wouldn't class the 1.6 as underpowered. It sounds like you do plenty of long journeys which should help the dpf and the main thing I find when they do a regen is to make sure it's cleared before you switch off the engine.
  9. 2015 is the last year of the Mk2 and first year of the Mk3. You'd be better off with a Mk3 as it will be Euro 6 and cheaper to tax.
  10. They should be fine. I bought some ebay specials a few weeks ago for £196 for the pair. Local garage fitted them during a service. Tailgate now good as new, no more beeping for manual forcing!!
  11. I've got a 2.0 tdi 150 manual, coming up to 150k miles. Never uses any oil between services. Was a VWFS lease car on variable services for first three years and been on fixed services for last four years.
  12. Minor service, new front brake pads and after 2.5 years of fighting with a reluctant electric tailgate, I've finally bitten the bullet and replaced the electric struts with the Chinese copies from eBay. At £196 they are about a quarter of the price of the genuine Skoda ones. Let's hope they last a few years.
  13. I've got the Pirelli Powergy on mine at the moment and have found compared to the Michelin Primacy 4's that were on before that the wear rate is a lot worse. I got 27,000 out of the Michelins and the Pirellis are on 17,000 and are not going to last much longer.
  14. I've got a 2016 150 tdi estate. Averages about 50mpg on local journeys and about 60mpg on motorway etc. These are calculated figures rather than relying on what the computer says
  15. Not sure what you mean by that? That was my none mechanic description.
  16. There was no trace of a leak on the ground just the level dropping with the expansion tank going from full to empty in less than 10 miles. New pump sorted it.
  17. I can't remember the exact cause but basically the pump was knackered inside and allowing water to escape but not externally if that makes sense. Water level dropped without any loss under the car. New pump sorted it although the replacement one had some sticking issues a few months ago but seems to have righted itself!!
  18. Certainly seems as if the battery could be suspect. My stop/start packed up about 10 months before I finally changed the battery. Worked fine when new battery fitted.
  19. Yep same here on cars 4th birthday 110k on the clock so not bad on mileage.
  20. Mine's a diesel. Bought it in September 2019 with 103k on the clock and currently on 146k. Always did around 15k a year but covid and a few other things seems to have dropped it to around 11k now. I normally buy ex-fleet 3 year old cars and keep them for 5 years before doing the same again. This one was cheap at the time as was the finance However with the significant changes in the world and the price of finance and used cars having risen considerably the plan is to keep this one as long as it is viable to do so. Hopefully 200k is not unachievable.
  21. Judging by the fact you only do 5k miles a year I'm guessing that you are looking for a petrol model. Some of the diesels have had water pump issues (general failures and sticking shrouds). The only other problem I've had is the electric boot struts failed after about 5 years. These are £700 a pair from Skoda but copies can be had on eBay for around £200 ish. Other than those minor faults they are a nice place to be Good luck with your search.
  22. June 2016 145k miles which is about 230k km.
  23. Pretty sure in the handbook it's 210,000 kilometers which is just over 130,000 miles in old money or 5 years which ever comes first. Definitely time to change it if it's not been done.
  24. That's a fair point. To be fair, I got another 10 months out if after the stop/start packed up and it only lasted 3 months less than the the two Octys I've had previously
