just a curiousity question....does the every mod fool the ecu into thinking the fuel is cooler or hotter..??...some say one ..some say the other! from my reading of different threads that question for me at least is not to clearly answered! Mod's Note: The thread title has been edited in the light of subsequent posts to make it clearer what this modification is, ie a variation of the resistor mod to increase engine power by increasing fuelling. A character by the name of Evry developed this version.

the man simply asked for computer help........the answer he got did'nt help...so why answer if your not going to help...that's all i'm saying.!!!! most people who get ebay versions end up buying original anyway....i did! if some asked for genuine vag com help then by all means answer....that's what they paid for. sooner or later someone will come up with alternative ......in business if you make one customer happy...you gain four customer. i'm flattered that one idiot like me will make you run away from forums...one britskodian like me in thousands with an observation[opinion] has such an effect.i think i'll run for president... lighten up it's only a forum!!!

this is a common issue...on the forums many times....you've managed to get it working so that's a bonus....it's a pain changing port all the time. couple of reasons for this....i assume it's an ebay version or similiar of the cable... windows xp....will handle differently than vista.....the port is been used by something else... i found vista not to work to easily with these versions. you might have to experiment with your operating system to make it fix to one port. or simply just change it each time you use it[a pain] the reasons you get answers like the last one is because of some are selling or involved in the product...but sadly they don't help,but actualy know the answer...which is really not in sync with this forum i quote" This site was created to become a resource of information for Skoda owners, and a community of people that share information and assist each other"

usually a scan on engine module will show glow plug faults...on mine the code even gave the number of plug if i remember right... tdiclub forum had interesting page for further glow plug testing...http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=79819....[server seems to be down at moment]

this is on ver409 vagcom.....i'm using com 3 on mine.....this was on ebay version which came with driver...[http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm...for using usb tru com port] my computer talk maybe inaccurate but with a closer look you'll get it....

if i remember correctly the usb port on the software interface does'nt work...you have to use one of the com ports...because the driver is virtual com port for the usb.. if you get the com port right you make contact with your car.....does'nt seem to work with vista to well have another look and see what happens

first of all what version windows you running??what version vag com you running? usually the cable driver comes on a disc??did you get a disc? it should be able to work ok...although only for checking fault codes.... but at least it's a start... i'll try and help you if i can.....

i checked that channel 008 and you seem to be right...they only thing is the values seem to be single digit numbers....completely different from the way it was been done on other cars.... would the numbering system be different also?

economy of words is usually associated with genius!!although in my case it's lack of vocabulary!!!! all i want is intimate knowledge of my vag com and my car..great for the pub..and maybe a little tweak here and there along with repairs

first two are right..knowledge and uderstanding......my patience in this case is certainly questionable.........mainly because i have a tool which requires a lot of searching to find out..altough the new beta version does have more info....how to use it and all the modules within as for manners ..well i said nothing rude

if one wants to change anything..that is one's own issue.. back to the question......can it be done? if vag com doe'nt work on a particular engine then it's limited .....so far i have'nt been able to do what i wanted to do......change egr setting...glow plugs... maybe i don't know codes...etc ..but that also makes it limited since these codes seem to be exclusive to some.

bkc.......i want to do this..Extending Glow Plugs with VAGcom | CinciTDI.com..... why....why not.......ecu no/version...i don't know how to find that!

i believe it's possible to adjust the temperature the glow plugs work and how many seconds they stay on for....anyone know how???mines octavia pd 1z 1.9tdi

i like auroan 's question.....it seem's only harry potter could know all these codes etc..etc.. my problem is i don't know what i would like to do...so therefore i don't know the question! for example ifound by accident i could turn off seatbelt chime....and one click open all doors.......which all appealed to me. so i have to search to find out if i want something and eventually may use some of that info. it's great fun i must say!

12233 worked fine.....except it has a value of o....so those other numbers 33768 don't seem to change anything
