  1. I think stability will depend more on how the van is loaded...ie usually, as much of the weight as possible (awning etc) on the floor and over the van axle, but I'm sure you know all that. My old van was nose-heavy so I had to put the awning in the rear washroom which gave it a tendancy to move around a bit. I even had to put the spare wheel inside before I bought a carrier to sling it underneath. Presume you're talking car tyres? Depends what's in the car. If the car is empty then then van is only 70kg on the back end so doesn't need much, if any, extra air. It's always a bit of a guess isn't it, but I was a couple of psi off max with a fairly full load for our summer hols.
  2. Doesn't sound normal. Have you got dedicated electrics? Doesn't happen on my car, although my caravan lights are on all the time with the car's DRLs, but not worried about that. 80kg sounds a bit heavy for me but my old van with the old style greased hitch had a max static weight of 75kg. I usually tow at 65-70kg, and with 4 in the car and a boot full of clobber, I was surprised that the back end wasn't down further when I towed with my Superb for the first time this summer. There's quite a long overhang at the back but it felt slightly more stable than my old Vectra. The TSA is only supposed to work if the car detects snaking, and is supposed to brake one or more wheels to counter the snake. Not sure how this could affect the ATC, but I've never had or experienced ATC.
  3. Pass...location, location, location? It's definitely California...around Costa Mesa. You wouldn't do the photo shoot in S****horpe in winter, would you?
  4. It's the new 'Outdoor' model that Skoda launched earlier this year. However it's not appeared in a UK brochure yet so maybe it's not coming to these shores.
  5. Dave, I think it means that if the dealer was into their next month's quota when you ordered then your order might get delayed by up to a month as a result. However, it might not be that bad. You said you ordered at the end of July so if they were just into their August quota it might not have much effect. You'll need to ask the dealer for a detailed explanation as they see it. As for you trade-in, I'm sure it'll depend on whether you've got a guaranteed price and what any paperwork actually says. If you've actally got a price written down as part of the deal leaving a balance to pay on delivery then I'd expect them to honour it. Depends what it says though. As for your reg retention doc, the dealer will just need that a few days before so they can get it taxed...just sign it and leave the date for them to fill in when they tax the car.
  6. Hi Dave, Have a look at this previous topic ref quotas http://www.briskoda....ta#entry2782616 I've got an Elegance estate and it took 11.5 months to arrive. It's a 170PS DSG both of which contributed to the delay (also have pano roof amongst a dozen options but don't think that's much of a problem these days). I think my biggest delays came from Skoda's quota system (you've just got to be lucky or have knowledge of dealer quota usage) and the engine/gearbox combo, along with some dealer ****ups along the way. My build date went backwards once, then disappeared completely, then reappeared with later build, and they don't get confirmed until a couple of weeks before it actually gets built. Apart from the quotas your spec will make a difference especially engine & gearbox, but it will be worth it in the end. Had mine for 3 months now and love it...still amazed at the DSG box and speed of gear change.
  7. That post was about problems with the hatch twindoor mechanism whereas I think this topic refers to the electric boot option on the estate. Only problem with mine was early on when the lock didn't engage once but it's never happened again since. Car is only 3 months old. I've been very impressed how the car relocks and resets the alarm automatically after you've been in the boot.
  8. No they weren't! Just found another photo location at 33.690718,-117.881894 in Italy. All the photos were of 2 cars (look at the reg). Looks like reg 3291 was in Italy and reg 8547 was in California. Might be a bit nerdy but the locations look interesting and I just want to know where they are.
  9. Have you paired an ipad to the car's bluetooth...I tried but couldn't get it to use the car's 3G internet connection.
  10. Try Skoda's own marketing photos from this website. http://www.netcarshow.com/skoda/2010-superb_combi/ I have pinpointed the location for some at 33.690718,-117.881894 in Southern California so I presume they were all shot around the same area.
  11. Not that daft...it's a mailbox for mobile voice messages?
  12. RUBBISH! Don't know whether mine is AKS3000 or AKS3004 but it's the AL-KO friction pad stabiliser on a 2010 caravan and there is plenty of clearance on my Westaflia detachable...just as much as on the fixed bar on my old car.
  13. It's not possible, although you are supposed to be able to get an internet connection through the bluetooth module if running in RSAP mode. Basically you'd need to bluetooth pair a computer or ipod touch or PDA or something to use the 3G connection. Haven't got around to trying it yet but see page 147 of the Nov11 owners manual (car, not Columbus).
  14. Nothing really happened so I'm busy constructing a letter of complaint to Skoda UK. Dealer was less than useful...all they could tell me was what my car was built with...you know the usual, obvious, 'the world is round' stuff. Ok, it's spherical for those who want an argument! From various posts there have been at least 3 L&K owners who have recently reported having the dimming door mirrors fitted (thanks for the photos, chaps!), and the L&K was always (I'm talking about MY12 cars now) an add-on luxury pack to the Elegance model and the auto dimming rear view mirror was an option on all models (forget what the latest brochure says 'cos that just confused things even more). In another related topic infoschumi has listed some part numbers and reckons that it's a 20 minute job to retrofit. See http://www.briskoda....dimming mirror. It's not a job I'd want to tackle at the moment...don't even know where the door controller is or what it looks like and I can't make head or tale of the part nos...I thought all Superb parts started with '3T' with the 3rd digit denoting left or right hand drive???
