  1. No one actually owns any of the spaces. Basically my two spaces are marked on a piece of ground designed as access to my garage (basically the garage forecourt area is divided between each garage to allow access and I just got lucky). The spaces at the the other end of the parking area are just a free for all Spoke to the neighbour tonight and agreed to let him use the space he has installed the bollard in, since I can't use it anyway and don't need two spaces, plus I'm trying to have a good relationship with my neighbours In return he is going to purchase, modify and install a bollard for me in the other space. All round a pretty reasonable result and everyone is happy :-)
  2. So van neighbour knocked my door at 10 o'clock last night and told me he'd move his van today and I could park there from tonight. Think it's time to start investigating removable bollards
  3. Nope, privately owned van, owned by a retired guy that never actually drives it, but it HAS to be parked there Apparently I haven't lived here long enough to get a good parking space and I should respect the older residents and wait my turn
  4. Well a mixed result really. My neighbour nearly cried when I knocked his door. Immediately offered to take it out or (after I'd explained the situation with the deeds etc) leave it in for me to use the space However, one scraped sump later reveals that I can't actually use the space with the collapsible bollard there, so I've now got some thinking to do. I believe this guys garage sits empty, his Saab won't fit in it, so I'm considering suggesting a deal whereby I get use of his garage and he uses the parking space. This gives me the option of either parking my car in there, or, moving the contents of my garage into his and then renting out my garage which would net me around £50 a month Decisions decisions..... As for the other neighbour that parks his van on my land, I haven't decided how to deal with him yet
  5. Unfortunately there's nowhere I could put a camera that would cover the area. These two are men in their 50's/60's I don't think they're the sort of start vandalising cars. Guess we'll see what he says tonight
  6. Update. Have spoken to the leasehold company, and they advised that the neighbour had no right to install bollards on land that is covered by my deed. They told me to speak to my solicitor and get him to send a letter, along with copy of Deed plan showing that I own/lease the piece of land. He further suggested that I should install my own bollards once his was removed, in his words to ‘keep out those that shouldn’t be there’ I have emailed my solicitor, who is on holiday this week, so i think i may have a chat with the neighbour later on today and see what he has to say and advise him that if its not resolved amicably then i’ll have to take legal action
  7. I'll try and upload a picture later, can't do it from my phone
  8. I can access it, but the area is designed to allow me space to manoeuvre I assume. I was quite happy when they were used as two parking spaces, everyone loves extra parking, however, not when someone decides to claim ownership of said spaces I know this sounds really petty, but there isn't enough parking for everyone trying to use the area and I don't see why people should get away with this sort of practice
  9. Yes it's definitely worthy the aggro, no there is quite often nowhere else to park Fair enough if it was just pot luck who got there first, I could cope with that, but restricting access to a something you don't own is not acceptable in my mind I don't want to turn this into a war, but the area definitely comes under my property, I have the land reg title from January, so it can't have been rented to anyone else They shouldn't be parking spaces at all, it is designed to allow me vehicular access to my garage, the same as everyone else has. However I've a feeling this is going to be a long drawn out process which I'm sure my neighbour is aware of
  10. I'll try and write this so it makes sense I moved into my maisonette in December last year, there are 8 homes that back on to the same 'communal' garden area (though we have our own specific areas) and there is then a shared car park area There are 10 garages I believe as the neighbouring close also has use of it, and 10 parking bays However, two of my neighbours have recently decided to install collapsible bollards in front of what they believe to be 'their parking spaces'. Now one of these I can let slide since he never moves the car anyway, the other though has angered me This guy had questioned me before as to why I was parking in his space, which he freely admitted he didn't own, but felt he had established as his. Anyway, this brought me to look at my deeds, and it turns out that this parking space, and the one next to it we're never designed to be parking bays, the space is actually designated as access space for a garage in the block, my garage, but the other bollard neighbour decided to mark out bays some years ago I'm going to try and speak to the leasehold company today, though I'm expecting it to take months to get an answer from them, so just wondered if anyone had experienced similar problems? I know they definitely have no right to install bollards in a shared area, but if, as if seems, this parcel of land is part of my property (is on land registry title and deed plan) then they certainly don't, and I will move to remove his bollard, install two of my own and take both parking spaces out of use Coincidentally the other bay is used by the first bollard guys second vehicle Anyway, my girlfriend is bored of me moaning about it so thought I'd post here for help As a side note, previous to the bollard installation I was quite happy to take pot luck over getting a space
  11. I see what you're getting at, however, whilst it may be an inconsequential sum of money to some people, I don't have over £200 just sat waiting to be spent.....if I did then it would most likely be spent on my daughter We're also not talking about a small employer that's going to feel significant hardship for waiting a few months. If they are correct that I've been overpaid, then it's their mistake, and they will receive repayment in a timespan that suits me. Also remember it has taken them 3 months to contact me at all
  12. They will only talk to me via email. I emailed them when I opened letter at 17:30 yesterday so 'should' get a response on Monday
  13. Yep ticked all the boxes on that one so that shouldn't be the cause
  14. Nope, spent 3 weeks getting that calculated by HR, ironically to avoid a situation like this
  15. Unfortunately I don't have £220 laying around, yes I could take it from my caviar budget, or reduce my spend on platinum shoe horns....but what would the 'staff' think
  16. That's what I'm not clear about, theyve sent me a 10 column spreadsheet with so many figures on that I've no idea how they've worked anything out. Also no explanation as to why its happened £5 a month might be my suggestion
  17. Oh if they can actually prove to me that I've been overpaid then I'll pay it back, but how long can I stretch it out for, are there laws for this?
  18. Hoping there may be some experience of this on here Basically I left a job in the civil service 3 months ago, I left on the 25th April but with holiday my official finish date was the 2nd May At the end of April they paid me a full months wages. At the end of may they paid me around 2 days wages Today I have received a letter saying I now owe them £220 with a confusing breakdown of how they've arrived at that figure They've given me the option of paying them in one lump sum or contacting them to arrange a payment plan Up to now I've just asked for an understandable explanation or the figures but where should I go from here? My dad has dealt with similar situations in the private sector and in his experience the employer will never take action as its not worth the hassle or expense but I'm not convinced it'll be so easy with the government as an employer Any thoughts/experiences welcome
  19. Well I've bought an fm transmitter for now, I don't do huge mileage so didn't really want to spend the better part of £100 just to play music from my phone
  20. Website keeps crashing on me. I was hoping there would be a simple single lead option for not a lot of money. The previous owner had an x-carlink setup but they're around £80
  21. The manual says it's an RNS DX unit, it was the sat nav option on the car when new There seem to be various different options and I'm not sure which is the correct one Anyone?
  22. Hi I'm looking to buy something similar to the above, so that I can connect my iPhone via aux cable to my sat nav head unit in my '05 plate Fabia Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy one today, rather than ordering online, and also will I need specific tools to remove the head unit?
  23. After 13 years and around 22 cars and 4 bikes I can't really be bothered to type them all out. Longest time I've owned a car is 2 years, shortest is 21 days, have had another couple for less than a month each as well
  24. I think the price was very good, definitely shouldn't have asked more :-p
