My last car looked like that. Not as bad as yours though. I just lived with it. I think you’ll struggle to get a sticky pad to hold it. The mud flap fitting is forcing it away from the body.

Some will say that you’ll be absolutely fine. Go forth and enjoy. Others will say that you need at least a 190 diesel. Your caravan dealer wants to sell you a caravan. After sales towing will be your problem. I don’t tow these days, but in the days of towing kart race trailers, I never complained of having too many horses at my disposal. I think Top Gear drivers are “personalities” rather than competent drivers. i.e. a bunch of complete ****s. ever since Clarkson et al ****ed about round airfield tracks in any old super car. Some of the sloppiest driving ever seen on the public highway though.

I’ve made some progress by following a link in the speed notice eMail to Skoda-Connect. Had to re-do a password and have found more info displayed via web link than I can see via App. Strange. I’m not happy that Skoda, like all other suppliers, want to bleed us dry at every turn, so as soon as I can clean things up I’ll walk away.

Thanks for the video tutorial. I probably played with ŠkodaConnect on day 2 in March. I remember setting speed limits. But - now my ŠkodaConnect app only shows me “Garage” and “Settings”. Garage shows me exactly how many miles are on the clock and fuel consumption. Settings are simply Units, Security, etc. There’s nothing else. A link to MySkoda App leads to a blank system which is asking me to register my VIN, set a favourite dealer, etc. Can’t be arsed with any of that. I’m puzzled as something seems to have been erased or not set up properly. I have no long term interest in the Apps, but I do need to find the speed settings to erase them and avoid endless emails telling me the car was “exceeding set limits”.

My car has reached a whole 160 miles since it left the factory. 10 weeks mostly idle at my door. Somewhere in the bowels of the playful (pointless) APPS I foolishly set a speed limit warning to try things out. Set to a mind blowing 60 mph as it happens. So not surprisingly after a short Click & Collect trip today I happily exceeded 60 mph and returned home to find numerous eMails pointing out exactly When the Big Red Bear (yes that what it’s called in the App) :Speed limit exceeded. For the life of me I can’t find the settings to switch them off and throw the APP away. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’ve been distracted by the MySKODA App and that hasn’t helped.

I’ve changed batteries on previous cars without a wrestling (and swearing) match. I’ve also read the useful Key Fob threads in the Octavia page, but my key fob internals have a different layout. Having seen the Low Batt message a few times on the dash in recent weeks I decided to open my 3 fobs and select the best battery for my No.1 key. Expecting all 3 to last another month till departure day. So I did RTFM. Surprisingly, Fob 1 opened up without much difficulty, but no way could I get 2 and 3 to open. Brute force in the wrong place of course was going to break something (expensive). With hindsight I’m not really sure how I managed to pop No1 first time. Long story short - there’s a very special location for a narrow bladed screwdriver (or ex-screwdriver in my case) to slide up a “ramp” inside the fob and pop one end of the cover and allow it to be prised off without damage. The manual simply says “stick a screwdriver in and turn it” without providing the vital clue regarding precise location. No chance. All is revealed, literally, when you get it open.