  15. How many in the car...if only 2 why not put the back seats down, take the wheels off the bikes and put them in the back...saves you the cost of a rack of any description...aerodynamically economic...safe and secure...if you've got quick release wheels you won't even need a spanner. Hope the weather is kind to you...I'll be in front of the telly!
  16. Was there any conclusion to this. I and another member have noticed the same hazard warning switch flash on MY11 and MY12 Superbs. cheers Simon
  17. I tow 1500kgs with a 170 DSG estate. Just had 3 weeks in Kent and was loaded to the gunnels. 4 in the car, full boot, awning etc (kitchen sink) in the van (usually bikes on the roof but not this time). It was effortless. Coming from a 120PS manual Vectra it felt like the van wasn't there. Believe me, the 140 DSG 4x4 will be brilliant at towing and according to the brochure Skoda rate it as being able to pull 2000kg instead of 1800kg for the 170 DSG 2-wheel drive variant. You'd also have an extra 73kg on your kerbweight over my car. I assume you want a 4x4 for Yorkshire winters 'cos you certainly wouldn't need it for towing. If it's power you want then ditch the 4-wheel drive and get a 170 DSG.
  18. Your right!!! When looking at the brochure pdf online the symbols look very similar until you blow everything up to a huge size. I couldn't understand why the L&K could be different. cheers Simon
  19. Shouldn't be a problem for the 6 speed. Is this a Skoda.cz thing or a Skoda UK thing. I can't be 100% but I'm sure I've seen a 170 DSG 4x4 option available in another country's brochure???
  20. Me too, Danny 57. Even though I'd had a car on test for 2 days before I ordered I was a little worried about all the posts on here about uncomfortable seats. I followed some others' advice, setting the cushion low and tilted up at the front and I am very comfortable. No complaints at all. I don't find the seats too hard but I am approx 16st so it's probably an uneven fight.
  21. Why? Unless you have an aversion to sunroofs. It's brilliant...probably one of the biggest and best out there. Mine has been open again today. The only thing I would like is a seperate option for automatic closing of the blind when the rain sensor senses rain and the system closes the roof. Don't know why Skoda think the blind should automatically close at the same time.
  22. Some big differences in our installations...one is that it's a job that I wouldn't tackle myself so I left it to a professional. The main difference is that mine is finished (it took someone else a morning's work whilst I did something more interesting) and I've just had a great 3 week holiday in my caravan. The weather in Kent was very kind to us this year. My comment about the pre-wiring being a waste of money is based on this...if you do it right and go for a dedicated electrics kit on a Skoda or 3rd party towbar (there is a seperate kit with the extra wire for the caravan fridge) then you get the additional loom from fusebox to rear quarter in with it so you end up paying for the same thing twice. It'll take an experienced fitter a few minutes to get it in but he wouldn't charge you £155 for it. BTW I wonder why the towbar prep is not available with the L&K package???
  23. I couldn't make my mind up about the variable boot floor and dithered for so long that in the end it became too late and I couldn't change the order. I think my subconscious was in control. Much as I wanted a completely flat load area when the rear seats are down, like in my old Vectra, at the end of the day I couldn't see much point in paying a couple of hundred quid to make the boot smaller. So far I'm happy and if I need a flat surface I can rig something temporary. The back seats don't go down that often. As for the electric boot, having had one before, I'd spec it every time. Same goes for auto dimming mirrors.
  24. Hi Mark, Picture looks good and should be useful...I've had similar pictures from another L&K owner (nczernus) showing the same. Car booked into dealer for the 28th so I'll post the results. Thanks a lot. cheers Simon
  25. The factory fit towbar prep is a waste of money, and "having to rip the inside of the car apart to run a feed from the fusebox" is a bit OTT for describing fitting of the extra wiring. The internal plastic sill trims have to come off down the driver's side plus some of the driver's side trim in the boot. Mine has been done and you cannot tell it was ever touched. In fact, with the detachable neck off and stored in the boot you wouldn't know it had a towbar fitted until you crawled underneath. See my previous post in this topic http://www.briskoda....wbar-electrics/. The subject has been quite widely covered if you search the forum. PM me if you need any info. Oh, by the way you cannot avoid bits being removed to fit a towbar. The rear bumper has to come off to get the towbar on...that's just how Skoda designed it. The best advice I can give is DO NOT DISCUSS TOWBARS WITH SKODA SALES PEOPLE! Get your advice from a reputable towbar fitter. It's what they do all day long. Skoda sales chaps know bugger-all about towbars.
