Hi Urrell. Since posting this. Our local VW/Skoda specialist independent has quoted £800 and says they are experienced at replacing the EGR and that with a 4x4 it is a pig of a job. Contacting the franchised Skoda dealer they quoted £2500 - eye watering and obviously didn't want the work or didn't have mechanics capable.

A local VW specialist garage tells us that replacement of the EGR is fairly commonplace as far as their experience goes. Is this so?

Daughter's 2010 Yeti. Local non franchised garage tells her that the EGR needs replacement rather than dpf. Quote given of £1200. Is this reasonable? Any suggestions?

Same here. Goodyear Efficient grips for summer. Exceptionally quiet. Recently put on my set of steel wheels and Nokian winter tyres, and a substantial increase in tyre noise. Nokians were bought as we used to live on a country lane heat could get snowbound however now we have moved to near Oxford and near town so don't need to worry about the snow. Nokians are good below 7° but when these wear out I may look at all season tyres if I can find any as quiet as the Goodyears.

You needed the caliper piston pushing tool?

2010 Yeti. 2 questions please. Do I need a caliper piston wind back tool or can I press the caliper back with pressure as on many cars that I have worked on before? Any recommendations for pads? I was thinking of using Pagid.

Intended to order on Ebay 5 litres can of VW Quantum 111 504/507 Oil for next service on our petrol Yeti 1.2. When it arrived it was a can of Britoil but conforms to VW 504/507. Complained to eBay that title of selling item listed as Quantum so EBay will be having words with the seller. However has anyone used Britoil satisfactorily or should I just return it and go buy a known brand?

We have a Yeti SE that unfortunately came on 17" wheels and 225mm wide tyres. (Bought it because it was available and avoided a long wait and had the general spec we wanted but no off-road button). 1. With some snow now falling, I just wondered if someone on the forum with this same spec of wheel/tyre can comment on performance in the snow. 2. If found to be poor - what have you changed - winter tyres on the 17" and changing each year or 16" wheels (however even changing the profile the odometer would still be slightly inaccurate)?
